We were in AC for a short stay, Wed night through Fri morn. GN was the only AC casino we've never been to, so we decided to see it Thursday AM.

A little bit after noon, I was walking through the table games and decided to play a few hands of Four Card Poker. There was a dealer standing at an empty table, with the cards spread in front of her. I made eye contact, looked away, then started back to the table. While I was looking away, perhaps a couple seconds, she had turned around and walked to the table behind hers and started talking to a player at that table, someone she obviously knew well.
I sat down, pulled out my new Player's Card and a few hundreds, and waited about half a minute. I tried to get my dealer's attention, but she was pretty much involved with the other player at the other table. I then asked the dealer at the Spanish 21 table if my table was open, and she affirmed that it was. I waited a minute more, and my dealer never turned around, but continued laughing and chatting. I asked the dealer at the next table to try to alert the Four Card dealer that she had a player, and she said that my dealer would be right over. I lost patience, picked up my card and money and left. The Spanish 21 dealer panicked a bit, and I waved her off. I found Mrs, and we left Golden Nugget, and we won't go back.

First, the reason I didn't get demanding: I'm not there to win so much as I am to have fun. Of course I want to win, but if that was the sole reason I'd never sit down at a Four Card table! And it's no fun to demand to have fun. In my opinion, as a casual recreational gambler part of the deal the casino offers me in exchange for my accepting a high house edge is a pleasant experience, including attentiveness. I should expect it. And I'll reiterate: it is no fun to have to demand pleasantness and attentiveness. In fact, it destroys the experience. I get to be the boss 5 days a week, I don't want to be the boss when I'm on holiday. I want to be the customer.
Second, it's no skin off my nose to walk away from Four Card; it probably saved me a few hundred to do so. I enjoy playing the game, but I have no illusions about what I'm doing when I choose to play, either.

Third, this is the first I've mentioned it to anyone, or written about it. I thought about complaining, but whatever. If they're going to go down the tubes it will happen regardless. If the dealer didn't care enough at that moment, my complaining won't make her care. I don't want anything from Golden Nugget; we didn't like the place anyhow. Mrs thought the slots were old and dated. I found no reason to prefer it to Borgata. And I figure that the whole thing was caught on security cameras, and if GN cares about customer satisfaction they could deal with it without my help and input; frankly, I don't care enough about Golden Nugget to help them with their problems.

What do you think?

For the trip, I won about $1300. And I laid out some serious tippage, because that's how I roll. Too bad for that dealer, and all Golden Nugget dealers, that she chose to ignore her job.

Isn't game security and watching the rack at the top of the priorities list for dealers?

As such, and since you were really there for fun rather than an expectation of a win here's what I would have done:

Much more slowly than a dealer typically does it, I'd flash my hands, palm up. I'd then reach, slowly into the rack and perhaps touch one of the high value chips. I'd then slowly retract my hands, again flashing them palms up.

I'd then give the stormtroopers about 15 seconds to show up before leaving.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

Perhaps, on your way out, you could have commented to a floor supervisor, "I think you should check the video record of what just happened in the past five minutes over at the 4-card poker table."

Saying nothing more than that should get their attention enough to take a look, and you could have impact without having to be involved in any direct conflict yourself.

Edit: The above comment is with or without the action suggested by DJTB.

I would have walked too.

And never have said a thing.

Pit Supervision is equally at fault.

Wow, I didn't think about it from the "guarding the rack" perspective. But that is exactly what happened, yes. There was the Spanish 21 table right next, and no one at that table, either; she could probably have watched both tables, but that was not her responsibility.

I don't care about the Golden Nugget enough to say anything to them. Discussing it here is fun, because I like the people here and I enjoy the different perspectives, like the one everyone immediately saw that I didn't. But all GN can do for me is offer me stuff that I don't want, because I would have to go back to GN to take advantage of any of it... not that anything that happened rises to the level of offering me anything, or that my play would even be worth caring about. I'm no high roller, and we only go to AC 2-3 times a year, seeing as how I can walk to Mohegan Pocono Downs from where I work. And costing the dealer her job? That's between her and her employer. If she's a bad employee it will show up soon enough. The panic of the Spanish 21 dealer as I walked away led me to believe that what I was doing was going to get noticed, but again: it did or it didn't, not my problem. All that it meant to me was that I was going to play somewhere else, and soon; we left for Revel.

After a couple hours, we went back to Borgata. We dropped about $300 at Old Homestead, we played penny slots, we played $5 slots, I sat down at stupid table games and won some and lost some, I tipped like a drunk sailor on shore leave, and we had a great time. No, I'm not betting blacks and purples at blackjack and craps. I'm not bringing celebrity friends along with me. I don't have an entourage. But in my business, we have a saying: "A little, plus a little, plus a little, is a lot." You don't make your living on one or two huge deals. You make your living by making lots and lots of little deals. If you don't make the little deals word gets around, and you go out of business.

You mean the same "Pit Supervision" that couldn't deal with a clearly fixed baccarat deck and watched millions in chips float out to the players? Is this how the Golden Nugget is run in Vegas, too? In Atlantic City, it seems like nothing more than pure Amateur Hour.

Are you sure the game was open? You said it was a little after noon time,so maybe the lid was still on the rack.I can`t believe the dealer would walk away from an open table, they could get fired for that.

The neighboring dealer confirmed that it was open: "I then asked the dealer at the Spanish 21 table if my table was open, and she affirmed that it was."

I'll reiterate, I am 100% certain it was open. I asked twice, and both times I was told yes, it was.

I did have a similar experience there with the players club not being ready at 900AM to open and waited 5 minutes until the lady came out. I liked the place though and was excited seeing the older machines all my other casinos have taken out. It could be epidemic all around AC now I think about it, but I would rather be there than in Ohio.
