I think the truth is that female problem gamblers often make use of their "escape hatch" option when things start getting rough for them, whereas males have no such option to resort to prostitution to avoid getting into more debt.

There was an article somewhere stating that it's actually a lot more easy to become hooked on slots(Many times women are the ones playing slots whereas their husbands are playing table games) because there is no break time when it's a slot whereas there are break times in table games. It's just the player and the machine when it's a slot whereas on table games you are waiting for people to finish betting, waiting for new people to join there are times when no one is at the table game at all, etc.

ALL casinos would prefer that money spent on prostitutes go into the drop box instead, but even non-casino related hotels know that their convention business will suffer if they are too strict on discouraging prostitution.

Many casinos have encountered young females in financial trouble who unburden themselves of their woes to a bartender in hopes that they can recoup some of their losses in a manner that is slower but more safe for them than making direct approaches to males where the risk of violence or arrest is far higher.

So they avail themselves to an unknown employee of the casino that they wish to be pimped out?

Seems more likely to have security called an less money to be made as they are adding a pimps service

Plus today i suspect they would just get on their iphones and place adds on backpage

Now that backpage is so popular, perhaps but police often conduct electronic stings now luring would-be customers to hotels because its profitable for them to do so rather than simply keep the activity off the streets.

I didn't read the study but I read a blurb once that people who turn out like that rob, embezzle, etc. in order to feed their habit and that it can be even more problematic than for the people to AA.

The casinos have signs here and there that say if you're a problem gambler blah, blah, blah...but I've never seen anyone cut off.

It's not a male problem though. There are plenty of women who can't be pried off their favorite slot machines.
