PG, I noticed you have chips from the Oyo, STRAT, and Circa, but do you have one from the Sahara? Or are they the same as they were before it was rebranded the SLS?

Thatdonguy youíre ruining todayís chip of the day lol. They are different than the original Sahara but I wasnít of age when Sahara closed anyways.

As far as the case/display Milly I havenít set anything up yet. A mixture of laziness and the fact that I work away from home 6-9 months a year.

Casino: Sahara

Today's chip of the day is from the Sahara Casino which is the former SLS which was the former Sahara, fun right? The original Sahara close May 16, 2011 and sat dormant until SLS bought it and rebranded it. SLS opened August 23, 2014 and would no longer be known as SLS after September 30, 2019. The next day the casino opened as Sahara and they started the rebranding while the casino was in operation.

I stopped into Sahara the same night that I walked, yes walked to The Strat from Caesars. I played some BJ with some old ladies to get my chip. The casino has 710 slot machines and Casinocity says they have 70 table games which seems insane cause I don't remember anywhere near that many.

The chip is blue with two pink edge inserts and the casino name etched into the chip twice. I say this every time I post a chip with it but I think this is one of the classiest ways to spruce up a chip. The centre inlay is also blue with the casino name and location in black and the denomination in white. There is a small Paulson Hat and Cane logo to the right of the denom.

They are different than the original Sahara but ....

For some time, I have pondered just how I would handle the "Sahara vs. Sahara" issue in my own collection (and the display I have shared in this thread many times.) Now that PG has posted the new Sahara chip, I was faced with the issue of how to make the distinction in the thread's index of chips. Didn't turn out to be much of an issue there -- hope my solution is suitable to all.

That works perfectly and is actually how the chip guide did it as well.

Casino: Mohegan Sun

Today's chip of the day is from Mohegan Sun Casino inside the Virgin Hotel. Mohegan Sun Casino is in the former Hard Rock Casino which closed on February 3, 2020 just before the pandemic. If I am remembering correctly they originally were only going to close for 8 months to remodel but ended up being closed for 13 months because of the pandemic until March 5, 2021. The casino and hotel is owned my Virgin and the casino is contracted out to the Mohegan Tribe that own the casino in Connecticut. I wasn't very impressed by the casino and their 650 slot machines and 65 table games. Same thing as yesterday, I don't remember there being anywhere near 65 tables.

The chip is a plain blue Paulson RHC with no edge inserts. The centre inlay has a gold hot stamp of the casino name, logo, location and the chip denomination. The higher value chips are much nicer and not hot stamped. I don't understand why they decided to go cheap on the $1 chips, it just seems silly to me.

This is my last new chip from Nevada as I haven't had a chance to go to Resorts World, they opened a few days after I left. I will start on a new state tomorrow.

Now I just have to wait for the complaint(s) that someone has checked the thread index and discovered that we don't have a CCotD from the Virgin Hotel Casino in Las Vegas! (I even had it down as "Virgin Casino" in my own list of chips to get."

Work is crazy and super profitable at the moment which is why Iím slacking on my chip duties. I will get back to it ASAP.

Also because of how good work is going right now Iíve decided to postpone my Euro trip I think (havenít officially canceled my flight). An unforeseen thing happened that is directly causing my income to go up 25% a day which is too much to not take advantage of. If anyone is confused yes my job is gambling related.

State: Minnesota
City: Cass Lake
Casino: Cedar Lakes

Today's chip of the day (or week depending how lazy I am) is from Cedar Lakes Casino in Cass Lake, Minnesota. This is a sort of rename but not really. The Palace Casino was located at 6280 Upper Cass Frontage Road and was torn down by the owners for the new Cedar Lakes Casino at 6268 Upper Cass Frontage Road. Cedar Lakes Casino has 650 slots and 6 table games. I picked up my car that I had shipped across the closed border in Grand Forks and headed to this sort of renamed casino. I had a plan to continue onto another casino that day but got there exhausted so I stayed at their very nice hotel for the night. I made some money picking off a few plays on the slots and then played a few hands of BJ when it opened later that night before crashing for the night.

The chip is I believe a white ceramic with 8 purple edge inserts and 4 purple squares between each set of chips. The centre inlay is I assume Cass Lake with a sunset. The casino name is half in turquoise and half grey. The chip denom is white.
