Last Wednesday I arrived in Vegas, and went to meet a homeless guy I had met on my last trip. We met at the Green Valley Ranch, where he was playing bubble craps. I was clearly a good luck charm, and he went on a pretty good roll, winning $400 in the short time I was watching. He cashed out, and headed to Makino, my favorite sushi buffet. When we were getting of the I-15, there was a guy with a sign begging for money stating he was homeless.... At which point I looked at teddys and asked him if he still has an apartment back home in Ohio. When he said no I told him that he is technically homeless, too, as he has been rotating casinos as his domicile. Anyway, after dinner we went to the Palms, where I asked teddys to show me a +EV VP game, and how he plays it. I forget which one, but it said it was 100.8% payback. He turned his $45 into $90 in maybe 1/2 an hour, with me trying to intuitively guess what the correct EV play was, and I think I picked it up pretty quickly. I drove teddys to his new home (he was 'moving' to 4queens).
I asked teddys how long he could keep this up, before getting a real apartment..... We shall see!

I think threads about homelessness and all that social worker do-gooder stuff belongs on the "new site" but I question whether anyone who is sleeping in comped casino rooms qualifies as homeless.

Flea- it was more about my good time with a forum member, and his unique living arrangements....
and the good time we had gambling together...
I can't imagine anyone on the 'new site' giving a flying f... about this, but I can see a gambler finding it interesting that there is a guy living out of a suitcase going casino to casino.....

I could do the same thing...in fact, I did for a while, until my boss found out I was using VPN to do everything and wasn't "physically" at work...(why it matters I don't know...)
I know people on SSI/Disability that are living this very way...haha, they live better than most casino employees who serve them!

Interesting post. I had to read it twice to figure out hat you meant.
Yes, I believe Teddys does fit the government definition of homeless. I did too for a while when I had no apartment, and was living in hotels Monday-Friday and with my brother-in-law on the weekends. Interesting lives we lead.

Flea probably missed that you were talking about Teddy all along, and that it is tongue in cheek to call him homeless. I had to reread it myself . Try those emoticons [g]

If it's at the Palms, I'm guessing full pay deuces wild.

I am pretty sure that tringlomane is correct. It definitely had deuces wild, as he hit a royal and just seemed mildly happy about it. Hit 5 of a kind twice, too.

As to eking out a living in Las Vegas I think we have one member who is retired and an avid poker player who wrote a blog about his 27 days in Vegas on Comped Rooms, Comped Buffets and an average expenditure of less than ten dollars a day for uncomped rooms and occasional laundry facilities.

Thanks for the write-up, Scott, and the lunch.
I'm an amateur at the hotel game. Apparently there is a guy who did five days on/two days off at the Harrah's properties for 13 months. The weekends he paid for or got comped elsewhere. This I assume was before the TR system got really going, and they gave you any weekday night comped in Vegas if you were Diamond level.
I also met a guy who lives at the Four Queens off his comp dollars. He wasn't the kind of guy I'd want to run into again, however.
