Since this will be my first vacation trip to Vegas, I will have to sign up for some player's cards at various casinos (I already have MGM and Harrah's). For the various properties that are located downtown, which casino has the best new member offers? I also bought the 2011 American Casino Guide, which has some free play coupons at various properties too......

If you have the ACG, then you know what some of the deals will be. The Four Queens gives every new signup $10 and a coffee shop twofer. Binion's had some decent deals at one time--worth checking out. Golden Nugget will give you $5 free slot play (usually--you get a chance to spin for more). El Cortez will gove you $5 (last time I checked). Fitzgerald's was gving $5 plus a coffee shop twofer, but I'm not sure about current offers. Fremont/MSS/Cal are all under the BConnected umbrella, so whatever you get (and I don't think you get anything at this point), you could only get it once for all three properties. Vegas Club has a very good new player signup offer--lotsa goodies for your first 24 hours of play--but I'd be wary, as they have shown an inclination to change promotions on a whim.

It's good policy to sign up for everybody's player's card, just in case. Run $5 through a machine, then leave if you want to. You'd be surprised what "activating" your account will produce--the mailers you get have very little to do with your action.

Oh, and P.S.--absolutely do not bother with the Golden Gate, either to sign up for their slot club, play their crummy machines, or jump through the ridiculous number of hoops needed to play a lousy $5 matchplay coupon.

I used to agree with this thinking, but another view is that you shouldn't sign up everywhere,
because from time to time casinos run a very good new sign-up promotion, BUT it is only
good for new members.

Also, I seem to remember a good promo at Tropicana, but I don't know if it is still in
effect. Check their website...

You have to balance the value of being on someone's mailing list against the loss of future new signup offers. If I even get a reduced room rate, though, it'll likely exceed the value of any new signup bonuses I may have deferred. Especially since the signup bonuses rarely exceed $10 in value.

The Trop promo is history. I did take advantage of it, though--it was a helluva deal. I was able to use it because I had never had any reason before to set foot in the Garbagecana.

I'm a bit lazy when it comes to coupons and deals but I remember Planet Hollywood having a nice new member package. If they still have it, and if I remember correctly, you get a free spin on a $5 machine (a circus machine that probably pays out about 10-15%) but you also get a nice size coupon book. In it are all kinds of deals including buffet deals, show discounts, slot free play, and my favorite, a $25 match play coupon. The match play I think is supposed to be good only once but I've gotten a hold of at least 3 and used them.

Terrible's gives you a big coupon book and a T-shirt. But I don't guess it's good enough unless you collect player cards. Plus no reason to go nearby, unless you're going to the Atomic Testing Museum.

The Planet Hollywood deal is gone. They are now a part of Harrah's/Caesars.

I had a good experience at the Golden Gate.
------------------------------------------
Of all places, The Plaza/Vegas Club had a pretty good sign up deal for earning some amount of points. It was positive for the player. The Wizard wrote about it. Not sure if it's still on.
-----------------------------------------
I would sign up for the Palms. If you play, you can get a bunch of goodies if you earn a certain amount of points on your first day. But they all pretty much have some benefit or another.
