I've always found instant oatmeal to have an undesirable texture.

I'm perfectly willing to believe this is the same kind of personality defect that prevents me from accepting cauliflower as pizza crust.

My father ate Gerber Baby Oatmeal every day he was home. It was similar to a smoothie; he made it more of a soup than the usual mush.
I'd drink a mug of it on game days in high school. I stopped eating it when I went away to school. A few years ago, I looked for it but it doesn't seem to be made in the same recipe.

Utterly boring.
Oatmeal, with cinnamon and nutmeg.
About half a pat of butter, and a sprinkle of the yellow sweetener.

(No photo, because oatmeal - even spiced up - is so absurdly boring.)

I have to say Evenbob's meal pictures generally look better than they used to. Less looking like they came loose from the ceiling and fell on a plate.

Coat anything in sugar laden barbecue sauce and it tastes great, a dog turd on a stick would taste wonderful drowned in barbecue sauce and cooked on the grill

Do you realize that good BBQ doesn't need sauce? BBQ sauce is made to taste like BBQ, but it is not BBQ. I don't think I have ever had a BBQ sauce that is good. Most are too sweet and not smoky enough.

I've seen grown men fight over what BBQ is or isn't. I like some of it, but I am not crazy about others. In my circles, BBQ means burgers, chicken, and dogs on a barbeque grill.
If I had a list of foods to eat, BBQ might make the bottom of the top ten. I prefer sweet to smokey, but not too much of either.

To me BBQ is meat cooked over wood. Propane does not create BBQ.

I have been travelling for a few days and today I had KFC chicken nuggets. I don't think that I have ever had them before. They were excellent and definitely did not need any sauce. I will be buying them again to see if this was a fluke or not.

Have you tried Taco Bell’s new chicken nuggets? I thought they were quite good, very tender. The breading is made from nacho chips or something.

Beef with broccoli, at the food hall near the house.
I'm in the neighborhood around dinnertime today, and won't be back for at least a week.

I should really ask if they can go off-menu, and put both broccoli and mushrooms on a plate.

There is a new African food stall, so I may hit them up for some Jollof rice on my next trip through.

I have not. This is probably the first fast food that I have had in many months or so. Something i noticed about the KFC nuggets is I don't think it is processed chicken. I think it is actually whole chicken breasts cubed.

Today, in the pursuit of eating some of that local flavour before it disappears, I had a "philly beef breakfast skillet". This example consists of hashbrowns, green peppers, onions, something akin to pot roast, a slice of swiss cheese, and then topped with a couple eggs. I'm not sure what's "Philly" about that.

The hot sauce was not Texas Pete, Franks, or one of the well known varieties - they had their own private label signature hot sauce. I'm sure it's just their sticker on some manufacturer's sauce. Still, they selected it, and it's decidedly different from the usual thin vinegar sauces. This was thick, smoky, and included a blend of peppers.

The cafe itself is a clear holdover from the "truckers need phones" era. A little scrutiny shows where the phones used to be mounted at the counters and booths. Sadly, the public health concerns of 2020 seemed to claim their overnight operations as a casualty, and herald new ownership and a new management philosophy. The music service feed is still stuck on the greatest hits of the 1980s, like The Cars, Tina Turner, and INXS. The local regulars still shuffle in around 7:15 to drink coffee, read the newspaper, and hold court. By contrast, the truck stop across the highway took out their sitdown restaurant about 15 years ago, to revitalize the space into a Popeye's chicken franchise.

Fortunately for you, dear reader, a truly great breakfast isn't going to merit much more than a perfunctory log entry, as I'm too busy eating. Taking the time to write things up, pursuing the foolish hope that too little time will improve the quality of the plate before me, seems to be a necessary component in this creativity.

Salmon cakes. You have to use panko bread crumbs, I make my own. Also use enough eggs so they stay together when you're frying them and make sure the oil is hot enough. Do it right and you'll want to make these all the time.

No pictures but some incredible cooked cabbage, potatoes & onions. It’s amazing the amount of flavor you can get from a Christmas ham bone. I’ve got a couple more left in freezer soon to be soup beans and possibly a big pot of black bean pot pie (fat Amish style noodle).

Crazy thing is how cheap I can make 10-12 servings (not counting original cost of ham). Probably less than $10 for all the above meals.

Something you might try is adding more and more water to whatever you're drinking. If adding ice, add the same amount of ice first so that's always the same, then add a little bit of water, and keep increasing over time. If you start to really notice then decrease the rate. You'll likely grow used to the new taste over time.

Painless. When it works.

If I add a bottle of water to my bottle of water...

...anyway. I had forgotten that I used to keep those Wylers lemonade packets on hand. I haven't been to a store that carries the multiflavor packs in almost 2 years, so I figure I'll stop in tomorrow, when I'm in the neighborhood. I'll probably have to complain to nobody in particular that they were 40% less expensive back when things cost less, and now they're not. C'est la vie.

I think the pink lemonade is the best, although the blueberry is kind of fun.

Only about 21% more expensive, achieved by reducing the package size from 50 pieces to 40 pieces and marginally decreasing the package price.

Interestingly, while I already ordered some for the house, they're less expensive in the store by about $3 per package. (I'm not near the house, and they need some too.)

Eggs are $5.24 a dozen at Walmart and I ordered a dozen today to be delivered with my other groceries. One of the eggs is broken so I filed a return and got my money back. Seems like they would be more careful with eggs costing this much. I eat them far less now, just use them when they're an ingredient in some other recipe. I can afford to eat eggs it's just the principle of the thing.

Baked ochi di lupo, with sweet sausage.
Adding a small tube of cream cheese to the ricotta mix makes it much creamier, and ground sausage tastes better than ground beef.
A pound each of pasta, sauce, and ricotta cheese, topped with a generous amount of mozzarella and cooked until the cheese is browning.
I ate a third, froze a third, and the rest is for tomorrow.

From your picture you posted I can't tell. Imagine a food magazine that had no pictures, all they did is describe the food. Nobody would buy it. So simple, take a picture with your phone, send it to Google photos, make a file out of it and hit 'insert my picture' at the bottom of this page. I can do it in less than a minute start to finish.

See that, an actual picture of the food. Maybe you could teach Bill Ryan how to use a camera and load something to the internet. He would have just described it and nobody would read it and those who did read it would not care.

You are mistaken, too rare is not possible. From the color of the juices coming out I prefer them even rarer than that. And no it's not blood as a lot of people think, that's ridiculous.

I no longer like American cheese on a burger or grilled cheese. I put caramelized mozzarella on them with grilled onion cubes. I used to prefer thicker burgers, but now I like them with more of the surface cooked. I prefer five-ounce patties.

Breakfast is 10 eggs and two to three pounds of bacon. Between meals, I eat lots of candy. In the morning, it will be several 3 Musketeers and/or Snickers bars; I need them for energy. Lunch, at 1 or 2 PM, is a double meal of a Polish pork chop, sauerkraut and potatoes. An hour later, I work out, then take lots of supplements: magnesium, creatine, amino acids, all that stuff, and more chocolate. Dinner is whatever meat I can grab—steaks, pork chops, bacon—plus more sauerkraut and potatoes. At 9 or 10 PM, I work out again. Afterward, I have a protein shake and more chocolate. At 3 or 4 AM, I wake up and have more chocolate, then go back to sleep until morning.

Strongman diet.

Bacon the number one super bad for you food. It's in the top list of known carcinogens, it causes cancer. Because of the way it's cured he greatly increases your chances of a stroke. Because it's high in sodium fat cholesterol it increases the risk of heart disease. It damages the lining of the stomach which again can lead to cancer. And you eat three or four pounds a day? Good for you, knowing you're not going to live forever and diving right into it.

One of my housemates in college was a super-heavyweight wrestler. As he didn't worry about making weight, he'd eat anything and everything. He'd have a dozen eggs for breakfast, or have a package of hot dogs( no bread) for lunch. We were at Ponderosa once, and he ordered five steaks. He'd buy four whoppers, throw away most of the buns and make one giant burger. He wrestled at 275ish and was pretty solid.
