Yup, they're not on the EasyList but they're still showing up just because I haven't chosen to block them manually. They're not really obtrusive so I let them stay.

I'd go laptop. For you, Evenbob, you want
a big screen, not much power, and at
least 4GB of RAM for Windows 7. You can
easily get away with under $500. Use
namebrand (Dell, Toshiba, IBM). Head over
to Best Buy or Staples and try a few out
for look and feel.

It's all about having the right tool for the job. I have a notebook, a netbook and a desktop, plus a work notebook. Laptops don't make great media centers and desktops don't travel well. I'm also a gamer, since it is one of the lowest cost forms of entertainment out there, and the desktop is necessary (consoles just don't cut it anymore for me).

I've been in the IT field for the past 12 years...
Desktop:
Intel Core i5 CPU
300GB SAtA 3.0 Hard Drive
256Mb Graphics card (probably the lowest you can get nowadays)
4Gb of RAM (make sure its 2 sticks of 2gb)
Then whatever else doesn't matter...
Laptop:
Toshiba Satellite, nuff said...,
Same kinda specs as above...
Desktop:
Intel Core i5 CPU
