In addition to the $600,000 winners purse there is a $5,500,000 bonus if Dialed In wins the Preakness. $500,000 of which goes
to the trainer. Dialed In is eligible for the lucrative bonus because of previous victories in the Holy Bull Stakes and Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park, which, like Pimlico, is owned by MI Developments.
The Holy Bull is 1 Mile and Dialed In was 14 lengths behind Mucho Macho man after a quarter mile but won under a hand ride.
The Florida Derby is 1M&1/8 and Dialed In was 15 length behind Shakleford after a 1/2 mile and won under a hand ride again.
Gulfstream Park has a front runner's bias but Dialed In won.
The Kentuck Derby is 1M&1/4 and Dialed In was 19 lengths back after 3/4 of a mile. But Shakleford was setting a slow pace.
1:13 and 2/5 slowest pace in 64 years. Dialed In ran the last 1/2 mile in under 47 seconds.
Dialed In drew the 10 hole. Bet you money Saturday on Dialed In !!

I thought he went to the whip on Dialed In in the Florida Derby. Hard to tell. Regardless, I think Dialed In is a good pick. He has less horses to catch in the Preakness than the Derby, and maybe Zito was focusing on the Preakness more because of the bonus.

If the bonus goes to the horse, so be it. I just care what money is going to go to the bettors. Payout odds? Minimum bet? If its such a sure thing, the odds are likely to be lousy ain't they?Quote: buzzpaffIn addition to the $600,000 winners purse there is a $5,500,000 bonus if Dialed In wins the Preakness!
