and indoor smokers.
they obviously have no regard for their own lives,
why would they have regard for your comfort?
i smoked for 25 years and never once did i smoke indoors.
then i decided i liked living so i quit altogether.
hey smoker!, why don't you get some self-control and quit.
or just jump off a bridge already,
that's a lot more pleasant than
the slow torturous death you will be experiencing otherwise.

There you go again, trying to "fix" someone ... That's what bugs me. Why can't people learn to mind their own business?
i will mind my own business.
i am talking specifically about indoor smokers.
they are endangering the health of the 81% of the public that chooses not to smoke.
so when i see them, and smell them,
i will be as rude as possible and make them feel as uncomfortable as i possibly can.
they are endangering my health with their selfish disgusting, anti-social behavior.
the least i can do is call them an idiot and wish them
a slow painful death from COPD, emphysema and lung cancer.
they can smoke all they want in their car, their home, or downwind,
but if i have to breathe it, then they have to listen to what i have to say about it,
and i do not hold back.
i usually just ask them point blank:
"what kind of antisocial asshole smokes inside?"
No I'm not against trained assistance animals, I just think there's a scam going on so people can drag their ordinary rodent pets everywhere.
(that's my conspiracy annoyance, as I don't have any proof)

That time has come. You don't have to breathe it. Walk away.

No, they aren't. They are only endangering the health of the public that chooses to be in the same room with them.
Walk away. Nobody forces you to be there. And it is not your "right" either. Casino is not a public area. It is a private business, that chooses to cater to smokers. You may not agree with their choices, but it is none of your business none the less.

Get to liking driving short distances. In a confrontation

Even if you are 100% in the right, you will lose. I will
say it again, I got hit by a truck, just barely tapped.

After getting hit by a car on my bike I rolled off the hood wondering where my shoes and all the belongings in my pocket went. It was just a Ford Focus so I can't imagine what a truck would feel like.

In a collision between an automobile and a pedestrian where the pedestrian is killed, the pedestrian is the winner. He has escaped all of life's burdens and responsibilities, whereas the motorist's burdens and responsibilities have taken a turn for the worse.

Lol, I guess you can make a case that being the pedestrian could be positive EV, while being a motorist is definitely negative EV.
1) My slutty ex-girlfriend.
2) People who go through the express lane at the supermarket with more items than the posted amount
3) Not smokers per se, but the ones that drop their cigarette butts on the sidewalk, street, and any other public place. Do they really think those butts just magically disappear?
4) People who will stop walking right in front of you without any consideration for people directly behind them. This is especially annoying in congested high pedestrian traffic areas like amusement parks, or the LV strip.
5) Services that give you a four or five hour window when they will show up at your house. For instance, if I need my cable provider to come out, thanks for nothing for the half day off I need to give up so you can take care of a 15 minute issue.

Be advised: The Toledo Ohio casino not only hired only non-smokers but will be conducting random drug tests to continue to exclude smokers from their ranks.

I find that hard to believe. Are you saying workers, with no notice, with no probable cause, will be subject to some test that will determine if you smoked? I hope it is not a nicotine test, as many ex smokers take nicotine gum, etc.
As much as I abhor smoking, I can't imagine requiring someone not to smoke when not at the workplace.
Can you post a link?

I have heard of this happening in a few other places. Legally it may straddle a line as smoking is legal but there is nothing forcing association between the potential employee and the casino. If it were a change in rule after hire i would have a bigger problem. But the libertarian in me says a private party should be able to choose who they hire on any basis they like, including appearance and personal behavior. Places that choose for bad reasons will have a smaller applicant pool and the business disadvantage is theirs to sort out.
I've heard similar things, like not hiring overweight people, even for ordinary desk jobs that had little interation with the customers.
The reason: Higher health insurance premiums.
I have no personal experience and no idea of it's true, but I have heard of it....

As long as smokers are not a "protected class" (they are not), a (private) employer can use any policy it wants to discriminate against them. I too heard of this happening in other places. The reason, usually quoted (reduced health insurance prices) seems bogus (never heard of a (group) policy provider offering discounts like that), I think, it is more likely, that some overzealous business owner (the "fix everyone mentality", kinda like WongBo has been exhibiting here) is trying to make a point.
i want them to inhale as much as they can and not exhale it near me.
in fact, i hope they smoke more when they are in their car and at home.
i own tobacco stocks and i get rich while they kill themselves.

smokers, please continue to smoke as heavily as possible!
but as you know, when it comes to indoor smokers,
i like to get as classless as they are.
smoke INDOORS and they will be treated like the anti-social, selfish pigs that they are.

Life insurance offers the discount, maybe there is a utilization rate you pay for some group plans and the employer feels smokers raise rates?
Ot maybe most employers realize smokers historically take more breaks than non-smokers. Where I am at now you can tell the smokers because they are just dying for break if a training class goes a few minutes long.
Quote: AZDuffmanLife insurance offers the discount, maybe there is a utilization rate you pay for some group plans and the employer feels smokers raise rates?
They are usually taking about health insurance price savings, not life insurance.
But even for life, the individual rates are indeed cheaper for nonsmokers, but I never heard of a group rate discount based on that (although it is easier to imagine than for medical coverage, I'll give you that) - this is a blanket coverage, accepting everyone, with any type of a pre-existing condition, it would be extremely weird to specifically exclude smokers. The reason group insurance is different is that it only covers you as long as you are a member of the group. If you are going to die from cancer, chances are you will quit your job first anyway. The biggest risk in policies like this is accidental deaths, not poor life style choices.
Quote:Ot maybe most employers realize smokers historically take more breaks than non-smokers.
Well most definitely do not :) (and it is generally not true. You should see our billiards room filled with non-smokers for the most part of the work day). Some might believe it, I guess ... that's kinda what I meant when I said I thought they were trying to make some kind of a point.

We used to see that all the time in the winter in

in front of you house, but 2 out 3 houses in the poor

I am a smoker. I like to think of myself as a considerate one. I know that my choice to smoke (irrational as it may be) can affect others so I try to minimise that as much as I can, for examle blowing smoke away from anyone even if they smoke. Its common courtesy to try not just thinking of myself.
I do however reserve the right to shoot you a hell of a dirty look and a sarcastic comment if I am sat alone at a bank of machines while smoking and you come and sit right next to me and loudly cough (fakely) while glaring at me.
Only the Wiz, Doc and anyone else I may have met at WoVCon I and forgot to list can tell me If I am as considerate as I think I am.
And I wont be offended If you choose to use me as an examle in either scenario (considerate/selfish smoker)

Exhaling in general is a biological mechanism and not something I can control.
With regards to smoking, I accet that smoking is my choice and not someone else, and I resect that. I would just hoe for the same from others.

No chance the anti-smokers on here would even sit next to you if you were smoking, so don't worry about it. Smoking is like having bizarre facial hair, excessive piercings or weird clothing; it's your own way of telling people to stay away. It's the human equivalent of those brightly colored frogs in nature..."I'm poison!!!".
