Couple things Doc.
- you didn't really view the thread a couple hundred thou just to run up the count, did ya ;-?
- you really did push the ' push to open ' button you photo'd didn't ya? What happened?

Probably not "a couple hundred thou", but with the number of posts I've made, all of the other posts I've viewed as quickly as I could find them, and the numerous edits to the index, yeah I've made quite a few views of this thread myself.

No, I didn't push that button. (For anyone who has no idea what that is all about, TwoFeathers is commenting on a post I made in another thread here.

Here's my guess about that button: There are two sections of that exterior wall that are a lighter shade than the others. I suspect these used to be doors (one of them perhaps activated by that button) but they have been boarded and stuccoed over. I just don't understand why someone would go to all of the work to cover over a couple of doors and not bother to remove the handicap button and cover that hole, too.

You should have been a rebel, I 100% would have pushed the button!

I am being extremely lazy and haven't even come close to getting the new chip of the days ready to go.

I forgot to mention Doc, when Konbu and I were on our way back to Vegas from Laughlin we noticed that the Searchlight Nugget had gone through a remodel. We went inside and it is now called Terrible's Road House. The area that the table games used to be in is empty. It looks like there is a pretty good chance that they will put a couple tables back in eventually as they have the licence for it and there are no tables in town currently. I guess you can add that to your list.

Yep, I just had a "Doh!" moment and then went to Google Street View. At least until they update the views, you can see the doors -- and that same button -- in the image here, before the modifications to the wall.

Or should I be posting this in that other thread?

According to this article from last June regarding the sale and plans for the place:
Quote:

The license was conditioned to allow just 100 slot machines and no table games.

If you hear of any changes, let me know, and I will add it to my list. Right now, I'm waiting for Jett to get their Terrible's Road House in Jean, NV converted and operating with new chips.

Most of them. I have posted a list of my entire collection before, so I guess I can again. I'll put it behind a spoiler button, because it's another wall of text.

If you do that, please send me a copy of the results. They might be useful.

Well Doc to find out what casinos you haven't been to you could cross reference your list against the thread I started a while back. I haven't updated that list but it is 99% of the current chips available for collecting in North America.

Well dang, PG. I think I missed your entire thread! I was on a cruise when you started it and got home very late on the night of the last post. I was probably dead tired and way behind on the forum and never fully caught up.

I'll have to make a note of that one.

State: California
City: Gardena
Casino: Normandie

Today's chip of the day comes from the Normandie card club in Gardena, CA. Gardena is an LA suburb, and is also home to the Hustler card club. Normandie has 68 tables, including several poker variations, PGP, PG tiles, baccarat, blackjack, and 3CP.

Here's a picture of the property:

I played BJ at Normandie. I didn't write down all the rules, and their website also doesn't list them. I did note, and the website does confirm, that BJ pays 3:2. That's very rare in California card clubs, so I assume that some other rule(s) must be quite restrictive to offset that payout. As variance would have it, I lost my $60 buyin without experiencing a payout on a BJ, though I did manage to make it take about 45 minutes before I'd lost that money.

The MOGH lists this chip as a house mold. It looks a lot like Bud Jones chips that we've seen from other casinos, like the Hacienda in Boulder City. I assume that the MOGH's classification of this chip is incorrect.

Word is the Normandie, after some penalties and negotiated pleas to helping high rollers avoid taxes by not filing required paperwork, splitting winning payouts into smaller amounts or putting other's names on them, has been sold to the Hustler, leaving the Flynts as the sole owners of all the legal gambling establishments in Gardena, California. Of interest to this thread is the word that the joint will be renamed the "Lucky Lady" and chips with the new name will be issued in late June.

Ok! So Doc I took that joke you made in the PM you sent to me (I figure you won't mind me disclosing it in public) about taking an unpaid job editing this thread as a challenge. 6 hours later I have found all the mistakes/oversights and they are as follows.

1) Doc when you posted your chip from the Yavapai Casino in Arizona you never actually made a chip of the day post. You lumped it into the rest of your Arizona chips you had collected. I am sure adding headings would be easy enough.
2) You have a * to note chips that RDW has posted and ** to note chips posted by everyone else. Wild Rose Casino Jefferson is noted * when it should be ** as he didn't post that chip.
3) On page 52 Alusio posted a chip of the day for Enjoy Casino in Vina Del Mar, Chile. He used headings but the chip didn't end up in the index or the total chip count.
4) On page 222 RDW posted his chip from the Grand Palais Casino in Louisiana. The chip was not indexed or posted fully as a chip of the day.
5) On page 389 Outlaws Casino in California was posted by RDW for the chip of the day but was not indexed.
6) On page 423 RDW posted the chip of the day for Tropicana Evansville but forgot to include the usual headings.
7) On page 448 Wezvidz posted a chip from SunCruz Port Richey for the chip of the day but it was not indexed.
8) On page 477 ChipmanSpiff posted his chip from the Mountain View Casino in Nevada but it was not indexed.

If my count is correct that is 5 chips not indexed so the total for the thread should be 924.

In my WoV profile, I list my occupation as "delightfully unemployed," but I don't think I would have ever "found" the time to do that survey. Thanks a bunch, and I will begin making the edits today. Hope you didn't leave some critical responsibility unperformed during those 6 hours!

I'm sick at the moment and it actually was nice that it took my mind off how awful I currently feel. Notice the time of the day that I posted the review. I usually find time crawls when I'm sick, this kept me busy. Not sure how I'm going to pass the day today.

yes indeed, moderation is for suckers.

Also, doesn't it sound like fun to drive from Cincinnati to Chicago to Green Bay, then through the UP to Traverse city, then over to Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland? What a wonderful way to spend a week!

I totally agree, I mean in reverse seems just as much fun. Maybe add in some Minnesota and that sounds like a solid week. Also if you are going to add in MN you might as well also go to Deadwood, SD. It would just be silly not to at that point. :P

OK, I have been making the necessary corrections as suggested by PokerGrinder. In a couple of cases, though, I'm not sure whether the current forum rules will get in the way of a full fix.

Some time back, a rule was implemented that keeps us from editing posts after just a short while after they are initially posted. I grumbled a bit about how that would prevent me from editing the index to this thread. The powers that be saw some viability in my complaint, and I still have the ability to edit my very old posts in this thread only. What I don't know is whether that is something only I can do, or whether everyone can edit their own old posts in this thread.

The reason that this is relevant here is that I would like for rdw4potus to edit his post identified by PG in item #4, to revise the format to the standard CCotD and to add the headers in the post identified in PG's item #6. Can you do that RDW? If not, perhaps we can get some assistance from one of the moderators.

In the interim, I have made the following corrections (using PG's numbering system):

#1. The Yavapi casino had already been included in the index and count with a link to the post two below the one where the chip appeared. That was a hack solution at the time, and I have edited both of those posts today.

#2. Fixed.

#3. Fixed. Added to the index and the chip count. Changed the start date for the "South America" chip category. Changed the sequence of category start dates in post #1, comment #5.

#4. I will wait to see what rdw4potus can do about getting his Grand Palais chip post into the "standard" format, then I will add it to the index and chip count.

#5. Fixed. Added to the index and chip count.

#6. Let's see whether rdw4potus can make those edits. The chip is already in the index and chip count.

#7. Added to the index and chip count.

#8. Added to the index and chip count.

For now, the total count is at 923 until we get #4 taken care of.

I totally agree, I mean in reverse seems just as much fun. Maybe add in some Minnesota and that sounds like a solid week. Also if you are going to add in MN you might as well also go to Deadwood, SD. It would just be silly not to at that point. :P

Darn right! and then return through ND and stop at all the casinos and bars there on the way back. Oh, and that route probably includes a drive through part of Iowa, so that's in, too!

Doc I am still able to edit my old posts so I think that RDW should be able to as well.

RDW I totally agree why don't we plan a month long trip for Doc and Mrs. Doc? Could add over 100 chips very easily.

yes indeed, moderation is for suckers.

Also, doesn't it sound like fun to drive from Cincinnati to Chicago to Green Bay, then through the UP to Traverse city, then over to Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland? What a wonderful way to spend a week!

10/26/2015, the date that shows as Exoter175 nuking.
Just about that time the set-up changed for editing your own posts.
IIRC, you can still edit posts from before that time, you can edit them now if you like, I edited one yesterday to remove a contact name in the gaming industry that could help sweeten your comps perhaps.
After the date of the change, today for instance, you get a few minutes after a post to edit it, and it still looks like it was the original post. After a few minutes, if you edit, it shows that you have edited and the edit date. Not long after that you can't edit your post at all, it has become the property of the gracious owners of these 'forums' in the format, context, and content that it 'appeared' at that cut-off time/date.

Long answer to say that 'RDW should be able to correct/edit his post(s) prior to that change around 10/26/15 at his pleasure. Should he write something particularly embarrassing today, well, the clock starts ticking and he prolly can't fix it tomorrow ;-)

I hope that helps, some.

I love to vent about the change back then, which I still don't like, but can live with. My reasons are more selfish than the genuine concerns that Doc had then, and Doc continues to deal with today. Cheers! 2F

I'm sick at the moment and it actually was nice that it took my mind off how awful I currently feel. Notice the time of the day that I posted the review. I usually find time crawls when I'm sick, this kept me busy. Not sure how I'm going to pass the day today.

We'll be lucky if she's cooled down enough that it's just a talking to:-) She's gonna smack me with whatever non-Nook item is in her hand at the time, I think.

But, in all seriousness, it really is a pretty drive around the lake. It really would be a fun trip. And there happen to be some casinos there to break up the drive. Just no need to also go to the dakotas or minnesota or iowa on that journey. Not even any need to go to western WI or eastern MI on that trip. Just drive, Chicago, drive, door county, drive, Houghton, drive, Traverse City, drive, Battle Creek, drive....

Ok I guess I'm going to stay North of the Missouri for a while then, not sure what you are going to do though. You live within smacking distance. :-)

That actually would be a really good, possibly Mrs. Doc approved trip.

I have posted an updated list of all casinos in North America where you currently can collect a chip from.

Also I plan on getting a new chip of the day post of sometime later (much later as I haven't slept yet) today.

P.S I am kind of proud that I was able to get the not only the spoiler button and the link to work but the link to work inside of the spoiler button. I have never tried that before and it worked on the first try. The formatting code page is a lot of help for sure!

State: New York
City: Chittenango
Casino: Yellow Brick Road Casino

Last month we flew to NY to buy a car. Since we had to drive home to Western PA we decided to make the drive up state to go to a few casinos that we probably would never go to again. Not sure why else I would ever be in upstate NY again.

When we pulled up to the casino I thought it was funny that it is actually in an old strip mall. On the right hand side there is still a grocery store and the casino took over the shops to the left. I assume there used to be shops anyways, maybe it was always the casino and grocery store.

When you walk into the casino they had a small atrium like area with a tornado like thing. Every once in a while, maybe each hour, the tornado thing would light up and there would be wind noises and music. As soon as we walked near it, it went off. I guess good timing.

After we watched it we went to the players club to get cards. They have a new member sign up bonus where you go to the kiosk and spin the wheel. I received $7 and my wife received $13. We played for about 2 hours. It is a very small casino with my guess 600 machines. I could be way off but that's my guess. They also have craps, black jack and some other carnival games. BJ was $10 mins and craps was $5. I played a little craps and then we played some slots. I noticed that most of their slots are either .25 or .02 machines.

Sorry the pic is bad, I am behind on scanning my new chips so I just took a picture with my phone.

This place has been on my list of chips to get, ever since PokerGrinder first mentioned it six or seven weeks ago. At that time, I complained because he had not told me about it before I drove to Turning Stone (just 18 miles away) to collect that chip last September. He quickly scrambled to claim that they had not opened their tables until December, but the MoGH page claims they opened in June of last year. (Yes, that page does have a little note acknowledging the 6-month delay on the table games.) Maybe I'll make it back up that way again this summer.

I either forgot (or never caught in the first place) the discussion here that the place has that (partial) Wizard of Oz theme, such as that tornado feature, the room names, and the Oz-like graphics on the chips . Pretty clever.

BTW, you listed the casino as "Yellow Brick" instead of "Yellow Brick Road". I'll add "Road" in the index, and you can edit that if you get back here soon enough.

Edit 8/11/16: I finally got my identical chip from the Yellow Brick Road Casino and posted it here, along with an image of the chip under UV illumination.

Nice chip post GWAE. How big is your collection now? That would be far to drive for $30 FP.

I want to apologize that I still haven't posted my new chip of the days I promised. I have been sick for a week now and really had no interest in doing anything productive. I still need to photograph them and upload them.

Doc do you want to ask Babs to make those edits for RDW as I assume he is busy. She had mentioned that she could.

Thank you. I honestly have no idea how many I have now. A few years back I was really active in the chipboard and purchased software for chop collections. I had started to catalog everything. During the same time in went on a chop buying bender and bought a few hundred. I have since decided that I don't want purchased ones as part of my collection unless the casino is now closed.

So to answer your question in probably only have around 200 that I have collected but have nearly 500 in my house.

Just in case rdw4potus missed the suggestions that he edit two of his posts, I sent him a P.M. two days ago pointing him to the posts for which revisions were suggested. He read the P.M. on Friday. At the end of that P.M., I included the following paragraph:
Quote: Doc (in P.M. to rdw4potus)

Of course, if you don't make these edits, we will hassle you endlessly in the forum, presumably leading to your total humiliation. ;-)

I have received no reply from him, and the two posts have not yet been revised. I'm not sure how much time I should allow before the hassling begins. Whaddayathink?

What is this thread becoming? You are the second one in a week to share PM's without permission. (I was the other person lol)

Time? I am pretty sure the rules of hassling state that after the message has been read and put aside for later that the hassling can commence. Keep in mind this is the man who has tried and succeeded a few times of trying to get you to effectively end your marriage by dragging your wife around the country. (I will admit to also trying to get you on crazy collecting trips) Yes I think I am in a silly mood today, mostly from a funny fight that has broken out in another thread. Anyways back to the point, I think it might be easier to just ask Babs to make the edits if she doesn't mind doing it.

Easier? Where's the fun in that when there's the chance to hassle rdw? Later, maybe.

BTW, I don't think there is a rule against publicly posting what you yourself said in a P.M.

Haha ok hassle away, I support all hassling from now on.

I think you are right but I actually mentioned your response to me via pm last week about the unpaid editing job. I didn't think you'd mind :)

Next thing you know I'll be getting PMs reminding me to fix my sideways chip pics. I still don't know how that happened as they were fine on my computer. Probably no new chips from me until June as I am moving in 18 days. There are 2 or three that are 1 bus away from where I'm moving to.

I am excited to report I will be visiting PR next week and hope to add 8-10 chips to the thread later this month. It's a little work trying to figure out exactly how many casinos there are and which ones are still open, since the info I'm finding online is not very up to date.

I know some of the ones on this list (http://caribya.com/puerto.rico/casinos/) is closed but it was a good place to start.

Actually after aggregating all the info I found online, there appears to be 15 casinos still open on the whole island. The Marriott has already been posted, so that leaves 14 chips to post if I get them all.
