The vernal equinox was yesterday, Mar 20. The
word equinox means equal in Latin, the day and
night are 12 hours long. Why, then, was sunrise
and sunset 14min apart in my area.

I think it's because you don't live on the Equator.

Its usually a minute or two apart, I've never seen it 14min apart.
