I doubt you’re talking about a postmark on a cancelled stamp.
You’re probably looking at postal meter postage, and meters can be set to print dates other than the current date.
On the other hand, it sounds like a form letter. I would expect that to get a bulk rate indicia which has no date and doesn’t get cancelled.
But an error on a form letter? Sounds like some flunky messed up. Big time.
Now the question is, who knows what the letter supposed to say? Good luck with that.
Quote: ChumpChangeI got a letter from the IRS in Austin that is dated March 12, 2021, and I received it the same day. First off, how did DeJoy's Post Office do that? Second, it talks about getting only $600 instead of the $1400 that was just signed into law and expected to arrive tomorrow. Turns out they're referencing EIP2 which came out a couple months ago. The $1400 payment is called EIP3, which was not mentioned in this letter. It also says if I haven't received EIP2 in the next 7 days then I should check a website to check on the status. If I've already received EIP2, I don't need to do nothing. I thought this letter was about the payment coming, not the one that's already been out for awhile. I'll still have the website to check if I don't get paid this weekend anyway. That website is currently offline.
I got the same letter but I didn't notice the date. I received my previous check so I just ignored it.
