City: Fort McDowell
Casino: We-Ko-Pa
Today's chip of the day is from the We-Ko-Pa Casino in Fort McDowell, Arizona. We-Ko-Pa is the former Fort McDowell Casino that I sadly didn't get to visit before it was rebranded on 10/28/20. The casino is run by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and has 923 slot machines and 17 table games/poker. I was never in the casino prior to the rebranding but based on the brand new feel of the casino I would assume that it got a pretty good makeover with the name change. I played BJ to get my chip and if memory serves (which is debatable) I won a few bucks. I guess I really should keep notes of my play when I collect chips but where would be the fun in that? I stopped into the casino on my drive from Austin, TX to Las Vegas in I think April of this year. My plan was to pick up chips from all the NM and AZ casinos that I was missing in my collection but due to Covid some casinos were still closed or in NM were only allowing locals to enter. Sadly that means I will have to make a 4th trip to AZ and 3rd to NM to try and complete those two state collections at some point.
The chip is white with two blue edge inserts and is the same style of chip that Doc posted from the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas that he guessed was a Bud Jones chip. The centre inlay is a grey/turquoise/black pattern that reminds me of a casino carpet. The casino name and chip denom are both white with the casino logo (mountain range) also in white above the casino name.
Anyways I give Doc permission to yell at me if I fall off the wagon again.

Who the heck needs permission? I'm just too lazy to yell. ;-)
Quote: PokerGrinderI am headed to Panama for a poker series on Dec 5 and will collect all the chips I can there as I have never been before. I don't play much poker at all anymore due to my career shift almost two years ago but I was offered a free 4 star hotel for a week and $600 USD if I came and played the $1500 Main Event. The deal was wayyyyy too good rto pass up as it is basically a free trip to a country that I haven't been to before.

City: Laveen
Casino: Vee Quiva
Today’s chip of the day is from Vee Quiva Casino in Laveen, AZ. Vee Quiva opened on December 17, 1997. This chip is both new and old. RDW posted his chip from Gila River Casinos back in January of 2013. All 3 casinos used to use the same chips that listed all 3 casinos on them. In 2017 they decided to get new chips made for each casino with just their name on it. I originally collected the chip that was used for all 3 casinos but I replaced it this year with a new chip from each casino. Vee Quiva has 921 slots and 44 table games/poker tables. I played BJ to get my chip but I again don’t remember if I won or loss.
The chip is a white Paulson LCV with 4 edge inserts in green and pink. The chip only has two top hat and canes because the Gila River Casinos is etched into the chip twice. I always mention this when it comes to chips like this but I find this style of chip with the name etched into the chip to be the nicest looking chip. The centre inlay has a picture of the casino with the casino name in brown and sandy brown with the casino logo underneath in grey. The “hotel and casino” is black and the denomination is white. The back of the chip has a colourful inlay with the Gila River Casinos, the logo and the denom once again.
City: Chandler
Casino: Lone Butte
Today's chip of the day is from Lone Butte Casino in Chandler, Arizona. There are some discrepancies about the opening dates. I believe the original Lone Butte opened on 25/04/94 as per the chip guide. They list the "new" Lone Butte casino twice which I assume means they built a better, bigger building and moved the casino operations to the new building. The problem here is that the chip guide lists both 1/25/02 and 10/08 as the "new" casino opening dates. I guess we will never know for sure. The casino has 824 slots and 24 table games/poker tables. As per usual I played BJ to collect my chip and won or loss some nominal amount of money.
The chip is a white LCV with 4 edge inserts in orange and blue. The chip has Gila River Casino etched into the outer ring of the chip. The centre inlay has a picture of the casino with the casino name in black and sandy brown above the casino logo. "Casino" is black and the chip denomination is white. The back of the chip has a colourful centre inlay with Gila River Casinos in red, sandy brown and black and the denom in white.
City: Chandler
Casino: Wild Horse Pass
Today's chip of the day is from Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler, Arizona. This is the third and final (for now, Gila is building a new casino) Gila River Casino that I have to post. Wild Horse Pass has better info on the chip guide. The casino opened June 3, 1995 in a temporary spot until the permanent building was finished and ready for operations in November of 1997, A decade later they started to build a new location closer to the freeway and that location was opened in October of 2009. The casino has over 1100 slots, I wasn't able to get a table count as Casinocity is down the casino's website doesn't say. Who wants to guess what I played to collect my chip and the result?
The chip is white LCV with 4 edge inserts in orange and green. Gila River Casino is etched into the outside of the chip like the previous two chip of the days. The centre inlay is a picture of the casino with the casino name is red/yellow/red with "Hotel & Casino" in black underneath the grey logo. The chip denomination is white. The back of the chip is the same as the previous two days with a colourful centre inlay with Gila River Casinos in brown/dandy brown/black with a grey logo separating the words.
City: Greensburg
Casino: Live!
Today's chip of the day is from Live! Casino in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Live! Casino Pittsburgh opened on 11/24/20 as one of the new casino licenses given out over the last couple of years in Pennsylvania. I had seen these licenses advertised as "mini casinos" but this casino was definitely not small with 750 slots and 30 table games. All the BJ tables were closed so I played baccarat which I have done from time to time. For once I remember the outcome which was a $100 win and a new souvenir.
The chip is a white RHC with two pink edge inserts. The centre inlay is dark pink with a lighter pink star that takes up most of the inlay. The chip lists Westmoreland as the location even though the casino is definitely in Greensburg. "Live!" is red with the "casino Pittsburg" is in black. The denom is white with a black border and the incorrect location is white.
City: Bethlehem
Casino: Wind Creek
Today's chip of the day is from Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. On May 31, 2019 it was announced that Wind Creek Hospitality had purchased Sands Casino from Las Vegas Sands. Later that year the name was changed to Wind Creek Casino. Wind Creek Hospitality is owned by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians from Alabama. The tribe also owns 3 casinos in Alabama, 1 in Nevada, 1 in Aruba, 1 in Curacao, 2 racetrack poker rooms in Florida and another racetrack in Alabama. Sadly although it was on my list I never managed to get to Sands before the name change so I will have to add it to my chip list of disappointments (just kidding). I stopped into to Wind Creek on my way south from Boston earlier this year. I believe I played poker for about a hour here as the table games were all very busy on a Friday night. I actually prefer to collect my chips while playing poker because it gives me more opportunity to sort through $1 chips to find the best one.
The chip is a white RHC with 4 orange creamsicle edge inserts. The centre inlay is white with the casino name, location and chip denom all in black. The Wind Creek logo is a red circle with a "W" inside of it. I like the look of this chip as the centre inlay is very clean looking and uncluttered.
City: Terral
Casino: Riverstar
Today’s chip of the day is from Riverstar Casino in Terral, Oklahoma. Riverstar Casino opened on March 1, 2018 and has 644 slots and 6 table games. I actually got stuck going to this casino twice to get my chip. This was my last stop of the night driving through Oklahoma from Missouri. Originally the plan was to be coming from Kansas and have a 4 hour shorter drive but I got stuck on a slot machine play in Caruthersville, MO the day before for 6 hours and didn’t make it to my originally booked hotel. I booked one much closer to Caruthersville which meant I had quite a bit more driving the next day. I would have left earlier in the morning but my first stop was at Kansas Crossing and their tables didn’t open until a certain time. Basically it all ended up being a big mess. That all brings us to me getting to to Riverstar after their tables had closed for the night. So I drove to my hotel in Dallas where I was staying for a few days and then two days later made the almost 4 hour round trip drive to Riverstar again, this time I was able to play BJ and collect my chip.
The chip is white with a star motif on it. This is another of the smooth chips that are similar to Chipcos but Doc thought previously might be made by Bud Jones. The centre inlay has a yellow border and is mostly white inside. The casino name is blue with the “A” in Riverstar replaced by a star with a shooting star graphic. The denom is in black on the yellow part of the inlay.
City: Guymon
Casino: Golden Mesa
Today’s chip of the day is from Golden Mesa Casino in Guymon, Oklahoma. Guymon is located in the panhandle of Oklahoma, I’m not sure why but I have always liked the term panhandle. Golden Mesa Casino opened 9/12/2019 with 600 slot machines and 8 table games. I visited this casino when I was leaving Texas to head back to Las Vegas, no this was not a very efficient route. I walked into Golden Mesa Casino and immediately had deja vu, I had to check my list of chips to see if I had been here years ago and already had the chip but I didn’t. As I walked around I realized why it was so familiar, the casino was an exact replica of yesterday’s chip of the day Riverstar Casino. Every wall, every bank of slots, the table games, the restaurant, the bathrooms even the weird slot alcove were the same. I did some research figuring they were owned by the same tribe but they weren’t. At that point I assumed that the same company built both casinos but I still find it weird that they built two exact replica casinos. I played BJ to get my chip before heading to my hotel for the night.
The chip is the same smooth Bud Jones style as yesterday’s chip from Riverstar. The chip is white with two brown edge inserts. The centre inlay has a brown/yellow border and sand/black centre. The casino name and logo are on the black section with the denom on the yellow part, all writing is white.
City: Broken Bow
Casino: Choctaw
Today's chip of the day is from Choctaw Casino in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Try as I might I couldn't find the opening date of this casino anywhere on the world wide web. The farthest back that I was able to trace the casino is to a TITO from 2012 that was posted on the chip guide. Choctaw Broken Bow has 475 slots and 5 table games. This is one of the casinos that has slipped through my memory so I can't tell you anything about my experience.
The chip is white with 8 edge inserrs, 4 small yellow ones with lighter yellow streaks through them and 4 large baby blue with 2 white line in the middle of them. The centre inlay is half light blue and half dark blue. Choctaw is black with two red feathers coming from the "C" and the rest of the casino name in red. The denom is two shades of yellow with a black border and the location is white. The top of the inlay has a small black marking that looks like an unfinished spade, I am not sure if that is supposed to be the maker's logo or not.
This is my last chip from Oklahoma, tomorrow we take a short detour to New Mexico.
City: Albuquerque
Casino: Isleta
Today's chip of the day is from Isleta Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Isleta Casino history is a tad odd. Isleta opened on 7/1/2008 then rebranded to Hard Rock from 2010-2013 when it rebranded again back to Isleta. Isleta Casino has 1799 slots and 30 table games/poker tables, I made a bunch of money on some slot machine plays and then found an open seat at a BJ table for a few hands which was hard to do. After leaving Isleta I had a lot less luck as most casinos in NM either hadn't opened, hadn't reopened their tables or were only letting NM locals into the casinos. This means that I will have to make another trip to Nm at some point since I am still missing a bunch of chips from the area.
The chip is white with 4 faded orange inserts that used to reach the rim of the chip. There are also 4 turquoise ones between each red one touching the centre inlay. The centre inlay has 3 rings around it in orange, turquoise and black. The Isleta logo is a eagle? Feel free to correct me on that one. The bird is red with two shades of brown. The casino name is brown while the denom and "resort casino" is red. The chip has the same little black logo as yesterday's chip and since this chip is the same as my other chipco chips I will assume this logo represents the new company. I zoomed in on the logo and it isn't a leaf but I think "G O".
I managed to lose $60 playing $5 craps at that Hard Rock casino (now once again the Isleta) between stops at the Sandia and Route 66 casinos. When I posted that chip in this thread, I provided a link to an Albuquerque Journal article (unfortunately no longer available on line) from which I quoted a line saying, "... the casino operated under the Isleta brand for twenty years before aligning with Hard Rock three years ago." I don't have the article any more, but that statement seems to conflict with the source you found saying that the place just opened in 2008.
I think they didn't have (legal) casinos at all in New Mexico when I lived there in 1969-71.
Any idea as far as the makers mark on what I would 100% say is a chipco style?

It looks very similar to the mark on the Platinum Series Mohican North Star Roulette chip on the Game On Chipco website.
I am not willing to drive to Bowler at this time to investigate further. Sorry. :)
edit: That should be North Star Mohican Casino, not Mohican North Star Casino. Sorry.
I can tell you it is just up the road from the health center they talked about on The West Wing in the "Indians in the Lobby" episode.

City: Mescalero
Casino: Inn of the Mountain Gods
Today's chip of the day is from Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino in Mescalero, New Mexico. Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino opened on 3/15/2005 and has 640 slots and 33 table games and poker tables. I stopped at this middle of nowhere casino on my way from Black Hawk to El Paso, TX during that weird cold spell in Texas earlier this year. I ended up making a couple grand playing off some good slot plays which is not surprising as these out of the way casinos usually don't tend to have many vultures so there can be some decent money to be made when stopping through. I grabbed my chip while losing $400 playing BJ which I remember because I only won 2 hands in my short visit to the table games. I had some pretty good nachos at their bar/restaurant before heading to El Paso.
The chip is a white RHC with 4 blue edge inserts and an oversized inlay. The inlay has a light blue outer layer with the casino name and location in black. The inner white portion has an Aboriginal design which includes the denom in the middle. I am not even going to try and explain what the design on either side of the chip is.
Tomorrow we are taking a road trip to Florida.
City: Hialeah
Casino: Hialeah Park
Today's chip of the day is from Hialeah Park in Hialeah, Florida. Hialeah Park opened on 8/142013 and is listed as having 868 slots and 32 poker tables but they do list table games on their website so possibly they weren't open because of covid. I played poker for about 20 minutes to collect a chip. I would have stayed longer but I had a friend collecting with me and we had quite a few more casinos to visit in the Miami area that night,
The chip is white with 3 sets of blue needle nose plier inserts and 12 blue blue dots around the chip like a clock. The centre inlay is blue with the casino name, denom and 2 flamingos logo in a darker pink. The casino name is black across what looks like a ribbon.
Quote: PokerGrinder,,, is listed as having 868 slots and 32 poker tables but they do list table games on their website so possibly ....
Hmmm. Maybe I need to check out some FL casinos a little closer. I saw several listed as having slots and poker but with no other table games listed. Since I am not really a poker player, I skipped those places when I was collecting chips on trips to that state. Maybe I missed some opportunities.

I actually misread the website and they don’t have real table games but quite a few of the miami area card rooms did have a few table games. My memory sucks but I played table games in at least 3 Miami area card rooms that weren’t the Seminole casinos.
I know I have seen ads and maybe even a few buildings for card rooms, but I was given the impression that none of them had house-banked table games (like BJ or craps) or even third-party-banked games like I played in California.
I think most cardrooms in FL have 3rd party-banked games now. I know both Best Bet locations in the Jacksonville area have Pai Gow, 3-Card Poker, and UTH.Quote: DocI know I have seen ads and maybe even a few buildings for card rooms, but I was given the impression that none of them had house-banked table games (like BJ or craps) or even third-party-banked games like I played in California.
Edit: oh and creek entertainment definitely had tables as well.
Quote: PokerGrinderYou’re correct, Pensacola had a few tables and I think the same for the Tampa Bay card rooms. I think there were only a few spots that didn’t have at least a couple table games.

Palm Beach Kennel Club didn't have any table games.
City: Orange City
Casino: Orange City Card Club
Today's chip of the day is from Orange City Card Club in Orange City, Florida. Orange City Card Club opened on 3/1/2017 and has a mixture of table and poker games. I was in a crunch for time when I stopped here so I played Face Up Pai Gow for about 20 minutes and won $100. I don't know why but I much prefer Face Up over normal Pai Gow so I am happy to see it taking off over the last few years in more regions. I had a very fun dealer who was rooting for all the players to win which is a great strategy in a tipped position. I will never understand the surly dealer, catch more bees with honey as they say.
The chip is blue with 3 large white and 3 small blue edge inserts. The centre inlay is a picture of the card club with the denom at the top and bottom of the inlay in white and the card club's name in orange and black. The reverse side of the chip has a blue centre inlay with 4 blue silhouettes of racing dogs. The four suits are in the middle of the inlay with card club name the same as the front. The denom is only at the top of the inlay as the bottom is where they list the card club's website. If you zoom in on the picture of the chip you can see that the chip edges are quite chewed up and this was by far the nicest of the chips I saw. The chips are made of a hard plastic and it looks some was grinding them against a wood chipper lol. Not sure what causes this type of damage.
City: Pensacola
Casino: Pensacola Greyhound Track
Today's chip of the day is from Pensacola Greyhound Track in Pensacola, Florida. This is going to be very short because I can't find any info on the opening of the facility, their exact offerings or ever being at this poker room. So without further or do... actually that is all.
The chip is a white textured chip with 2 blue edge inserts and a blue circle around the rim of the chip. The racetrack name, location and chip denom are all blue with a blue racing dog with a yellow racing jacket.
City: Summerfield
Casino: Oxford Downs
Today's chip of the day is from Oxford Downs in Summerfield, Florida. Oxford Downs opened on 5/24/2016 and offers both poker and house banked table games. If my memory serves me right I actually played Casino War at this property due to time constraints. Interesting note, they are only allowed to offer house banked poker games so instead of calling it Casino War they call it one card poker which is pretty funny if you ask me.
The chip is grey with two darker grey edge inserts. The centre inlay is a very light grey with a yellow ring around it. The Oxford Downs logo is black and gold and has a horse coming out of the top of it. There are a bunch of smaller Oxford Downs logos faded into the background of the inlay. The location and denom are in black at bottom of the inlay. The other side of the chip has a white rectangle going through the middle of the inlay with the denom. Above the white portion is a gold and white horse and below the white is the full name of the facility and the location. The faded logo is in the background of the inlay on this side of the chip as well.
City: Sarasota
Casino: Sarasota Kennel Club
Today's chip of the day is from One Eyed Jacks Poker Room in the Sarasota Kennel Club in Sarasota, Florida. I found a lot of unhelpful information as to the origins and current poker room. I went to this kennel club only to find it closed with a sign telling me the new address. Problem with that was I had no data and couldn't find any wifi. I ended up stopping at a 7-11 where the worker was very kind and showed me on my google maps how to get there and also didn't charge me for my ice cream sandwich either. I found the new location without too much trouble and found a Face Up Pai Gow table to play a few hands and collect a chip. I am assuming that the poker room attached to a race track law has changed because the new location clearly had no racetrack.
The chip is blue RHC with two edge inserts in blue and purple. The oversized inlay is purple/white with a big white dog with an eye patch and a scarf tjat says "One Eyed Jacks". The denom is white and the track name and location is in yellow.
City: Port Richey
Casino: Tropical Breeze
Today's chip of the day is from the Tropical Breeze Day Cruise in Port Richey, Florida. This cruise ship formerly went by the Port Richey name that wezvidz posted about back in June, 2014. This casino boat was much smaller than the Victory Cruise that I had gone on a few weeks prior, The second floor had 3 BJ, 1 roulette and 1 UTH game available and a craps table that was not in service. The main deck of the boat had 30-40 slot machines and a small bar while the top level of the boat had tables to eat at and a place for musical entertainment. My friend and I paid $10 each to get on the cruise and it lasted for 4 or 5 hours which was too long for such a small boat. The table limits were small but we were betting more than anyone on the boat which wasn't hard. We were only betting $25-$50 a hand and having drinks as quick as they would bring them. A couple hours into the cruise we made our way to the main floor bar where you can order food. We ordered meals and some apps and drinks when the bartender told us that we were being comped by the owner of the boat. Your action really does go farther depending on where you play. Anyways despite the fact that we were trapped on the boat for too long we had fun and I was able to collect a new (old looking) chip.
The chip is a disaster! Sadly the picture I posted is totally in focus and that is just the horrible quality chip that I was able to get. I am honestly not sure if the chip was white at some point but now it is slightly yellow with 4 grey edge inserts. The centre inlay is a sunset on a beach with a palm tree that doubles as the "T" in Tropical Breeze. The cruise's name is green and the denom is white.
City: Ebro
Casino: Ebro Greyhound Park
Today's chip of the day is from Shuffles Card Room at Ebro Greyhound Park in Ebro, Florida. I ended up at this poker room midday on my way back into central Florida as I drove around the state collecting chips from all the card rooms. I played poker for a hour or so and the average age at the table was about 70 even with me bringing down the average. The cardroom also had a few table games that people were playing while waiting for a seat on the poker table.
The chip is a white RHC with 3 split blue/purple edge inserts. The centre inlay is very colourful but I am not going to even venture a guess as to what it is. The card room name is light purple, the denom is darker purple and the Greyhound name is white.
City: Napa
Casino: Ace & Vine
Today's chip came from my visit on Saturday to this cardroom/casino in the Northern California city of Napa, famous for its wine-production and wineries. It's a 5-minute drive from Downtown Napa, which — though I grew up in the S.F. Bay Area — I had never visited. The area is generally highfalutin, but the casino happens to be a block away from a Walmart.
Two security guards greet you to check ID as you enter. The casino is a relatively small room with two poker tables (that I saw), a couple $10 minimum California No Bust blackjack tables (at least one is 6-5 blackjack), Baccarat, and Pai Gow Poker (not running when we visited). Both poker tables were $2-$3 no-limit hold 'em. I asked about Omaha, and was told they sometimes have games on Wednesdays. It was pretty slow during Thanksgiving weekend, with seats available at both tables even at 10 p.m.
The establishment seems to be known for its food, because it has a huge patio deck — the restaurant is appropriately named "The Deck." What was really nice was the outdoor couch seating with a fire table AND an overhead heat lamp. Despite 50-degree temperatures, the Mrs. and I lounged in warmth. I asked a bartender if he could make an Irish coffee and he responded affirmatively, immediately heading over to a different area to make (or get?) the coffee. It was a $12 drink. I settled in at the outdoor couch, and quickly realized that I could have just ordered outside. There's plenty of staff around to take orders for food and drinks.
I went back in to play some poker, and found all the dealers to be chatty and friendly. Everyone wore masks at the table. Most of the time we were 5- or 6-handed, though we did get up to 8-handed at one point. A couple players were apparently new because the dealer asked them to protect their cards with a chip. At least on this night, the players were fairly tame with frequent small raises, but few re-raises. One rule quirk is that any position is allowed to straddle, and action starts after the straddler. I won three hands in an hour and finished up $81, including the chip that I saved.
One of the dealers was playing at the table, and I asked if he was playing with house money, and was told they play with their own. I asked how long the casino has been around and was told it just opened this past February. They seem to be doing a great job, and I wouldn't mind returning some day.
City: Calgary
Casino: ACE Blackfoot
Today's chip of the day if from Ace Casino in Calgary, Alberta. On July 5th and 6th of 2015 I posted the previous names that this casino went by. A quick recap, Silver Dollar Casino opened July, 1996 and ran until January, 2010 which I now realize is incorrect on the chipguide. I didn't make my first trip to Calgary until December, 2010 so that means that Silver Dollar Casino was still there. Anyways, chipguide says that Century Casino opened in November, 2010 which is also wrong due to me collecting my Silver Dollar chip in Decemebr of 2010. As far as the current Ace Casino it isn't listed on the chipguide but I was in Calgary at the end of September this year and Century was still there, but when I moved here second week of November it was now Ace. I am usually on top of name changes but I didn't know about this one until I showed up at the casino.
I will share what I know about this name change, the casino was sold by Century to the owners of Cash Casino down the street, Cash Casino rebranded their poker room to Ace Poker Room this summer and then changed the name of their new acquisition to the same Ace name. I have been told they are currently building a new casino in northern Calgary where they will move Cash Casino and then Ace will move into the old Cash Casino and I assume keep the poker room with the matching name. I don't think that Cash will change their name when they move but I hope they do so I can add a new chip to my collection.
Ace Casino has 529 slot machines and 16 table games. I visit this casino most days on my rounds, they don't have a ton of machines of value to me but since it is 2 minutes from Cash Casino it is part of my route.
The chip is blue with 4 edge inserts that alternate between light blue and dark blue. The centre inlay has a light blue ring with 4 light blue "1's" around it. the centre inlay is glossy black with a slightly yellow logo and the casino name and chip denom in white. Blackfoot is the street that Cash Casino is on while Ace Casino is on 42nd street. It seems like they did this instead of making new chips when they move to the Blackfoot location next year.

I just realized I posted a chip with almost the same name as Smooth, didn’t notice until now.
City: Chatham
Casino: Cascades
Today's chip of the day if from Cascades Casino in Chatham, Ontario. Cascades Casino opened on August 8, 2019 as one of the many new casinos being built by Gateway Casinos. I stopped here earlier this year when my friend and I decided to drive to the Maritimes. We got to the casino a hour before the table games opened so I wasted some time on a few slot machines before playing BJ to collect my chip.
The chip is a white RHC with two green edge inserts. The centre inlay is undersized which I can't remember seeing but I am sure I have before. The centre inlay is white with the same Cascades logo as the British Colombia Cascade Casinos. The casino name and chip denom are both black.
City: Pickering
Casino: Pickering
Today’s chip of the day is from Pickering Casino in Pickering, Ontario. This is another of the brand new Ontario casinos opened up recently as part of the Ontario gaming expansion. Pickering Casino opened in July 2021. It is owned by the same company that owns the closest casino (Woodbine) in nearby Toronto. Pickering Casino is very large with its offering of 2000 slot machines and 100 table games. My friend and I found a smorgasbord of machine plays so I think we ended up staying for about 4-5 hours. After we were done we went to the tables to collect a chip each. Minimums are huge like at neighbouring Woodbine. The lowest they offer for any game is $50 so I played a few hands of Casino War so Eric and I could collect our chips. I think we won both hands for a quick $100 and left.
I mentioned when we went there was a smorgasbord of free money to collect all over the place, we stopped in 2 weeks later and there were a ton of vultures rounding the casino.
The chip is off white plastic chip similar to the BC chips. The chip has 3 brown edge inserts with a white centre inlay. The casino logo is in the middle with the casino name, location and chip denom all in black.

I just realized I posted a chip with almost the same name as Smooth, didn’t notice until now.

I was wondering if that was intentional!

... you're both aces in my book?
And I know this thread doesn't usually include chips that aren't from a casino, I figure this is an acceptable exception, since they are advertising the chip manufacturer and are unique in size & shape. While I like to get free stuff, I try not to take up too much of the rep's time. Suffice to say, they were presenting these chips as high value options.
I got this one about 6 years ago. It's a bit dirty since I've been using it as a card guard when I play poker. More than once I've included it with my chips when going to the cage, only to have the cashier be confused and start to ask a supervisor about it before I 'realize' that I gave her the chip in error. 🤪
Front & back are the same. Note that it's imprinted with www.catcogaming.com but that website doesn't exist.
It's not much bigger than a standard chip. I measured it at 44mm across, or 47mm corner to corner. Standard chips are 39mm diameter.
I can't shuffle chips, but I was told that if you can, it's not that much harder to shuffle the octagon shape.
I got this one in 2019. Same size as above. Front and back are the same with no real ID other than the Go spade logo.
It references a Game On slogan and Chip Co company name on the edges. Sorry that it’s blurry.
Most recently, at G2E 2021, I picked up this monster. I have it sitting on top of two standard chips to show how big it is.
While it does have the Go spade logo, "Game On" is not referenced anywhere. Instead, the reverse face mentions a feature that is geared more towards product description than branding - "Ceramic Chips"
Similarly, the edge has the company name, and another product description - the diameter (63mm). Also note that it's nearly as thick as two standard chips.
On a semi-related note, I wonder what their name really is. This is the top of the https://www.chipco.com/ page:

City: Colón, Panama
Casino: Crown
Today’s chip begins a brand new category for the index of this thread: Central America. I intend for that category to cover casinos in any of the seven countries between Mexico and Colombia.
Before I created the category of “Oceania”, we had a bit of discussion about what the proper continent designations are. As just one more stupid American, I seem to have a limited understanding of world geography. I don’t consider Central America to be a continent like North America or South America, but I do need a way to refer to that region and not have to create a category for each of those countries, as I have for Canada and Mexico. I think this designation should work just fine, and Konbu has recently indicated that he expects to be visiting casinos in Nicaragua and Costa Rica later this month.
The second port stop on our recent cruise on the Celebrity Infinity was in Colón, Panama. (I am far too inconsistent to always include that accent mark in the city’s name, and I’m not even certain that it will show up properly for everyone as part of a web post.) During our visit, my wife and I took a shore excursion that included a small-boat tour of a portion of Gatún Lake (another accent mark that I don’t usually include or even know whether it is really correct in English), which serves as a very major portion of the Panama Canal. We also paid a visit to the Gatun Locks (See!) of the canal for an up-close-and-personal viewing of their operation. It is sometimes a bit difficult to see just what is going on with the perspective from aboard a ship passing through, as ours did the following day.
As examples for comparison, below are two views of a cruise ship descending one stage on its way from Gatun Lake to the Atlantic.
As we returned to the ship from our little excursion, I noticed that there were two casinos in a little strip mall right there beside the ship! I had previously posted in this thread that I had limited hopes of being able to get to any shore-side casinos during this cruise, at least while the games were operating, and in my pre-cruise research, I hadn’t even discovered either of these easily-accessible casinos. I blame that in part on my erroneous guess as to just where our ship would be docking in the port of Colón.
As my wife set out to buy souvenirs around the little mall, I set out in hopes of finding my own kind of souvenirs. The first of the establishments that I checked, the Fantastic Casino, turned out to be a slots-only place. Bummer. The second establishment, the Crown Casino, apparently is a part of a Radisson hotel, although I did not realize that at the time. It seems that the little strip mall runs across the back side of the hotel complex, facing the cruise ship dock.
That casino did indeed have table games, and a single blackjack table was operating at about 2:30 in the afternoon, with a $5 minimum. The table was crowded with a totally-Spanish conversation going on. I bought in for an unusual $6, lost my single $5 wager, and left with a souvenir – mission accomplished, in some ways of thinking. I did not hang around to check out the casino further – I had to hurry back to my wife to assure that her souvenirs didn’t require a second mortgage.
I understand that Crown operates a number of casinos in Panama. The MoGH chip guide includes this very chip for a casino in Panama City (on the opposite end of the canal from Colón) and does not mention the existence of the casino that I visited.
This souvenir is an injection molded plastic chip from Bud Jones, part of Gaming Partners International. This time we even have the BJ logo clearly displayed. The mold design is described as “4PIPO”, referring to the four suit pips. I still am not certain exactly what PIPO stands for, though Ayecarumba once informed us he recalls that the “O” stands for “open.” The split diamond pip is the type referred to as ROT, for “right on top”, or sometimes Right-Over-Left as opposed to the sometimes-seen, mirror-image pip called LOT, etc.
The base plastic is white with orange inserts. The denomination and “Republica de Panama” are in black on the center inlay, with the casino name and logo and the BJ logo in gold. There is no mention of the city, as this chip seems to be in use around the country. Nothing on this chip really fluoresces substantially under UV light, but there is a significant difference between the ways that the white and orange plastics appear under this illumination, so I thought I should include that image.

I just realized that Doc posted this chip from Colon. It is the same chip as all the Crown Casinos in Panama City so I will have one less chip to post when I get home
As well I just looked up Bahamas in the index and found that both of the chips from Nassau have been posted. I am taking a 4 day trip to Atlantis on January 13 and will obviously be collecting the chip from there and Baha Mar. .
