Trump promised his wall wouldn't cost taxpayers one cent. If his supporters want to privately fund it, I say go for it.

So you think the wall is a good idea.

The most capable, qualified and rational person in the cabinet right now is probably Steve Mnuchin. Executive producer of the Lego Movie.

A WaPo opinion piece called Mattis the last adult in the room.

Most people can see what is going on. A good chunk of people aren't willing to admit it, though, and probably never will.

When one has Lil Stevie Miller and Kelly Conway at your side, who needs adults?

Rand Paul should replace Mattis.

An ocean to Gulf wall is moronic and impossible, but building a wall or a fence in some areas makes sense. The biggest problem is almost as many undocumented people in the country entered the country legally at JFK, LAX, and other airports.

The house repubs were so cowed they just added $5 billion to the budget to build a border wall

It has to return to the senate where it is a near certainty it fails to pass with 60 votes

So the budget will fail. Government will most likely shut down

They added almost fourteen billion. Trump thinks adding eight billion for disaster relief will force Democrats to vote for it.

The withdrawals from Syria and Afghanistan are totally defensible policy moves.

However, what is indefensible is doing both with absolutely zero planning and giving no advance notification to our allies.

Making such huge decisions as a means to "change the narrative" after a horrible news week for Donald is completely moronic - but sadly, not unexpected given who the president is.

There are 16 1/2 trading days remain for 2018. All 3 major indexes are at about the break-even level based on 01/01/2018 price points. I think all 3 major indexes will have positive returns for the year whether that moronic mother-fuker Trump will keep his mouth shut or not.

With 5 1/5 more trading days before the end of 2018, I'm now giving up hope that the market will end up in the positive territory for 2018. Well, on a second thought, I refuse to give up hope. Let's all pray together for better days ...

Where are SOOPOO and all those trumpers now who had quickly elevated the racist, sexist, rapist, child sexual predator, liar, con-artist Trump to a "god" level and proudly pad themself on the back not so long ago when the market had risen quickly? I even recall that SOOPOO was so confidence that he/she even questioned if Hillary could have done that great if she was at the helm.

P/S
At this rate of deterioration and with just 5 1/5 more trading days, December 2018 is on track to become the worst December decline since the Great Depression. What a great accomplishment! Thank you trumpers and the the racist, sexist, rapist, child sexual predator, liar, con-artist Trump! America, we all should thanks those idiots for a great 2018!

The government shutdown, that trump said he would proudly own but now blames everyone but himself on, will result in the border being less protected. The Border Patrol plans to shift as many as twenty percent of its uniformed patrol officers from patrolling the border to doing the office work the non-essential laid off people did. Patrol Agents are being forced to work without pay, but the back offices are being laid off. The people who do the fingerprinting, transporting and sheltering of detainees are all being laid off, forcing Patrol Agents to take over those jobs.

You KNOW the market was fine until after election day when it became clear that the American public wanted a Democrat House with a Democrat budget, right? Anyway, I am as usual embarrassed that our forum allows the same drivel 'racist, sexist, rapist, child sex predator' crap you always type. And you constantly calling me a Trumper is the highest form of personal insult on this forum, yet you slide somehow. Of course no way to tell what would have happened with HRC as Prez, We will never know.

I was going to ask if there is a single member here who will bet with me on our 2020 President? If you want Trump I'll bet against you. Small amount. Large amount. You let me know.

The market was fine until Trump’s trade war kicked in and his tax cuts for companies that bought their stocks back and didn’t invest in their workers (like they never do and never have done) had a full year to kick in and their effects measured. Trump may well be vindicated on his approach to China, but he probably won’t be. But the tax cuts are dangerous! When less and less people control more and more of the money, people actually think this is...good? Lol, cracks me up, but also pisses me off. Trillion dollar deficits are back baby!

But we’ll see. Not ready to say it’s a disaster (it’s getting pretty close, Mattis quitting sucks), but the cycle looks very familiar. Republicans bring the house down, democrats are elected and clean s**t up. Rinse repeat throughout history.

Trump said himself, I think in 2004?, that the economy does better under democrats. He was right about that and the data is VERY CLEAR. It’s not even close. Try chalking it up to luck or who controlled the house or whatever you want. But it’s getting more and more difficult to chalk it up to coincidence. Sooner or later voters in fly over states are going to have to wake the hell up and do some homework.

By the way, this is why smart presidents don’t tout the markets during upticks. You then own the downturn. Not something “stable geniuses” typically do.

And by the way, if you actually spend some time looking at the article that originally reported the drop in contributions, you can see that this was clearly expected after the end of their endowment campaign and, yes, the loss of the election.

But the truth is that the Clinton Foundation continuously receives A grades from charity watchdog organizations and is a fantastic charity. I welcome an investigation into the bulls**t.

When you see that the contributions are down, the obvious response is, "Duh."

Senate gave up and went home for Christmas. Unless House passes Senate Wall-free bill (and Trump signs it), govt will remain shut down until at least Thurs when the Senate returns.

Trump would rather screw over 300-400k employees for their EOY paychecks and likely their Christmas funds, than restore the govt. What a putz. Especially after he had agreed to the Senate bill before they went ahead to vote on it, then reneged. And after he canceled their raises. And their COLA increases, both budgeted for next year.

As to the wars, I won't pretend to be a military strategist. But I look at Mattis as the best we have. And he resigned over it.

So no, we should not be doing it. We leave our allies in the ditch, the people we were helping unprotected, and the many billions we spent wasted, if we don't finish the job and withdraw in a manner that does not allow ISIS to regroup and prevail.

Not to mention all the Americans killed and wounded. Them most of all, IMO. This is a dishonorable non-resolution that betrays their sacrifice. But I consider that more of a personal bias, since so many here care more about money than honor or integrity of the government.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Then you'd best be damned careful.

A fellow I know killed himself.

Years later, his son told me "People tell me I'm going to kill myself, but I'll prove them wrong."

A year or two later he killed himself.

Once the pattern is set by a parent killing themself it creates a potential black hole / dilemna for their surviving kids, especially if the history of depression gets passed on.

Essential are people providing critical services.

Example.
Air traffic Controllers.
Supervisors who are certified on at least 1 sector/position

Non-essential are people providing routine services.

Example.
Air Traffic Managers.
Administrative Supervisors
Air Traffic Assistants
Training department
Plans and procedures
Secretaries, payroll, hr, janitorial, support staff.

If it goes like it always has, non-essentials will get each day off AND get paid for it, as if it was a federal holiday. Might be months from now, but they will likely get compensated. Doesn't help if you were depending on that paycheck for Christmas, though.

Essentials will NOT get compensated with equivalent time or pay for working their regular schedule. Controller leave arranged more than a year ago is likely to be cancelled, because the support is no longer there. Paychecks may be delayed, since payroll isn't working, even though people will be required to work.

Taxpayers will end up paying billions for work that didn't get performed. It's been on other people in the past. This time it's 100% Trump. What a stupid move.

117 MILLION people are travelling this weekend in America. The most in more than 30 years.

What a sad disgusting post
I never ever make light of suicide or joke about it

My father committed suicide

Sadly, the way it is around here, all you're doing is telling people where your goat is tied.
