Colorado Gaming Commission approves 6:5 blackjack payouts for Blackhawk and Central City casinos.
The reason given is "to be competitive" with other gaming markets--but how common is 6:5? I've never heard of it offered anywhere outside of Nevada and, recently, Atlantic City.
Really hoping PA doesn't kowtow to this nonsense when they get their table games.

This trend persists because the casinos can get away with it. A lot of times, I'll walk through a casino and there's a schlub in every seat at the 6-5 tables. It infuriates me.

It will probably be approved in PA. However, since the casinos have all been operating for some time without tables, they all have the Shufflemaster Blackjack video simulated dealers which pay 3:2. If people vote with their choice, and choose to play low value games on the machines, and will only play against a live dealer if they offer 3:2, then the practice will quickly die out.

Casino floors are said to be the most ruthless environment, because games are quickly axed if they don't make money. Casino operators only get away with this scam because people permit it.

Getting more so, it seems if you see a BJ game being dealt from a SHOE you can no longer assume its 3:2 but had better check carefully because 6:5 is spreading and the press release even quoted some expert using the term "sucker bet".Quote: OneAngryDwarf--but how common is 6:5?

I kept an eye out on my trip this weekend at the Southern Indiana casions, and I didn't see 6/5 anywhere. In fact, there were some decent games even at the $10 level. At the Grand Vic tiki bar outside I played a $10 3:2 game, DAS, double on anything, with surrender. Everything I played was 6 deck shoe.
At Hollywood, at the $25 level they were dealing a double deck pitch game, 3:2, S17. I didn't play but saw some of the rules. DAS but double only on 9,10 and 11.

Actually I believe it's no DAS and double on 10 and 11 only. It also might be H17. Pretty sh*tty rules. Does Grand Vic have surrender on all their games or just the ones on the roof? I played their pitch game for a while but didn't see anyone surrendering.

Yeah it could be. It was late when I was over there and I didn't actually play the game. I do know for a fact that it was S17 though, because they had it displayed in huge lettering "STANDS ON ALL 17s".
I'm not positive on all of their games at Grand Vic. We mainly hung out on the roof, but the guy playing next to me said they had surrender down in the main pit. Could just be the shoe games though. I'm so used to it not being offered anywhere that I didn't realize it until I saw him surrender a couple times.
