I got a letter from the IRS in Austin that is dated March 12, 2021, and I received it the same day. First off, how did DeJoy's Post Office do that? Second, it talks about getting only $600 instead of the $1400 that was just signed into law and expected to arrive tomorrow. Turns out they're referencing EIP2 which came out a couple months ago. The $1400 payment is called EIP3, which was not mentioned in this letter. It also says if I haven't received EIP2 in the next 7 days then I should check a website to check on the status. If I've already received EIP2, I don't need to do nothing. I thought this letter was about the payment coming, not the one that's already been out for awhile. I'll still have the website to check if I don't get paid this weekend anyway. That website is currently offline.

Regarding the date:

I doubt you’re talking about a postmark on a cancelled stamp.

You’re probably looking at postal meter postage, and meters can be set to print dates other than the current date.

On the other hand, it sounds like a form letter. I would expect that to get a bulk rate indicia which has no date and doesn’t get cancelled.

There was no postmark. The letter itself had yesterday's date. Yes, it's a form letter. I'm surprised it's not 5 years late.

Oh. Since your first question mentioned the point office, I thought you meant the postmark.

But an error on a form letter? Sounds like some flunky messed up. Big time.

Now the question is, who knows what the letter supposed to say? Good luck with that.

It's a time traveler who sent it.

I got the same letter but I didn't notice the date. I received my previous check so I just ignored it.

"Chase, however, issued a statement that it will release the payments beginning March 17, apparently even if the money lands in accounts earlier," HuffPost reported. "Wells Fargo said the same: that it will treat all checks as arriving March 17, whether they arrive earlier or not. "Wells Fargo will process all of the direct deposits according to the effective date provided by the U.S. Treasury" March 17, the bank emphasized on its website."
