I want to try cooking beef next weekend, but I'm not sure what I want to do.

On the one hand, I've had much success with Chinese-style recipes, like tangerine chicken, so orange beef seems like a antural. On the other, I don't want to get stuck in one style of cooking. And on the Gripping hand, I don't much care for beef, really, so I don't even know what I want. But then it was only when I started cooking cabbage that I discovered how much I like it, so I thought I'd try the same with somethign else.

I've never made meatloaf. Burgers, well, I've some ideas on what to add to the patty to make it delicious. I also favor, thick, juicy patties that can be cooked like steaks, rather than the thin, dry globs of beef found at most fast food joints.

I voted for the carne asada simply because I was craving Mexican food.

Beef Bourguignon

Beef braised in red wine with veggies. Actually a pretty easy dish.

Fiction? Have you seen the recent headlines about an FBI arrest of a NYC cop who planned to kidnap, cook and eat 100 women?

I have a recipe for good barbeque sauce. The recipe for the burgers is to take them out of the box and otherwise follow the directions on the box.

I'm in agreement with Larry niven: don't waste calories. If I want a burger, I'll make areal one. I can amke chicken burgers only because I like them, not because I think they can substitute for the real thing.

I'll probably do meatloaf. I've no idea how, but I'm already thinking of what to add to it ;)

I'm going to make meatloaf for the week, and one burger Saturday for lunch. Here's a small preview for the latter:

For the patty: ground beef, Worcestershire, 1/8 teaspoon minced garlic, cilantro, egg white, ground pepper. Shape into a thick, wide patty and cook to taste.

For the burger: lightly roasted sesame bun with a smidgen of butter, finely sliced caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms w/cabbage, pickles, BBQ sauce and mustard.

I whould also amke fries, but I can't bring myself to even put the necessary oil in the pan... :P

Long pig.

The question of course is: "Do I serve red or white wine with that?"
"What, me worry?"
