This is so damn sad! This literally and figuratively poor woman! I feel so bad for her! I would have felt bad enough for her if this happened to a YOUNG woman, but the fact that this happened to an elderly person who could be a someone's elderly mother and a grandmother just breaks my heart! :(
I've gambled at Twin Rivers casino before, I liked it. It is a little hike from Providence to Quincy. That dude was committed to robbing her.
Recently some people in Europe robbed a driverless truck at sixty mph. It happens.
Many people take their winnings and are vigilant until they get into their car, then they feel safe. She may never have checked her mirrors or varied her speed to see if anyone did also and I'm sure she never drove around the block a few times to see if anyone was following her.

It breaks my butt that you think
61 is 'elderly'. What is an 80 year
old if 61 is elderly. 61 is barely a
senior citizen, which legally starts
at 60. My wife's parents are in
their 90's, we are in our 60's. Who's
'elderly' is this scenario..
The 61-year-old woman suffered broken vertebrae in the November 10 attack.
Quote: NathanI feel somehow since it was reported that he was caught on camera following her around after she won the big Jackpot, a simple, "Ma'am, this guy has been following you around ever since you won the big jackpot. He's acting shady and I suggest you be extra vigilant and drive into a police station if you have to to be safe," heads up from a helpful gambler or casino employee would have been great.
I suspect they didn't look at the films until after she was robbed.
Undoubtedly. They look at cashiers and at dealers chip trays and look for collusion and mistakes. They don't look at the normal ebb and flow of the crowds. Heck at Thunder Valley near Sacramento one man put a date rape drug in a blackjack players drink and soon maneuvered her out to the parking lot as she became increasingly tipsy. Cameras were very useful but not viewed until a few days laterQuote: billryanI suspect they didn't look at the films until after she was robbed.
Parking lot camera often take three minutes to do a complete circuit and so miss a lot of stuff.
Driving home most people don't check if they have a vehicle pacing them. I once drove from a Seminole casino: not much money but I still checked and that was after getting lost which would have annoyed a tail. If you vary your speed and so does another car then you get suspicious. Doesn't take long to do and only costs you a minute or so. Once I pulled into a church parking lot and waited a bit before pulling out; once it was an adult club's parking lot. It doesn't take long to spot a tail that way.

I was thinking about about a security guard watching the camera and realizing that this creep was following this older woman around after she got a huge payout and say something on the radio like"Boss, this shady guy has been following this oblivious older woman around as soon as she got a huge payout. He wasn't following her around before she won. I think you should go there and try to stop anything shady he is plotting." The boss could go up to them and say something like,"Ma'am, do you know this gentleman? Pointing to shady man. She says,"No," and the boss says something like,"I knew it. He has been following you around the casino as soon as you won the $6,000. She is shocked and dismayed and the boss has the creep escorted out of the casino completely and advises her to drive into a police station in case he is hiding somewhere. She gratefully thanks him.
Please don’t.

Please don’t.
LMAO. :D I do tend to ramble on and on a lot of times. ;)

Sad really. :(

Surveillance doesnt surveil people after they have won a jackpot. They go back to their normal duties

Well, that sucks! The casino should still surveil people after they win a Jackpot! That's when they need to be surveiled the most!
Even if the people noticed something peculiar, they wouldn't care because it's not really their job to care. Security is for the casino, not the patrons.Quote: NathanWell, that sucks! The casino should still surveil people after they win a Jackpot! That's when they need to be surveiled the most!
Probably not for safety reasons.Quote: darkozSurveillance doesnt surveil people after they have won a jackpot. They go back to their normal duties
I'm not surprised this happened, at this property, to say the least.
BTW, they do this real cool thing there, where if you hit a jackpot, they print out a TITO from the machine, put your info on it, and you take it to the cage to get paid. Down time when hitting jackpots is maybe 1 minute. Very nice.
Quote: RSShe won the money playing blackjack. Not a jackpot. Twin River does this stupid thing where when you cash out at the cage, there's this little monitor in front of you and it tells you how much you're getting paid. I thought it was kinda weird, since the person behind you in line can see how much you're getting paid as if they're inviting someone to get robbed after cashing out 5+ figures.

My used to slots brain tends to think $6,000 is a big Jackpot. ;) I failed to take into account that a huge win on Blackjack is not a Jackpot like you would get on a slot machine. $6,000 on Coyote Moon=Jackpot, W2 form, and upfront taxes(If you choose to tell them to take out the taxes then and there) , so more like. $4,000, and a $6,000 win on Blackjack is just a $6,000 win, with no W2 form or taxes. :)
