Regarding the Bellagio in LV:

I stayed there back during the Super Bowl, and my cellphone reception was BLOCKED! In the past, my cellphone reception has always been great, but starting back during the Super Bowl, the cellphone reception was suddenly blocked- everywhere on the casino floor! At the time, I thought that it was just because of the crowds, but on a recent trip this past week, I encountered the same blocked reception on the gaming floor!

I'm the kind of person that must always remain in cellphone contact with various business associates as well as family members with health concerns. This latest move by the Bellagio to evidently block cellphone signals means that I can no longer gamble within their casino. I must also say that there is a chance that the blocked signal could be because could be resulting from all of the new construction, but either way it's no longer a save place for me to play. In talking with others in the casino, they too have complained that they simply can not get reception on the gaming floor.

Surely the pinheads in surveillance aren't doing something stupid, that could put them in the middle of a lawsuit. I would expect something like this from the pinheads at Caesars, but not the Bellagio.

If your in LV to gamble, and you need to remain in contact with others, then you'll need to steer clear of the Bellagio.

Who's your carrier? I never had a problem with Verizon. I have had a problem in Caesar's, but I don't think that it was intentional on the part of the casino, I think it's the usual dropped spot.

I'm quite sure I've used my cell phone at the Bellagio. Cell phone reception in Vegas casinos is generally pretty poor. Some are worse than others. That would make for a good survey of the average number of bars in each casino.

Wizard, he said "recently", which indicates a change. I've never had a problem there either, but I haven't been there since November. I'll withhold opinion until I know more. Maybe he has a new phone with a different antenna, I don't know.

I noticed some weirdness at The M as well. I'd be laying in bed enjoying 4G, then it'd dip to 3G, then to 1X, then nothing at all. Up down, back and forth, and I never moved, I was just laying in bed looking at the phone propped up on the table.

I was there the week BEFORE the Super Bowl and had no problems (Verizon).

I will be there again in a few weeks......

I was there the week of the SuperBowl but left the Thursday before. My Verizon phone worked fine then. I will be back the beginning of May so it will be interesting to see if it works.

It could be the band used by your carrier, or the placement of cel towers.

I used to have two cel phones (company owned and my own). In my house, one worked well and the other was spotty. I only have one now.

They would be bringing massive FCC fines upon themselves if they were really blocking signals. I also see zero reason why they would even want to do this. It is possible they have changed the coverage within the casinos. Saying it is blocked with no proof though is a little strong.

FWIW, I wish companies could apply for a license to block cell phones though. I sure would be nice to have them in theaters.

I'm with AT&T:

Luxor - One bar, No Internets
Flamingo - Three Bars, Okay Internets
Imperial Palace - Two Bars, Intermittent Internets
Rio - One bar, Very limited and spotty Internets
Everywhere in Las Vegas that isn't the Las Vegas Strip, pretty good cell service and Internets.

I seem to have spotty reception with AT&T no matter which casino I'm in.

I chalk it up to interference from all the electronic devices (slot machines) on the casino floor.

Then again, when it does work, it's too noisy to hear anything, so I generally use text messaging when in a casino. Never had a problem with that....

Hmm wish I had read this before I left. I played at the Bellagio quite a bit but I don't remember specifically using my phone while on the casino floor. Knowing my addiction to mobile internet, I'm sure I did as I would have remembered a problem. However, I barely use my phone as an actual phone, so I wouldn't have been able to test the voice reception.

Strange the M is the most wired resort in town and is even rather open about their set-up allowing industry techies to have televised lectures about the systems ultra high capacity.

The only "adjustments" that I know the M made was to zap wifi in the lobby area and then re-introduce it there with a very short time limit so that only people actually checking in rather than camped out there would benefit from the service.

I used my AT&T phone in line at the Bellagio buffet to check sports scores. Worked fine.
