One of the things one gives up when you move to small towns is the availability of certain things.
My favorite pasta is called Oche de Lupo, or Eye of the Wolf. It's a cross between a ziti noodle and rigatoni. Easy to find in NY, much tougher in Vegas and impossible in Bisbee.
So as I'm walking down the almost empty pasta aisle, I see a bunch of boxes among otherwise empty shelves. Dozens of boxes of Oche de Lupo. Pasta has been selling out and I guess this hasn't been selling so well so the warehouse had this left with everything else sold.

We have 4 supermarket chain stores
here, and every week they all have
flyers on what's on sale. Huge part
of their business. Starting next week
the largest chain has announced
no more sale items. People are
hoarding them and making product
unavailable to the rest of the public.

A good thought to bear in mind during these trying times.

Yup, EvenBob, I see that here too. Circulars are basically touting whats available, very few things on sale. I did snag 3 boxes of Gortons Filets at buy2 GOF. Even those are gone now. There are reports in the North East that the seafood industry in trouble. But them lobstahs can grow one more year to a good 2-pounder+ instead of these tiny ones.

I was surprised Safeway was having so many sales this week. Picked up some nice steaks, and some Marie Callender dinners.
Still no TP or much paper. I'm down to my last roll of paper towels, but have plenty of TP.

Don't know if I'd rely on Google too much based on these answers. Are you in the woods, by any chance?

Quote:

What can you use for toilet paper in the woods?
The options:
Smooth oval rocks (from river beds if possible)
Snowball.
Rounded sticks.
Leaves (as said elsewhere, be careful of which kinds)
soft pine cones (relatively rare, but plentiful where they exist!)
handful of grass
the back of a chipmunk is also soft

Quasimodo? Does that name ring a bell?

This is what I'm wearing to the store
tomorrow. The gloves keep my hands
off my face. 10 bucks for 1000 pair
at Walmart or Amazon. My brother
modeled the mask for the pic.

LOL! I drove to pick up takeout today. Duff's chicken wings! Probably 2 miles round trip. Longest drive in last 3 weeks. At this rate I may need to fill up again in September. Tomorrow maybe 5 mile drive to golf course.

I never got the appeal of that place. Most overrated wings I ever had.
