What's the worst thing you'd do to win a bet for 10 million dollars?

For example someone asks you to go outside take all your clothes off and get arrested for indecent exposure. Guaranteed 10 million. But that's just an example of something. Or eat a bowl of dog poop. etc., I don't think either of these are worth more than 5 or 10k.

That's not a bet; that is a dare. My younger, dumber self would have risked much more than I would today. I wouldn't do anything particularly life-threatening or put others at risk. At least, I like to think I wouldn't.

I guess, but it has money involved, whereas dares don't need any monetary incentive.

And well, it doesn't have to be dangerous, but it must be difficult enough to warrant the money. For instance wasn't it brought up here about if someone could stay in a lightless room for a month, with nothing but food and water.

Not quite.
Both ways, I get paid for success.
With a wager, I have to pay for failure, and be able to cover the stakes.

I'll try to keep this away from dares

in betting generally, a player tries to get the edge of course. And it is perfectly acceptable to try to urge someone to bet when you definitely have the edge, including when you conceal this fact from that person. For example, when you have the nuts on the flop in holdem. On the other hand, cheating, say rigging a deck, to get the edge is not acceptable.

I would definitely take advantage of some gray area stuff like Phil Ivy did to try to win a Million, essentially what he was doing with edge sorting ... which I do not regard as cheating. On the other hand, I don't mingle with the kind of slick operators that would suck me in to that kind of thing. I like to think I could be a Don Johnson, talking myself into really great loss rebates that casinos should never agree to. I have to think kind of thing was much harder to do than might be imagined, including being a great actor setting it up acting like a degenerate. And harder today.

I like stories about cheating casinos, watching movies like "The Sting", and sometimes work out ways a player could cheat, without putting myself in the first person role. I like to think, basically, that I wouldn't cheat, not even for a million. One is always tempted if you could be convinced you couldnt get caught.

As I recall, buying a Powerball ticket with a paltry $100 million jackpot “isn’t worth your time” because $100 million wouldn’t “meet your needs”. But you’d give a toe for 1/10th of that.

I don’t think I have ever said $100 million wouldn’t meet my needs? I might not play the lottery because I hate throwing money away. But not because I am averse to winning a big jackpot.

I’ve been involved with more toe amputations than I can count. The surgeons would mention a single toe amputation has very little impact on quality of life.

It was actually a $50 million jackpot that would be far too low for you. You must have lost a lot of money recently…now you’re volunteering body parts for $10 million

If you actually believe $50 million is all you would need, you don’t have 19 friends/relatives/ causes that you wouldn’t like giving $50 million each too?

I can’t help it that you can’t understand my simple statement. ‘My needs’ for me and wife alone would be met EASILY with a 50 million jackpot. I was just pointing out with more I could be more generous with friends/relatives/charities. You obviously like arguing for the sake of arguing, don’t you?

I stand by my statement that I’d give a toe of my choice for $10 million.

Answering previous post of ‘which one’, I’d speak to podiatrist friend and ask which one is least important. I think it would tend to be pinky toe. But I’ve had a bad break on 4th toe on right foot so it doesn’t bend much and maybe he’d say that one? (TMI?)

I wonder if the pinky toe helps with balance more than the #4 toe. Personally, I'd rather lose the 4th toe than the pinky. It would solve an annoying issue I have with that toe, but I'm sure that's also TMI.
