Trying to figure out how you could turn poker into an athletic/Olympic sport. Make the chips metal weights? Make poker players wear skin tight body suits?

Quote: Rigondeaux

Iirc there was some serious discussion of this during the poker boom. Worst idea ever.

This got me thinking... What is the least "athletic" Olympic event?
I would guess the one of the shooting events.

Jerry Seinfeld seem to think the Luge is pretty easy:

We just discussed this over at DT...

I've done both the bobsled and the skeleton at Olympic Park in Lake Placid. It is NOT a sled ride. Think, you're in a concrete tube shaped much like an amusement park waterslide, covered in ice, and riding in a metal tube with metal blades. I likened it to going down a gravel road in a Radio Flier at 20mph. Truth is, it's probably worse. It is the most jarring, manic, mind blowing din of madness that is beyond my abilities to express. Then you hit a corner that you in no way, shape, or form can possibly make; it's a corner that requires a speed of 15mph and you're hitting it at 60+. 5G's pound you into the seat. Lights strobe in and out as you pass openings in the wall, lights in the tunnel. All you hear is a cacophony that drowns out all thought. Being tossed inside an industrial clothes drier would be positively mellow in comparison, it's absolutely mental.

The skelly was smoother, sort of, but a mindf#$% of its own. There is no "stop". At least in the sled you felt sort of secure, had a brake, a metal barrier around you, a seat to sit on and a rope to hang onto. The skelly all you have is your face, and it's skimming the ice at 60mph. Hit a corner and you go blind, unable to hold your head up. And when you start corner wobbling, ain't no one there to save your sorry ace. Easy? To get down, sure. Anything you put on the track will make it to the bottom, whether you want it to or not. But easy to be good? To be great? To be The Best?

No freaking way...

$80 each, or ~$120 if you do both. At least, was about 6-7 years ago.

Right outside Lake Placid. Gorgeous town, if a little trendy. If you like any single thing about winter, there is something there for you to do.

If you haven't seen this, you should. This is what it looks like when you put a foot to the ice at 70+mph in luge.

They cut out the part where everybody was dead silent while they waited to see if she was alive, then for a long 30 seconds all you heard was her wailing in pain.

She ended up with a sprained ankle, bumps and bruises, but no broken bones.

Still looks like fun to me. Skeleton (facefirst), not so much.

After seeing yet another mention of the unsolved murders of Notorious Big and Tupac Shakur, aptly called, "Unsolved Mysteries:Notorious Big And Tupac Shakur deaths, and seeing yet another Natalie Wood murder conspiracy(She died about 37 years ago on a boat trip), the headlines of a Tabloid magazine today or yesterday, and seeing headlines about the unsolved murder of Jon Benet Ramsey recently I seriously think that the industry KNOWS who murdered them but have kept their mouths shut so that they can keep making money off of these tragic deaths. A person who murdered a normal, everyday person being murdered is often found out in days or weeks, not decades. It seems only Celebrity drug overdoses, natural causes such as old age, heart attacks, and suicides are solved really quickly.

A straight up Celebrity murder except if the killer straight up confesses to the murder like when Yolanda confessed to shooting Selena(She had no choice as Selena straight up said," Yolanda shot me!") Tends to go on for decades as " Unsolved," raking in big money. Disgusting.

Odds are whoever killed the rappers is already dead. There’s cold cases in murders all the time Nathan, I think the difference is the coverage. A murder of a random person, unless it’s in a rural area where violent crime is uncommon, you are likely only to hear about if it’s local and only for a relatively short time afterwards regardless if anyone was caught.

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright’s wife was just arrested in connection with his murder after 7 years of no arrests. Not a big enough star for a national tv show about it I guess, but he absolutely was a legend around Memphis where he grew up, lived nearby after his career, and was also murdered there.

Suge Knight, had of Deathrow Records, and notorious gang leader did the Tupak Shakur and Notorious Big hits. Tupak signed his death warrant when he signed the letter authorizing a CPA to audit his royalties.

Natalie Wood was too often choosing the Devil You Know and that devil did indeed almost certainly kill her and let her drown.

JonBenet Ramsey was not the parents or the brother and probably not weird old McSanta, it was more likely a retaliation for John Ramsey having fired, on instructions from the corporate owner of Access Graphics, a newly hired computer programmer who was spotted smoking on his lunch hour six blocks from work. The intruder was obsessed with Smokers Rights (a front organization created by a Kansas City lawfirm representing Big Tobacco). 118,000 was the absurd figure bandied about before the Congress as the number of passive smokers dying each year from cigarettes. The intruder had a prior record of petit crimes against the corporate owner of AG and a record of intense vitriol against JR in Ultima chat rooms but it is difficult to analyze his "death threats" against John Ramsey since in Ultima a Death Threat is a minor opening gambit. He was a Libertarian who had previously written that an attack against family members is justified if someone attacks him. He had a severe brain injury while in Marietta and took 8 years to get a four year degree. Known to have had one girl friend, severely depressed after she broke up with him, a good artist (oils), solitary pursuits (hiking, desert jeeping, etc) took years to develop social skills, administered the SW Border States Drug Interdiction Task Force computer network and the AF small parts resupply computer network through his Denver employer. Died almost six years ago in the Carolinas touristy beach scene where he ran a small retail store after retiring from a Spook firm known as SAIC where he mainly did Web Authentication work.

Yes it's mandatory. Cleaning lady caught me watching a movie before, going to have to be the security guards turn. Can you imagine just being naked, they walk in, you stay that way. It's your room, your right, they're the ones breaking in. This being at the same time, Caesars takes $10 if you refuse maid service.

The world gets crappier and crappier. :( A teen Mom killeed hewborn baby son in 2013 and then stuffed his body into a Victoria's Secret shopping bag and attempted to shoplift from the store. She admitted to the heinous crime and declined to speak on her behalf at her hearing. She also had a previous baby drown mysteriously in a bathtub two years earlier, bizarrely enough. She was able to get a lesser charge Manslaughter and has been sentenced to 16 years. Such a messed up and heartbreaking news. Those two innocent babies dead before they really got a chance to live. Her surviving son who is a toddler(This craphead gave birth to THREE babies when really good people are striving to have even one baby) Has been placed in CPS IIRC. SMH! :(

For some odd reason this link only briefly touches on the second baby she had.

Nathan,

Please don't post these grotesque stories in this forum. Find the National Enquirer forum or People or TMZ or a hundred other forums that post click-bait garbage, someplace else for them.

No source cite, vague facts other than gross details, only shock value and your condemnation..find somewhere else that wants to see crap like this; I've removed enough of them. Have you not noticed you're the only one who puts these things up?

Well, good news and bad news for me. I have waited 3 months to be able to sell 4 shares of my Walgreen's stock. That's good news. The bad news is that Walgreen's stock plummeted by over 2 percent and I am down by over $10 at current time. So if I were to sell at the over 2 percent loss, my share would only be about $50 a share so $200 minus $35 commission and $30 in wire transfer fee($15 to wire, $15 to receive) so I would actually only be receiving $135 from that $200 if I sold at the current market value. I am seriously considering waiting until after work to see if the market jumps up to being ahead by at least 3 points.

I hope you didnt get those 4 shares by investing in them. If you might need the money in a short period of time, you should not invest in the stock market at all.

With 20 grand he should have travelled by taxi or something and stayed off his cell phone and away from "friends and relatives" who would turn him in.

How dumb can you be?

watching true crime shows, catching criminals through their use of the cell phone is a constantly repeating theme.

There is a considerable electronic difference in a cell phone merely being carried and one that is being actively used to make a call. He could have at least turned his cell phone to off but to actually make a call is utterly foolish. And to call several people and try to "get a ride out of town" gives the DA a list of witnesses he can call to the stand.

in the true crime shows, which I like,

*the criminals think since no one usually knows where they are making the call from, they can make a call from one place and claim to be in another. The cell towers bust them all the time.

*they don't realize these things track by GPS, or that this can be turned from off to on remotely by the police.

*the police often have no clue whodunit until checking phone records of someone known by a victim and finding maybe 20 calls a day between two people around the time of the crime. Sometimes one of the two is otherwise not a good suspect, but the person they were calling is a felon etc.

Most brokers charge under $10 per trade with no wire transfer fee. Look into companies like TDAmeritrade or Etrade.
You will never make money paying fees that are right out of the 1980s.

Yup. You see lots of people getting put away for messing up in ways that would be easily preventable. Most of the times those shows are about a husband/wife that kill the other for insurance money, or something along that route. Seems like many of them don't put much effort or thought into what they're doing. Like, "Oh hey, I don't like my wife anymore, so I'm gonna change her life insurance to the maximum, then once that starts I'll kill her 2 days later, I'll figure everything out on the fly."

Then you got other people who are vining or twitting or w/e you youngsters call it when they're out doing crimes and being involved in skullduggery.

Well, I decided to try my hand at a new kind of gambling. Investing in Walgreen's.I work for Walgreen's and decided to literally gamble on the company I work for. :) Why not? Walgreen's is a reputable, good company linkat has been around for 117 years! And is such a good company to work for, and I am only investing 5 percent of my paycheck, so not a huge piece of pie. More like a little sliver ;)

Anyone ever had red stuffed peppers?
Back east, I only saw green peppers used but had some this week and they used red ones.
Regional thing, perhaps?

the bell peppers of all colors are nice to use, besides boring old green, sometimes taste better. But watchout what you pay for them! It can be ridiculous.

at least stick to "buy low, sell high" for crying out loud

if this is your opportunity to have money for retirement, why are you blowing it like this anyway? Take advantage!

Meh. Am I just wasting my breath [so to speak]?

My favorite is the guy who killed his wife, then put her corpse and his shovel in the trunk and drove a few hundred miles away to bury her. When animals dug up the corpse, police obtained a search warrant for his home and the cops seized a ten dollar shovel which turned out to have soil on it from the yard and from the geographically unique distant burial site. He saved ten dollars by not having to buy a new shovel. Idiot,.
