I was just wondering what everyone's favorite carnival game is. You can include those that have been discontinued. Fess up AP players, you know that you've tried them if only out of curiosity or to kill time.

Mine is Caribbean Stud Poker, although I don't put the dollar in for the Royal Flush jackpot. In decades of player real poker I've gotten two royal flushes and am not going to try for one at a dollar a shot. On one occasion I was dealt quads, but of course I didn't have my buck in.

I'm a rec gamer so I love all the carnival games. Love, love, love 'em. Just got back from the Boulder Strip and my greatest pleasure on the trip--and the reason I started hanging out at the Wizard sites--is that I not only recognized every table game I saw but also knew the correct way to play them all. So thanks Wiz! I voted for every game except WoF since I hate wheel games. [D'oh! At the end of the trip, my wife bought me a surprise present: a home roulette wheel. I smiled and said, "I love it!"] One of the few disappointments at Sam's Town was they didn't have Spanish 21 even though the room guide said they did. C'est la vie.

I, alas, didn't see Caribbean Stud Poker anywhere. I also like the game and can (at least) hold my own on it. It's certainly not for everyone but, once you can shrug off a monster hand only paying you your ante, there's fun to be had.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

I think high card flush is a much more popular game than some of the ones you listed.

I always thought Let It Ride was fun, but I don't play it anymore because the minimums are too high. It might say $5 table but it's $5 per betting circle, so it's really a $15 minimum.

Ultimate Texas Hold'em is a choice, but I was curious about what others didn't leap to mind when I started this thread.

I think that Caribbean Stud Poker was retired. I haven't seen it in a long time. It lasted for a bit but a lot of carnival games have a short life span. They go out there and if they don't pay off quickly they get yanked in favor of something else.

I like the ring toss around the bottleneck and the one where you have to make a dime land and stay in the dish, for the prize.

Fiesta (aka, "The Reserve") used to have a game where you threw a bunch of dice (maybe 6?). I wonder what happened to it?

I've had good luck with Three Card Poker. I don't go to the casino as much as I use to, well, because life. I went this past weekend for the first time in 2 years. The casino I play at requires a Pair Plus bet. And one time I hit a 3 of a kind, called it a day, went to the bathroom before I left. Then I decided I had not lost money in a while, went back to the table, and sat down and immediately drew a straight flush....then I really left. When I went this weekend, I noticed they updated the table from 4-1 to 3-1 for a Flush. I think I am probably done with that game now.

I sat with my uncle one time to play Caribbean Stud. I hated it. Every time I had a good hand, the dealer didn't qualify.
I played Let It Ride the first time I ever went to the casino....found out why they call it Let it Die.
I love Spanish 21...except for the fact every time the dealer shows 6, dealer will immediately flip over a 5.
I'm intrigued by Mississippi Stud. Haven't played it for money. I usually like to save my bankroll for Craps.
My casino doesn't have Ultimate Texas Hold'em, so I've never done any research on it.
They had Four Card Poker...but I think they killed it off.

I was told the casino pulled it as it made them no money. I played it once, didn't get the hang of it, saw I was up $20 and bailed.

Harrahs, going back twenty years , had a game that combined BJ with three card poker and a third game. I played it a lot because the regular dealer on the 2-10 shift stole a piece of my heart.

There's one other game that I didn't think deserved to be mentioned. It's easily the biggest con in the casino but I don't know it's name but you''ve all seen it. It's a chamber with pistons going to and fro above a tier of quarters on all sides. You drop money into a hoper and hope that it gets tossed in such a way that it knocks money out for you.

It's a great con because the pistons are to short to move anything far enough to fall. The obvious way to beat the game is to throw your hip into it and knock the money off the ledge but of course that doesn't work since it's weighed down by 1000 pounds and is bolted to the floor. Anyone know it's name?

They call that a coin-pusher where I come from.

You know it's a total rip-off because it's a game in many states that was allowed while gambling was still illegal. Traveling fairs and skee-ball halls and arcades had them.

An astute observer can find advantage plays on those but it's a couple bucks an hour at best. I hit one for about thirty bucks at a time when I was making about $50 a week so I have a fond memory.

I believe that there are zero games of Caribbean Stud in North American (brick and mortar) casinos although it is still offered online and in brick and mortar casinos in other countries in the world (perhaps Great Britain, South America). Can anyone confirm this?

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino in Hogansburg NY still has it. And quite popular....for some reason.

It's 2 1/2 years old but KM's WoV review of the Paris (complete with cute story of the Wizard meeting up and playing Pai Gow with her) lists CSP as one of the table games available.

My favorite is 4 card poker.

Particularly when I find a dealer who has trouble realizing their own hand contains a flush

I've also heard it called a coin dozer.

There's a whole community of people that get together and talk about how to beat those "skill" games that you find at arcades and what-not. They hang out in forums and Dave & Busters and trade strategies. I also remember seeing a guy on Youtube whose whole schtick was playing those games, offering strategies, and trying to beat them. It was pretty entertaining, but I forgot the guy's name.

Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em. House edge of 0.53%. Challenging strategy. This is probably my second favorite table game next to pai gow (tiles).

I wonder if that had anything to do with the creation of the Two-Way Bad Beat bonus. Someone at the table will always point out the dealer's flush if they have two-pair or better.

Yeah, Spanish 21 certainly straddles the fence between definitions. I would vote "yes" for carnival, however, since it has a pay-table right on the layout which is used for the main game.

I actually played Carribean Stud at the Venetian last March. I am headed out to Vegas in a couple of weeks and will check to see if they have the table.

I think Pai Gow Poker is one of the easiest games to find in the casino. It seems to be everywhere.
