Some movies never achieve the fame and acclaim which they deserve.

see ... O Lucky Man

I still get nightmares over this one.

From another Thread, Duel (1972) by Spielburg.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I thought Congo (1995) was a great, fun movie.

I think marketing killed it. It was never intended to be a thriller like jurassic park (the film adaptation at least), but was an homage to adventure movies of the 30's and 40's, replete with caricatures and stereotypes, as well as loads of in-jokes and non-sequiturs. I encourage anyone to give it a second viewing from this angle.

EASY answer (I give this movie an 8.5/10) >> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0124595/ (Return To Paradise, 1998)

High Roller -- The Stu Unger Story.

I've actually saw that movie and it was pretty interesting.
Also, I liked the Congo BOOK much better than the movie..but the movie wasn't bad...

Based on its time at the box office, and speed to DVD release, I would have to say last year's, "The Grey" with Liam Neeson was overlooked. If you enjoy "Man vs. Wild" survivalist tales, with a "significance of life" sub-plot, this film is worth a look. I think if anyone enjoyed "The Stu Unger Story", they might find parallels in this film.

A tip: Be sure to catch the post credit epilogue. Lot's of folks walked out of the theatre when the credits roll, and miss these little gems.

I don't know if this amazing film qualifies as "overlooked". It was nominated for an Academy Award, and is recognized on many lists as one of the top films of all time.

My father's friend, a Vietnam vet, said he actually had flashbacks in the theatre while watching this film...
