So if someone were to flag the Jerry Logan post that started the whole tipping thread, a huge chunk of posts would just go to 404 Land. I hope no one does that.

Unless I'm mistaken, flagging the post only eliminates the thread when that's the only post in the thread.

I've seen it happen. Kinda wierd too.

I hit the flag button, next thing I know, I'm at a forum thread list.

I replied to the flagged post, and when I try to click on my reply, it gives a 404 error.

That is what I assumed would be the result of my test. I think I saw that Far From Vegas had replied to my now-busted thread before Nareed (and others?) flagged it to oblivion. I thought my post would be removed, and FFV's reply would remain. But the whole thread, including FFV's post, is now gone.

Flagging is supposed to count towards the particular post only. I think there is an exception for the first post in a thread, but I forgot what it is.

So now I'm slightly confused; is this thread that I am posting in the thread that went kaput, or is this a different one. I suspect the latter.

If multi-flagging the starting post deletes the thread, am I understanding correctly that only applies if there are not yet other posts?

Hey Doc,

This is a different thread. Nareed had to create it because the original one went kaput when my originating post was flagged.

Far From Vegas had replied at the time that my post was flagged and removed. FFV's post was also removed (as were any others in that thread).

OK...so, does that mean if a couple of devious folks flagged Nareed's post up top right now, then all of this discussion would be gone, with no record about what happens if you flag a starting post?

(Please, let's not try it just yet. My head may be starting to explode.)

That's my understanding. Also, I think that starts some sort of space-time rift...
