Until a few days ago, my plan was NOT to attend (it was too hot the only time we have been there in June), but I have been rethinking that. Now I am trying to work out some travel plans to get a friend to join my wife and me in Las Vegas that week. Our friend has some conflicts to schedule around, and we are not sure we can work it all out, so we might have to be out there a different week.

Ah, but are your sources reliable? ;)

Unfortunately they are :( Long story short, between an ongoing family emergency and a tax issue that's costing me too much time and money, I wont' be able to attend WoVCon I or even make my annual trip to Vegas.

Was just thinking, maybe it would be appropriate for WOVcon to have a theme, to make its members easy to identify. If I knew definitive numbers I might even go so far as to have souvenir T-Shirts printed up, but failing that, how about tasteless shirts? The Louder the shirt the better.

Count me in. But, what activities are scheduled for WoVCon? In another thread, I suggested a private poker tourney at Binions, complete with manager's name and phone number, but there didn't seem to be much interest. Will there be booths set up and WoV souvenirs available? Or is it just the loud shirts? I'd be interested in meeting all you people.

I hate to bear the bad news, but the mountain climbing trip I had planned in June got moved up to begin June 12. It is a large group, and I'm not in charge, so I'm not in any position to change it. I feel badly about it, but I've had this trip planned for several months, and have been training hard for it.

I'd still be happy to see anybody who can come a bit early. I'll be around June 1-11.

I am in Vegas 8th-22nd of June, so maybe I could get together with the Wiz before he goes.

I am all for keeping the original date, time and location, just for the sake that is what I have planned around, and I am sure others have done the same.

Im still looking forward to WoVCon, even though the guest of honour will be conspicuous by his absence.

Well, I have made my travel reservations and will definitely be in town for the Wizardless WoVCon. My wife and I will arrive on Friday 6/10 and will be in town until late on Thursday 6/16. We will be staying at Bally's this trip. Perhaps if others are around town early we could have a Pre-Con get together with the Wizard before he heads out mountain climbing.

Croupier: Are you keeping the first post of this thread up to date on people's plan changes? Also, I think you said Ms. Croupier will be around, but I'm not sure about other spouses/significant others. My wife thinks the time I spend on this forum is evidence of a mental defect (or at least proof that I don't have a life), so I'm not sure whether she will be coming to Main Street Station Wednesday afternoon or not. Who expects to have a "guest" along?

Was an agenda ever established? I know there was talk about a poker game, but I am a complete novice at that, and I'm not really into getting fleeced by people with whom I would like to maintain a friendly relationship. I guess I could participate in a low-stakes limit game. Are there any other cheapskate craps players attending?

I have been away form the site for a while, but will definitely try and keep on top of the attending list now.

Mrs Croup will be attending, and I will get around to discussing a pre con meet with the Wiz soon.

Oh, and I am definitely a craps flea.

My girlfriend has elected not to join me. Can't say I blame her - my flight cost $350 when I booked it in December, and hers would be $880 to book now (assuming she would want to fly with me).

I'd be for a low-stakes poker game, or maybe some kind of blackjack tourney (abbreviated that at first, then realized that spelling it out was necessary). I've never played craps, except for burning off a couple match play coupons last October. I'd be game for starting.

I look forward to meeting the Wizard and some of the great people from this forum. As far as a freindly tourny of some sort blackjack or poker sounds good.A packed craps table full of WOV attendees sounds good also. Nareed I hope things work out for you.

I just returned from a week in Hawaii. As far as I know the dates of my Shasta/Hood trip are still not set in stone by the trip leader. There is also a chance I'll be kicked off the trip because I missed a training class on crevasse rescue. I hate to appear indecisive, but I still can't commit to anything at this point, but will do my best to make myself available.

Very funny! However, that wasn't a crevasse. I have not seen the movie yet, but from what I've heard, that incident happened in what is referred to as a "slot canyon."

A get-together in Las Vegas in June, particularly Wednesday afternoon 6/15 at Main Street Station and possibly other days/times. Try a search on thread titles containing "WoVCon". There are several threads discussing possible activities. I think we are mostly counting on Croupier to get this organized.

It is more or less organised. I think the best think will be to go with the flow on the day, depending on the numbers that turn up.

Hey Croupier,

I think there are some changes needed to the list at the front of this chain: Avargov, MDH, and Doc look to definitely be "in." Presumably JL2 will not attend, since he's banned from the site. Maybe altut or helicious can verify that for us:-)

Also, the timing of my trip does not work out for my girlfriend, so I'm coming solo.

I am 99% sure I will be there, but my car won't be, so I will have to find a ride there. Perhaps I will try good 'ole public transportation since the rest of my family won't appear until late Weds early Thurs. Doc/avargov - Ditto on the car. Staying at Caesars. I'd imagine that some kind of rideshare arrangement is going to be a better option than finding a place to park a truck downtown.

Thanks. They moved back the dates, enabling me to make WoVCon. However, I'm still supposed to make up the crevasse rescue class, but have no idea how to do that in Las Vegas in May. I plan to go to a rock climbing practice place to see if I can at least learn how to do the knots, anchors, and whatever else I missed.
