Since gambling involves risk, I'm curious if any of you risk-takers out there would ever do a job like this?

As for me.....hell NO!

When I was young I would have done it no problem. Now I`m too old and fat.

In a heartbeat. Stuff like that, working on windmills, painting suspension bridges, c’mon. Can’t beat the view.

Sure beats sitting at a desk all day in a suit =p

Yeah =) I understand I might take the “no fear” attitude a little too far, but the level of safety to which many people take things just baffles me. It’s probably unwise to be on my side of the bell curve, granted, but I find it equally as bad to be my mirror image, so to speak. A life without risk is no life at all, and I don’t know how people can tolerate living in bubbles.

Fear is not for avoiding, it’s for overcoming. Everyone dies. Not everyone lives.

I once changed the stobe beacons on a Loran C tower that was 625' high. That was from the ground not from on top of a building. It took us almost an hour to climb to the top so we took our lunch with us and just stayed on the tower until the 3 beacons were changed. There was also a set of beacons at about the 400' level so the climb wasn't quite as bad for that set. The tower was just dismantled last year since Loran C has been shut down since 2010. GPS does a better job now but hope we never lose the satellites or there will be a lot of ships in coastal waters in big trouble.

As for me...hell YES. I'd pay good money to climb that thing.

First you climb, then you jump.

Quote:

An extreme sport star from Russia has successfully completed the world's highest base jump - leaping off the north face of Mount Everest.

Valery Rozov made the jump from a point 7,220m (23,680ft) above sea level.

The stunt took more than two years to plan and marked almost 60 years to the day the anniversary of the first ascent up Mount Everest.

Watching the video made me feel slightly queasy....
"Then you can admire the real gambler, who has neither eaten, slept, thought nor lived, he has so smarted under the scourge of his martingale, so suffered on the rack of his desire for a coup at trente-et-quarante" - Honore de Balzac, 1829

If a casino game ever gives me the option of winning money or falling a thousand-plus feet, it's time to quit gambling.

I worked my way through college with my FCC First Class RadioTelephone Operator License which included doing stuff like working on transmitters and taking readings at tower bases but... NO... I would not go up anything. Heck, when it comes time to change the light bulb on a ceiling light, I hold the ladder for my wife.
