A woman in my complex fell in her bathroom and evidently suffered a compound fracture of her leg. Unable to get to a phone, she managed to get to her purse and set off her car alarms panic button. Someone complained to the office and security was sent to her apartment.
I never thought about using the car alarm for that.

I figured out they were just redoing their carpet. Looked up to their balcony and saw carpet looking s***. And no noise as of late to speak of.

Blaring tv? car alarm?
Most car alarms reset after a while she may have had to have reactivated it.
Doubt she had her purse in the bathroom though... just closer than her phone to drag herself.
Hand rails are cheap but walk in tubs are a rip off.

lol I read that in the voice of the old lady that says exactly that sentence on their commercials...Quote: RogerKintAll senior citizens should have Life Alert.
Fairly clever of the lady, though with 1 fractured leg I'm not sure how one couldn't crawl to a phone. Perhaps she was very elderly? I also have lived in like 6 apartment complexes over my years. I'm pretty sure if I sat there yelling "HELP" for 30 min even someone would have done something about it (like at least called the cops or told the front office). She was unable to scream?

Good idea. I only use the alarm to find my car in enormous parking lots, which happens more often than I care to admit.

In some neighborhoods, repeatedly setting off your car alarm will only anger someone enough to come out and damage your car. And you'll still be on the floor, yelling, "I've fallen and I can't get up."
