Without knowing all the circumstances, my first impression is the guy put his family at risk to stop a robbery. Anything that ends with your son getting shot is not a successful operation.

The crook is dead, a great thing. Stopping a mass shooting is a good thing. People were going to get shot because a bad man went inside to do bad things. Luckily an armed citizen was there to stop it. Had gun grabbers had their way the guy would not have been able to stop the shooter.

Nobody ever advocates for laws to stop themselves. It's always directed at some.other guy.

You, think that's sarcasm?

Trust me, better gun control is better.

I don't like limiting certain guns from response people. However, I think we need to have better restrictions on who is and isn't responsible.

I cant think of any good reason a.person living in LV, should have one unless they have a.permit of some kind.

The latest from the school shooting in CO

Authorities are investigating a report that a private security officer at STEM School Highlands Ranch shot at a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy

Investigators are also looking at the possibility a bullet from that security officer’s gun may have hit and wounded one of the students injured in the incident

I have always thought ‘better background checks’ for the most part arenot an answer to keeping guns out of the hands of those that shouldn’t have them.

My simple question..... if the ‘background check’ found out you posted about shooting someone in a fit of rage, hypothetically of course,on some obscure gambling website, would that disqualify you from buying whatever the legal limit for size and number and caliber of guns? Any time limit or that post stays with you for life?

This is largely why I oppose such "common sense" gun laws.

I can't argue it's "common sense". I will argue that humanity is not common.

If you don your waders and slog through the dark part of my mind, you'll find a cacophony of voices screaming "KILL IT". You'd find my boss in there. You see depictions of all sorts of horrors, scariest of all is likely how much I mean it. I had no qualms describing my mental issues, I've no qualms expressing that a lot of its manifestations are very real. Some are more than just emotional pressure purging; I genuinely want to severely injure my (former) boss. I think it'd make my year to run into him at the ECFair. I think a well founded elbow to the chin that slips a disk in his neck and gives him a permanent reminder of me is just what the doctor ordered. Doubly so if it genuinely crippled him. I think if could somehow hit him hard enough to loose (intended spelling) an eyeball, I just might finish 2019 with a smile. Or s#$%, I can still kick like a mule. Maybe I could literally explode a kidney, if I tried real hard. I bet I could. I bet I wanna try.

These are just random musings of a mildly irksome Friday. They really pale to what goes on when I'm having a bad day or in a mood; if left to my own devices I generally champion GoT style justice. Flog em, flay em, let em bleed in the streets. WGAF.

BUT, in the...23 years I've been struggling with TBI and emotional turmoil, my mind goes and has gone to firearms exactly ZERO times. Whether it my life's philosophy that views death as perfect peace or my still functioning logical mind that knows death solves nothing, I neither pine for nor mentally masturbate about firearm violence. I carry everywhere. There's no secret I struggle with rage. I've raged out >0 times with a firearm on my person. It doesn't even register. Even with a familiarity with broken brains that just want to hurt, I cannot put myself in the place of a Paddock. As incredibly deep as I can hate, I cannot put a gun in that arena. I can EASILY imagine lining up Trump and McConnell and Feinstein and Cuomo and every other disgusting, honorless, POS pol in the country and just running down the line doling out roundhouses until my shins bleed. That'd make me feel better. Imagine the same thing but executing them Escobar style... there's zero resonance. It doesn't solve a problem of corrupt politics, nor does it sate my rage. Quite frankly it's simply too impersonal. And so it never enters the arena.

So, while I might be the most violently unstable individual you know, I can with 23yrs of reputation say there is ZERO PERCENT CHANCE you'll ever see ol' Face on the news as a mass shooter. 23 years of urges to just smash someone, and I've failed to control my person exactly ZERO times.

Genuinely, how do you possibly legislate this? Your brothers and sisters cannot even state what is wrong with me, how can they state the likelihood of me going the wrong way? How would laws of this nature NOT make our mental health problems worse by further alienating and discriminating against them? You think I'd be as open about talking about me and folks like me if every time I did there was a knock at the door? How many cokeheads have you almost killed because either parole or employment has made them so paranoid they feel they can't communicate with their doctor, and so you almost night-night them into oblivion?

I just don't think it can be done.

There’s next to nothing I can think of that just writing it once on a website requires a lifetime ban of a right. But I’m 100% on board for all kinds of lesser penalties.

Background checks are just one tool of many.

So given no criminal record, just the record of posts here, does that disqualify one from buying the maximum number and power and speed of guns legally allowed? What say you Rx? Can he buy the day after that famed post?

I think it depends where you live. ZKs rants would certainly disqualify him from obtaining a pistol permit in Nassau County or NYC if it was brought to their attention.

Florida has a law right now that says you can at least temporarily take someone’s guns if they are deemed a threat.

I would hold myself and family to the same standard

Sure I would put some sort of hold that did that. Prevented buying a gun. Sure. Without hesitation.

Thanks for the answer. I’m just wondering are there hard and fast rules, or is this something a non elected official just decides when the info hits his or her desk?

I’ll repeat myself. No one should be allowed to say we need better ‘BACKGROUND CHECKS’
unless they specifically list disqualifying criteria.

Why would you want an elected official making these decisions?
