I like to play VP and understand there is plenty of variance to deal with, but for the last month or so it has been like bloody murder with losses so relentless it feels like we are playing on VLTs. Session bankrolls that normally last 8 hours or more are disappearing in 3. On top of this, it almost seems like the VP gods are screwing with me. On the last trip, I was dealt 4 to a Royal one time and pulled A K Q J 9. The guy playing directly behind me hit a Royal. The lady 2 seats to my right hit 4 Aces w/kicker on Triple Bonus (Royal equivalent payout). And just to top it all off, my wife left the machine next to me to get a drink, a guy sits down and plays about 7 hands and hits 4 3's with a kicker in Triple Bonus and cashes out his fast $500 bucks.

My wife is well into a fourth cycle without a Royal at the casino, but today she got 2 Royals at home in practice play. We have planned a big trip on the 24th for my son's birthday, and I'm actually starting to dread it because the losses have been so bad. We are going to make the trip, but losing my ass every trip is getting really old and I'm wondering if the fun will ever come back to playing this game. I'm going to take a break after the 24th because there really is no point in playing when you're not having fun.

I just wanted to air my gripe. I know winning and losing comes and goes. At least I can say that we are playing within our budget and can afford to lose what we gamble. I think maybe I just need a morale boost.

This has been happening to me, lately, too. I'm hitting my first losing streak (newer player here) and it sucks. I'm down just over $700 in the last month. A buddy of mine that I usually play with started on a losing streak, and now he is winning consistently. I am now just over breaking even (by $35) and hope that I'll leave the table with some more cash sometime soon. I don't gamble with more than I can afford to lose, so that's all good.

I may have to blame teddys on my losing streak, cause it started on the day I sat down at a table with him.... haha.

Losing sucks, but I'm sure if you're playing right and making smart decisions, you'll come back out in the positive sooner or later. Keep your head up and be positive :)

Every time I think about saying "You can do it," it comes out with a latino accent, indicitive of an imitation of someone else's imitation of some famous movie quote. Sigh... I don't do the morale boosts very well.

That said, roll with it. Shit happens. It's bound to change.

Hope that helped...

Just think about what it says in the Mutual Fund Prospectii "Past performance does not guarantee future results"
Gambling is a metaphor for life. Hang around long enough and it's all gone.

You know what they say - the second-worst thing that can happen to a novice gambler is losing; the worst is winning.
The trick to poker is learning not to beat yourself up for your mistakes too much, and certainly not too little, but just the right amount.
