The 3rd casino in 3.5 years just opened in my area. They put up a FaceBook page about 6 weeks ago and got over 11,000 friends. Reading the posts from potential customers was entertaining and frightening. Entertaining because 99% of them are so blatantly ignorant on how slot machines work, and frightening for the same reason. When you see how just plain stupid the general public is, its easy to see why casinos do so well. Most of them really believe that if you can find the 'right' machine, and always play it, you can get ahead and stay ahead. They think the hold on most slots is 85%-90%. They refuse to play without a players card, because you get 'something for nothing' with a card, and people who don't use a card never win. Most think there is a dial inside every machine that lets the casino make the slots loose or tight, and they adjust them every day to throw off the public. The slots closest to the entrance are the tightest, because the public thinks they're the loosest and the casino knows that. Some think the casino can adjust the slots right when you're playing, they do it from 'upstairs'. Your chances of winning are twice as good if you play two machines at once. The best slots are the ones that everybody else is playing, avoid the ones that nobody is sitting at. It went on and on, I expected someone to say when you lost it was the Devils fault. I've always had no respect for slot players, now I know why.

I really don't think this is that unique to slot players. While at a $25+ table, most of the people have at least a general understanding of the game, but even most of these people that I see are giving away at least 1% just on strategy. Then you go to the $5 tables and there are people there that are getting a worse return than if they put it into the slot machine right behind them.

The shear number of people that play the hardways on every single roll is staggering.

A fool and his money...
I have heard about a VP system where the machines are not random and you can tell when they will start paying.
I have a bewitched egg that I use to play VP with and I have net over 900k with it.

Would be interested to see a review of Gun Lake if you end up going.

Like several other games, slot machines are a case where ignorance doesn't hurt you. You can't make a better max-coin bet on a specific slot machine game than someone else, any more than you can make a better $5 pass bet or Red bet than someone else. The point is, the casino would do no better or worse even if every slot player in the casino knew as much about slot machine internals as the Wizard (assuming they still played the same).

I guess you do have respect for table games players that are basically playing a coin flip game that's weighted against them? Slot players at least have a chance at a big hit, 1000's of times their bet. I think they are trying to have fun, see if Lady Luck is on their side, not gain respect.

Or if you put twice as much money in one....
