I look forward to reading the details of this. Please post if you run accross them.
my OP indicated a man but the main suspect is a woman executive who was in charge of the cash processing
she went on vacation just as the cash disappeared and she has not returned to work
she had to have had help and they managed to erase the security tapes
there is no video evidence of the theft itself

We have dealt with this problem for many years. It has happened at bars but we saw it more often at locations like convenience stores where there is not a person watching the machines. Many years ago we put sound queues in the system to make noise anytime that a door on the machine is open.

I love stories where people steal
from casinos who stole the
money from players. When
my wife loses I consider it
stealing because the casino
has convinced her she can
eventually win a huge jackpot
and get all her losses back.

This employee is worse than a common thief
Your story reminded me when i had a winning streak. An old man was sitting next to me and kept saying “break the house break the house.” I was in a positive count and betting 200. I didnt want to abandon a positive deck so i could make back what i lost.
I read that s korean casinos are govt owned. Locals are not allowed to play. She stole from the govt
police now say they have recovered most of the missing funds
they found 8 billion won - $7 million U.S. - in a safe in the casino's VIP room
and another $3.6 million (U.S. value) was hidden in the woman suspect's house
they still haven't caught her or anybody else
and if this is correct she or they still have funds worth about $2.7 million U.S.
she is 55 years old

religion is considered a controversial subject here and posting about it is an offense that can merit a suspension
so I will tiptoe around it and hopefully that will be okay
because of the religious differences between the 2 countries - and how that greatly affects their world view -
the suspect is Malay, and if she is in Malaysia - it is IMO very doubtful the Malay authorities would agree to extradite her to South Korea

But i would think that they have extradition between close proximity countries.
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2013/01/17/malaysia-and-south-korea-sign-extradition-pact
I did not know about that extradition pact
however, there is a great deal of difference between Malaysia extraditing a Malay national to South Korea
and Malaysia extraditing a criminal from, for example Thailand, to South Korea
I still tend to doubt they would do it - especially if the religion of the suspect is the same as that of the rulers of Malaysia
and I think it's very possible the Malay authorities would feign ignorance - would say they don't know where she is when actually they do know
especially if the price is right

Quote:A Gwinnett County teenager was arrested after authorities said he managed to steal nearly $1 million from the grocery store where he worked.
Tre Brown, 19, was taken into custody Jan. 14 after scamming the Kroger on Steve Reynolds Boulevard out of more than $980,000 over a two-week period, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn said.
According to police, Brown created more than 40 returns for non-existent items in December and January. Those returns, which ranged in price from $75 to more than $87,000, were then placed on several credit cards, investigators said.
