There was a cheap hamburger joint of that name where I grew up; kind of place where burgers were about 19 cents each.

On day while buying some burgers there I noticed a pile of what appeared to be dog skins next to the dumpster out back.

Clearly they were some form of animal skins, fairly uniform in size.

To this day, I wonder: did they grind up dog meat for the hamburgers at The Steer Inn?

Curious.
"What, me worry?"

Probably not. You would think that if they were regularly slaughtering dogs on the site they would have a procedure to hide the evidence a little better...

I never eat Chinese food anymore. Sometimes they do not get all the fur off the cat and it sticks to the back of my threat.

Seriously as Vietnam war ran down, the Vietnamese population in Houston went from several hundred to over 200,000.
And dogs did indeed disappear from many neighborhoods.
