Suppose someone is playing a slot machine, which rarely hits the top jackpot,
They hit it once. They receive their hand pay.
They immediately hit it again.
They immediately hit it a third time.
They immediately hit it a fourth time.
Next day it makes the local news. yada yada yada.
But wait.
What would really happen? Would the casino shut down the machine after the third consecutive win?
It doesn't happen, because it can't happen without the casino getting suspicious. Thus those "impossible" records never get recorded if they get noticed by the casino.
Conclustion: The only time impossible odds happen is when the casino fails to notice something, but a few players do and tell the tale.

Not at all. It's something he believed in. It takes a particular person to try and ruin a tribute.
5 min later, she hits it again on the same machine.
(Edit: 5 min after she gets paid)
was sitting next to a husband whose wife is sending him a pic about her handpay.
then another
then another.
might have gotten a 4th one.
all in like 30min on the same machine and i think the bet size was $3/spin.
casino shut down the machine after the last one

Any idea where this happened? Any casino that can make four hand pays in thirty minutes is pretty efficient and deserves recognition.
Quote: SandybestdogThe other day I was playing roulette. I played about 100 spins. I just play the even money bets. I lost 15 in a row. Not once though but twice. 2 separate streaks in 100 spins. If my math is correct it’s 15181:1 to lose 15 in a row. 2 of those in 100 spins? Don’t bother calculating it. It’s just not your day.

There are some here who would have told you to ride the streaks.

In which case, he would have had two winning streaks of 15 in 100 hands and people wouldn't take him seriously.

Only if there were no zeroes. I guess we should ignore the zeroes….

Ever try dividing MXM by CVIII? I don't know how the Romans managed without zero.
I would probably depend on how rare and how big the jackpot is.Quote: rxwineYes, why impossible odds have trouble happening in a casino.

If it's a big jackpot they should do an investigation after the 2nd hit.

Well you got me. I actually did take a picture. I was mistaken. It was 15 and then 12. So only 15181 and 2213 occurrences. You can see the end of the numbers in the one picture at the beginning of the other. So actually it was only in about 40 spins. Technically though you have to divide your chances by 3 since I was looking at all 3 of the even money bets. I was thinking of starting a thread with all these pictures I have. I have played this game a fair bit over the last couple of months. I have dozens of pictures. The amount of streaks that while by themselves can certainly occur, the amount of times it’s happened is simply nearly impossible to happen in the amount of time I’ve played it.
Unfortunately not.Quote: billryanQuote: 100xOddssaw a lady hit a $4k royal.

this was years ago.
yeah, 7.5min for a handpay is pretty good.
so more probable that it was only 3 for 10min per handpay
