I think it took me well over a week to post my chips I gathered during Spring Fling so no judgement coming from me.

Two things: (1) If you have your own Rivers commemorative chip (not just a link to someone else's), go ahead and post an image. I'll add a link to it back where we first covered the casino in this thread.

(2) As for your Jack Cleveland chip, let's see whether you can get a photo and prepare a properly-formatted and informative CCotD "official" entry before I can get back home and do the equivalent thing for my one new chip from my current trip.

I will add the rivers chip. If you have the Cleveland chip I will let you do the official write up. You will probably have more detail than I would.

Confusion. Probably my fault. No, I do not have the new chip from Cleveland. I have a completely different one from maybe 800 or so miles away. I was sorta challenging you to see which of us could get a new chip post prepared first. I'm not feeling all that motivated, so you have a great chance for victory.

Whoops! My mistake. Challenge off. It seems I won't be posting a new CCotD entry after all.

As my wife and I returned from our visit to Florida, we stopped off in Brunswick, GA and sailed on the Emerald Princess II casino boat, where I collected my souvenir chip. I had in mind to post that one upon my return home, having completely forgotten that Konbu had provided this thread with that chip some two years and two months ago!

I did have one strange experience aboard this boat. I am familiar with these day-cruise casino boats having everything shut down until they reach some distance off shore (3 miles, I think), but it certainly appeared that there were folks playing the slot machines by the time the boat pulled away from the pier. Table games didn't open for more like an hour and a half after that.

During that period, I asked one of the dealers about those slot machines that appeared to be in operation. He said that under Georgia Law, you could not play for real money within the state boundaries, though at times there had been "casinos" where you could win merchandise. In the case of the boat's casino, it seems that the machine credits are not viewed as "real" money. You can put currency in, play the machine, and even print out a TITO slip while still in the state's waters. You just can't cash it in until you are outside of the state's jurisdiction. Same issue becomes a problem if you are too slow to redeem a ticket on the way back in.

That seems a bit screwy to me, but there's a lot of strange things that go on in Georgia. I'm still not sure why playing for clay chips inside the state is a violation if playing for a TITO slip is not. Seems as if we should be able to buy in as we leave the pier, play for an additional hour and a half, and then redeem the chips before returning to Georgia waters. Anyone have any insight on this?

My souvenir chip is just like the one that Konbu posted, and I can now verify that there is nothing on the chip that fluoresces under UV light.

I wasn't born there, and I don't live there now. However, I have lived in Georgia four times in my life, with the first being 1946-1951 and the most recent being 1978-2008. Altogether, more than half of my life has been spent living in Georgia. I made plenty of critical comments even while a resident.

You just can't claim that there is not something screwy about a state where Lester Maddox was governor. And I was living there when he was elected -- not by the general population of registered voters but instead by the state legislature!

Question Doc:
Do you consider that chip to be from Georgia and therefore a chip from the USA or is it a cruise ship chip or... both! I blew your mind there didn't I, threw you for a loop? No? Ok well I still think the question is valid. I think that I am starting to sound like 2F a bit.
