JFK has increased by 9.0 MAP enplanements in the last ten years, almost another LaGuardia. They now want to completely replace La Guardia. It seems like a good place to install new casinos to help foot the bill.

If they do put a casino in NYC, I think Governor's Island would be a good place.

Unfortunately the political resistance will never allow a fullblown casino within the N.Y.C. limits.

They are currently building a racino at Aqueduct and there is one already in Yonkers. Last I knew Aqueduct was in Queens which is within NYC limits. For all practical purposes Yonkers is in the Bronx which is also NYC.

Belmont is the projected site of the Indian Casino (because they won't let them build it out in South Hampton for some reason).

Please note I said a "full blown casino". Empirecity at yonkers is "slots only" The racino at Aqueduct will be also "slots only"

Missed the "full blown" part - I'm pretty sure that table games are only a matter of time. After all we here in Maryland had to put up with years of "No CasiNo No Way No Time" until there was one.

Thank you for your return comment, but I still stand by my initial premise. Also while Belmont is being discussed I think it is a longshot at best.

I think the islands would be considered too historic, and too difficult to get to. I don't see how NYC will be able to resist trying to keep some of the money at home. Eventually NJ may build a casino in Bayonne, or Jersey City.

The rebuilding of La Guardia airport will be one of the most massive infrastructure projects in the country. It would be nice to see the gaming money going togood use at the same site as the casino.

The concept for the AirTrain originally was to connect Manhattan and tie La Guardia and JFK together. It ended up just being a loop around JFK terminals, and then it splits off in two places to connect to the subway and the Long Island Railroad. With gamblers going to the casino as well as airport patrons, there would be enough incentive to finish the system as planned.

Gov island would be a good spot but problematic w resistance to it.
The best option is still with the Schaghticoke tribe and Bridgeport CT.
The Schaghticoke have had a lot of resistance mainly funded by the other 2 tribes in CT.
Now that the money MSun and Foxwoods gives to the state has significantly decreased all that's is needed if for the Schaghticoke to offer CT a better deal.

As an (ex-) New Yorker, few airports were as convenient as LaGuardia is. Very "Mass transit-able" to Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, it is quick, relatively hassle-free, - the only real negative were the super-short runways on L-13.
JFK was a bitch to get to, Newark isn't bad from Lower Manhattan, White Plains airport (just North of the City) was great for Southern Westcheter and Bx, MacAurthur is great for Long Island (Eastern suburbs) and they opened up Stewart AFB in Newburgh as 6th one for NY (North Westchester/Orange/Putnam). New Yorkers have sis option, but they seems to choose mainly JFK and Newark.

We don't know how lucky we are with McCarran in some ways!!! I live at Eastern & Trop, and it's 5 minutes and $2 (literally) to pickup someone up at the luggage Carousels/Starbucks on Level 1.

Governor's Island is a bit small for an airport, at 3,000ft long, and would require ferries or new bridges; the congestion in that area (lower Manhattan, Urban Brooklyn) is horrendous.

To build a central McCarran type airport for NYC, they'd have to destroy and re-pave Central Park. The big three (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) look like there it for close-by New York.

"The New York Constitution prohibits all gambling. It then makes exceptions, such as lotteries with tickets."

Yeah, I know we have slots too. It's high paid lawyers twisting the law (and a nearly bankrupt New York). Table games, other than in indian casinos, is doubtful.

While in the NYC area we have many choices for airports, Westchester, MacArthur and Stewart have very few destinations. So in reality JFK,LGA and NWK are the only viable options.

The TV's are a must. Love that Virgin lets you order food and drinks from the TV screen.
Virgin started at direct NYC to LV. Lands around noon in Vegas. Perfect time.

The Air Train opened on December 17, 2003 and made JFK much more open to mass tranist with a decent (not great) connection to LIRR and the subway. It is one of the cheapest trips to the airport at $7.25 which includes the subway ride. The improvements to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan will provide many more options.

The new Westcliff Airport Express is only $2 in Las Vegas. The bus starts at Suncoast on the west side of town. A total of $2 for a 17-18 mile trip is not much over the price of gas, and is the cheapest public transportation trip I have ever heard of except for the Staten Island Ferry which is free.

The drawback is that it is only once per hour.
