I had gone a little over a month without gambling.

Then... it happened.

I was off work Monday. I had been talking to this girl for about a week.. and I wouldn't be able to pick her up until 11pm
I really wasn't in the mood to go to a bar. So... it's relatively cold outside, 11pm on a Monday. Where can I take this girl?

She knows that I work at casino, and she told me that she had never been. I figure we can go and play nickel and quarter slots... and with drinks.. I'll go through 100$ have fun time.

We arrive at casino.. .and it was fun. I take her on tour, show all the different slots. I showed her an 8/5 VP machine then showed how there was a 9/6 20 yards away. I don't think she understood what I was trying to say. We sit at the casino bar. Order drinks and play the video poker on the table top. I put in 20$.. playing 1 credit 25cent machine.. I lost literally 15 hands in a row. She says, "I don't like this game".. so then we switched the game to Keno... later switched to 1$ blackjack. went back to keno and lost it all. Not counting the drinks.. Down 20

Played bunch of random slots with 20$ (the ones were it like play 30 lines, 1 credit per line) Lost
Down 40$ overall

Buy in for 60$ Roulette. First three spins, just bet five numbers inside 1$ each. bricked all. Then played some outside for a little bit.
Then after few.. Decided load up 40$ red and played like three random numbers.. then went a little heavy on 16 or 17 (which ever one is red)... Spin lands ONE to the right of the number on want on the wheel. AWEE!!! so close. Keep in mind it is 1am on now a Tuesday (went from Monday into Tuesday).. I would have won hundreds of dollars if it landed one peg over... plus I lost the in relation to buy in big bet on red itself. So I let out an F bomb... I did not swear AT the dealer. It was just me and my date at the table. I never once complained or was disrespectful to the dealer. In fact, I was making nice small talk with her... The supervisor comes over and complains to me about swearing. I felt it was very unwarranted by him. I wanted to snap off on him.. but decided not to. Was I wrong??? Who knows.

Down 100$ overall

Buy in 20$ on slot. Played a 25 cent Five Line Wheel Of Fortune. Got down to like 2 or 3.. hit the SPIN and we cashed the ticket out at 21$ Played different slots.. lost it all back.

Down 120$ overall.

Normally I'd quit.. but we were having fun.. so why not..
Another 20$ slot.. brick.

Down 140$ overall.

They only have one baccarat table in this casino and it is in the high limit area.
Bet 35$ banker, 5$ dragon... comes 0-0... Come on MONKEY-NINE!!!!!..... 5-Monkey.. I lose
Down 180$ overall.

The highest denomination slot at this casino was 10$
It was a 2 credit Wheel of Fortune.
Now they have 5$ slots where you can play like 9 lines at X credits per lines.. so they are well over hundred dollars per spin.. but the 10$ was highest denomination in this place.. I figure.. why not.
Jackpot 200,000$
Put in 20$ two credits.. lose (Down 200$)
Another 20.. two credits lose (Down220)
Date wants to try it.. I give her the 20$... (I am in for 240$)
5X Pay Symbol - Cherry - Blank
250$ winner
lol

From there.. went to craps.. ... lost 100$
Went to a 1$ three credit Wheel of Fortune.. got a SPIN on third shot.. cashed out a 133$ ticket.

Played that 10$ slot few times. Played a 5$ machine like 40$ worth...
I ended up ending the day at blackjack 5$ min.. won 80$... While playing.. my date got a blackjack.. and they paid her short and I was like WOAH WOAH!!.. guy says, "This is a 6:5 table" I was thinking.. "You (The casino) M-F'ers"

I had spent 40$ on drinks.. I let my date keep her blackjack winnings. (I told her to be betting just 5$ per hand) and I fronted all the money..
I ended up where.. I broke exactly even... that 250$ winner was huge

This reminds me of guys I knew who found out it was easier to get laid when they smoked dope with a chick ... and that the sex was more intense.

This was 'way back when'.

Once something like that gets started, how easy is it going to be to quit?
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Uhhh ... That's still true today ...

It's a lot easier to get laid in your home with some appropriate music on and some good KGB in the pipe than it is at a slot machine.

I'm just sayin' ...

Can I ask if you are happy you started gambling again or upset. Not sure why you quit originally.

Minnesota posted that he stopped about a month ago because he was losing all of the time. It was unclear whether he considered himself an gambling addict.

For me, I think he just wanted to see if he could stop.

I am going to say MinnesotaJoe has NOT started gambling again. I would describe your casino activity as a date, not gambling. It sounds like your wagering was done not with the intention of winning money, but with the intention of winning a heart (or some other body part). Until you go to the casino without a young lady you are trying to woo, I wouldn't count yourself as having failed in your 'stop gambling' attempt.

OK, so by your thinking, an avowed alcoholic who prefers gin does not fall of the wagon if he chooses to get hammered on beer.

And a heroin addict doing the 12 step recovery thing has nothing to worry about if he switches to meth.

Got it.

Nope--- MinnesotaJoe is using 'gambling' as a ploy to obtain female companionship. The examples you use would be similar to say, if Joe said he was quitting craps but took up roulette.

Untrrue.

I've taken the girl out before... among other things... I had an appointment where I would not be able to pick her up until 11pm on a Monday. She actually recommended casino after I told her I was not really feeling a bar.

Don't get the idea that I go up to random women and say, "Hey, baby, lets go to casino" I do not do that.

Like, I never lost more than I could afford to lose... I would take care of the essentials first... Car, Rent, Food, Gas.... but then.. there would be times where I would end up dumping all my 'extra' income on gambling.

I am the type of gambler that can drive 30 minutes each way to casino. Sit down at poker. Play one hand. If I am up 80$+ I get up and drive back home.

Honestly.. there are a lot of times where I can go to a 1-2nL hold'em seat. play kind of tight. then one hand. If it is like 10-15$ preflop. Then a 25-30$ flop bet... Depending on amount of players.. shipping the turn or such... Either take the pot down there.. or like double up... but here..
Prime Example: 10$ to go three players preflop. 30$ on flop. three players.. Ship it on turn.. Fold Fold... I just won ~80$.. Go home. Hit and Run..

Sounds great.. but here's the thing... If one day I go to casino and play baccarat or craps. If I lose 100$.. thing is I know the HA is so low.. I fire a 100$ bet on bacc or a Don't Pass.. or Pass Line bet with 100$ odds.

Look Joe, if you want to quit, quit.

Don't jerk yourself and the board around over it.

Your taking her to a casino and then gambling proves your heart ain't in it: so gamble til you hit The Wall, then enter a twelve step program, file bankruptcy, and avoid all gambling boards thereafter.

Or not: your choice, boyo.

A gambler's choices:

1. Get help and quit now.

2. Go Bankrupt, get help and quit later.
