Just curious what everyone else does on New Years Eve. We usually hit a house party, as a couple different people we knew typically throw them. This year we're just hanging out at home with the kids. Got a fire going in the fireplace, playing games with the kids and drinking Asti. Munching on all kinds of unhealthy snacks.

What to you do on NYE? Do you have any traditions you keep? Are you wild & crazy, tame & boring, or in between?

Vote for all options that apply to you.

Where I live you drive an American made pickup truck, you drink Budweiser, you wear a baseball cap and you wear tee shirts about Boar Hunting. On New Years Eve you fire off all types of mortars and screamers while having this great big tub of ice and beer on the porch.

Oh sure, we got some types 'round here what order a Latte or something but they been dying off of late. They been particularly dying off around Ole Buster's place. He got lots of gators to keep well fed.

Other - usually My family and I are on the way back home from visiting my folks every winter break with the kids. I've spent it in varied places (Knoxville, TN; Meridian, MS; Hoover, AL; Bristol, TN). It's kinda a tradition at this point to watch the ball drop in the hotel from wherever we are that night.

We always stay home and watch movies on TV. Watching
Ghostbusters now. Watch the ball drop, make fun of all
the idiots in Times Square. Eat too much pizza and snacks.
Its an American tradition.

My dad's band used to have a "gig" at one of those First Night things every year. So we would go to some small or medium sized town, hang out and watch some acts, and maybe there was a small fireworks display if we hung around 'til midnight. For some reason the tradition developed of eating oatmeal around midnight -- don't ask me how that one started. The downside to this is that I spent the 1999-2000 NYE in said small-to-medium sized town. I couldn't have felt lousier.

I am sitting at home right now with back pain, unfortunately. I skipped New Years last year too and was in bed before midnight. The ironic thing is New Years is my favorite. EuropeanHottie is having people over but I'm just not feeling up to doing my hair and makeup right now. I'm on vicodin and a steroid and Midol. I was in the ER earlier crying my eyes out, mostly due to frustration. My back has been hurting almost consistently for 4 weeks now. Today was the 3rd time I've seen a doctor this month over this. But it is the 5th time I've experienced this back pain. The 3rd time I experienced it the pain was so intense that I couldn't move an inch and 4 firemen had to come over and carefully carry me out and took me to the hospital. I spent 2 days there in the hospital in a lot of pain, not even wanting to eat or have visitors.

Anway, I kinda want to go to her house cuz I don't have a television service and I like watching all the excitement on tv with all the energy and entertainment and the ball drop and all that. But it usually sucks to go out when you have no one to kiss at midnight. There were 2 years where I had a boyfriend on NYE and he worked graveyard and because of that I still didn't have anyone to kiss at midnight. In fact I don't think I've ever gotten a New Year's kiss, not one that meant anything anyway. Although, I don't know if this counts, when we were celebrating New Years 2001 Walt Disney's grandson and I kissed each other on the cheek and I made sure to point out to him that I was his first kiss of the new millenium. Pretty cool, huh?

But if I could wave a magic wand I would be out and about having fun and blowing those silly but fun horn things and getting teary-eyed. I love New Years cuz it's like a new beginning in life.

Same thing I did last year: watch Dick Clark get older.

Today I'm heading to AC for a hit & run.

You mean Times Square. Her outfits were so ridiculous that I didn't even know that was her.

Usually I stay at home and often just go to bed at my normal time. Sometimes a relative ro friend says come over for a house party, very low key. NYE seems to have died way, way down since the 1970s. Back then it seemed almost all the adults went to some kind of nightclub-we would stay at our grandparents house for the night then hear the tales the nexgt afternoon. I rarely hear that people went to a club anymore, NYE known as "ameteur night" and high DUI enforcement. Nobody cares to deal with all of that.

This year was great--taught a few people how to play craps and got paid to do it. Was driving down the interstate when midnifght struck. No radio on, just the clock in the car to tell me it hit and a "HNY" text message or two. As you can tell, I really don't care about it as a holiday.

I'm currently on a bus to AC. (the bus has wifi!)

You go and can come back on any bus in the next four days.

When I bought my ticket, I asked about the holiday schedule. She says "Holiday? That was yesterday. Today is just another Sunday."

Yeah to be honest Dick Clark LOOKS good for his age (did you notice the spray tan he was sporting?) but in all honesty it's hard to watch him any more, even scary. I don't want to sound like a mean person cuz I feel for the guy but they need to take him off the air. I understand it's a traditional thing but I literally get the creeps watching him speak. Sorry, Dick.
