For once a catastrophe that signals neither the end of the world nor of civilization.
Today MS ended support for Windows XP. According to all predictions my work PC ought to be crawiling with viruses, adware and malware by now, and being used for DoS attacks, email spamming, remote hacking and who knows what all else.
Mine apaprently didn't get the memo. So either 1) I'm confused and support ends alter today, 2) the predictiosn were overblown, or 3) for once the IT department did something rigth and the firewall and AV programs are doing their thing (and what are the chances of that?). In any case my work PC is running normally, which is to say horribly slow and laggy.
But be careful at the ATM. A lot of them run on XP.
