If I'm at a $10.00 craps table and for example, I have a $12.00 place bet on the 6 and the 8 and a $10 come bet with $10 odds bet on the 5, can I increase my place bets by $6.00 and odds bet by $5.00 or would they have to be increased by $12.00 and $10.00 respectively??? If so, is that a standard or is it up to the dealers that would allow that if for example there is little action at the table???

For the 6/8 place bets, increments of $1 should be allowed over the minimum of $10. Increments of $6 over a minimum wager of $12 is rational behavior, since other increments would pay out short. No need to increase in increments of $12.

Odds bets can also be increased in increments of $1 up to the maximum, but rational behavior says to wager odds on the 5 in even dollar amounts.

The short answer is YES you can increase you 6 and 8 by $6 dollars. and your odds bets by 5. Just think of it this way.....Lets say you have a $12 place bet on the 6 and you win the dealer could pay the $14 win and give you your $12 dollar bet back(for a total of $26). The you could make a $18 place bet on the 6. This is no different then you pressing back $6 dollars of your winnings back on the 6 or 8. The same goes for odds bets

Although if you had $10 worth of odds on the 5 already you would always increase in $10 increments. as $15 of odds on the 5 would pay $22.50 and they will not pay out the 50 cents( in 99% of casinos) So it would not be worth it.

the thing on the free odds on 5 or 9 either one is to have it divisible by two, so if you had a $10 free odds bet on the 5, you wouldnt want to add a dollar, but could add two dollars I think. Most people would add another another $10 of course, to keep from being silly.

Whats that ditty about: Odds on an Odd Number should always be EVEN. This avoids "breakage" wherein you get paid a proper payout on part of your bet but a lesser payout on some it. I leave it to better mathematicians to explain this confusing stuff better.

The "ditty" is only five words: Odds are even on odd.

The mathematical reason is simple: It pays $3 for every $2.

In other words, it pays $1.50 per dollar bet. But, since most craps tables do not have 50¢ or 25¢ chips or coins, you'll lose that last 50¢ when they pay off an odd bet.
