Thread Rating:
the first one as the best, because we got to see
Sigourney in her underwear. #4 was pretty good
too, I like it when Sigourney acts real butch..
Quote: PapaChubbyIMO #2 was the best by far. I'm pretty sure that she was both butch and in her underwear in that one.
Was she? I don't remember, I've only seen that one twice.
Hot in the 80's and still hot today.
Here are my ratings, on a 0 to 10 scale:
Alien: 9+
Alien 2: 8
Alien 3: 4
Alien 4: 2
I read somewhere, probably imdb.com, that when Sigorney Weaver was playing basketball in Alien 4, and made the basket throwing over her shoulder, she made the shot on the first try.
his own great show for 3 years (Millenium), yet by far he gets
recognized most for playing Bishop in Aliens. He's that great voice
you hear in the Droid commercials on TV.

OMG. THAT'S why you liked the first Alien? Because she's in her underwear? Jesus.
Don't forget AVP in 2004 where the predators are hunting the aliens on Earth. I liked it, and Lance Henrickson was in it as the Bishop descendant. Sure was better than Predators last year.

Well, thats what I like about it now, in my older years..
Quote: zippyboyI believe there's a whole nother genre of flicks that focus on girls in underwear. Google it. Doubt if Alien is mentioned.
My favorite scene in that category is the pillow fight in Animal House.

Its all about Sigourney. In her underwear. In the 80's.
BIG drop off to 3 and 4. And to Beyond the Thunderdome, while we're at it.
Sigourney Weaver was age 30 in the first Alien movie. By far the most nudity she revealed was when she played a prostitute 7 years later in Half Moon Street. While that is certainly not old, it is much harder to be naked on a thirty foot screen in your late 30's then in your early 20's. Also she was already able to command a million dollar salary for a picture, so she didn't need to be noticed. I think she is a truly dedicated actress, and she brings a lot to her movies.
I thought she was the best actor in the movie Avatar, even though her role was small.
Quote: pacomartinThe first two movies were, in their own way, huge groundbreaking films that set standards for decades. I don't see how it is possible to choose a film after #2.
Basically these are monster movies in a science fiction setting. With the twist that the monster is portrayed as being smarter than the average wild animal. Larry Niven tried something along those lines with the Grendel in a novel I can't recall the title off. he failed, too, largely because the characters just couldn't see the obvious.
The first movie handles suspense rather well, as is possible when not following Hitchcock's formula for suspense. The second movie is a good action/combat film, but no more than that. The third is a reset-button for no reason. the 4th pretty much made no sense.
Actually the most memorable part of the whole saga is the name of the ship in the first movie.
Half Moon Street ... London's Arabian Row ... rich Arabs, women who want to be rich... never quite understood that movie. Too busy waiting for a nude scene I guess.
If you are gonna make a sequel, Alien 2 is the way to do it. There is nothing a female Latino character with a big machine gun can't make better (see Michelle Rodriguez).

I liked her in her very first movie.

Thank you.
Are the sequels worth reading, or is it just more not-quite A movie material?
