And then you die. Eventually.
I am in Baltimore after a nightmare trip. My wife's big brother ( 7 feet tall) has gone downhill big time since niece stole $7,000
last December. Found out recently nursing home is gonna keep him after his 30 day rehab for bad legs. Now up to 57 days, reverse mortgage kicks in a sale when he is out of home 60 days. Hopingh to keep that quiet and do something?
Now so easy now. electricity turned off $1,200. Mail from last month unopened. Reversee's want to know why home owners has lapsed. Tax notice of lien sold for 2 years back taxes. Reversee's asleep ? Truck payments 2 months behind. ( I moved the truck , but forgot where I parked it. LOL )
Brother-in-law in la-la Land. Alzheimer's. What a F***ing mess.
Somebody from here called my cell phone last night to check on me. I told him I was out of town till tomorrow. Been gone 30 years, warrants should be gone, but you never know. Cops sometime run hotel register names. THANKS FOR CALLING.
Digging thru boxes and boxes for mail, letters etc, in a house with 2 dogs, 2 cats, no electricity. Can anybody spell gas mask ???
If for some reason I forget to put a bullet in my brain on the way to a nursing home, will someone on the forum visit, and smother me with a pillow ??

I hope it all works out well Buzz and 'safe travels'.

Tough to comment on something like that, I was waiting for someone to do it.
So ditto on best wishes, Buzz.

Charles,
Through all we all have been through, my heart is with you. When it rains, it pours. We were worried, and now we know - and are sad, feeling for you, Charles.

Did her brother ever execute a durable power of attorney in favor of your sister, and if not, is he currently lucid enough to do so?
With a POA she can step in and do what is necessary to liquidate and pay.
Otherwise, a guardianship may be necessary, but that is a hassle and arguably not worth it if there are not enough assets to preserve.
Query: is the law pursuing the niece for theft?
Yeah, it sucks to get old.

Ditto.
Although your sarcasm and writing style can make you something of a PITA at times, you hold a special place our hearts.
