SHOOTING at Mandalay festival
Reports of multiple shooters.
Definitely multiple victims and multiple ambulances going to different hospitals.
Shooting is actually at Route 91 country music festival taking place near or on Mandalay Bay property.
Massive police response specialized units enroute including Mass Casualty response vehicle.
Those on stage witnessed major trampling and stampede incidents.
LVMETRO twittered everyone that LV Blvd was closed in the area and that ALL plane traffic at the airport was in abeyance briefly.
Early reports were confusing as to exact location and number of shooters and also as to whether high numbers of victims were gunshot wounds or trampling victims.
One known shooter; others appear to be rumors.
Over twenty victims now in hospitals but unknown whether GSW or stampede injuries.
Report of lockdown at festival unless leaving in an ambulance.
Conflicting reports of activities at the casino itself.

Actually, I don't think that's necessarily true. Sure, there are a lot of security guards, but for the most part, especially in this type of situation, they're practically worthless. I don't know if they carry guns, I don't think they do. Most are probably lucky if they have pepper spray and a taser. I don't go to the strip too often, but there definitely are cops on the strip, but it doesn't seem like there are too many or enough to make it a "very secure" type of area.
Later members of that group told me they had heard a loud noise and someone yelled "shooter". Turns out, there was nothing. Aria was locked down for a few minutes.

It seems like the guy was shooting from the 32 floor of the Mandalay Bay.
Metro is claiming there was one shooter who is NOW DEAD. He is a Las Vegas local. They are looking for his companion an Asian girl named Marilou Danely 4' 11' 111 pounds. They are looking for a Hyundai 114-b40 Chrysler 19D-401
2 off-duty cops attending the concert were shot.
2 confirmed dead, 12 in critical condition, another 12 wounded. They suspect more than 20 are dead and 100 injured.
From listing to the videos and the long rapid fire this does not seem like a normal automatic assault rifle set up.
The Strip is closed from Sahara to Sunset.

Once I was in the area (not sure if it's still there) where the Tiki birds are. There was some sort of confrontation in a large group of people (40-50), and the cops poured in pretty quickly. But no one was actively shooting just fighting.

The paid parking gates continued to function as normal. Some people were struggling to get out, as they hadn't stopped to pay their fees.

I think its hard to hit a specific target depending on lighting and the angle but in a crowded concert its hard not to hit someone.
Response time is pretty good and LV cops all have area frequencies in their cars, not just their own departments frequency.
There is also a supervisory frequency.
The problem is vague reports. Did cops head to the casino or to the property's events area, particularly the concert? Did anyone say active shooter is in Mandalay Bay tower and shooting into the music audience?
Casino guards are rarely armed unless on cashier escort duty or escorting the regularly scheduled changing of drop boxes which must be coordinated within two minutes of scheduled time.

One casino has armed guards that are required to stay current in their shooting range certifications. However, what is a pistol toting guard going to do against an assault rifle in a room that is undoubtedly barricaded.

The newscasters keep pumping people to describe what they were thinking of during the shooting and their emotional states now.

As of now, it appears it's just a crazy guy who came up with a bizarre (to say the least) plan. I've searched through some articles and nothing is showing as far as his motivation for it.

Looking at his facebook page, you see the pages he "likes" which are almost all left-wing pages. They include "Anti-Trump Army", "Thank you Obama", "Not my president", "Fight trump", a bunch of proud democrat pages, and all sorts of other leftist pages. Looking at his page, there appears to be hundreds of these pages and nothing that isn't a leftist page. As a reminder, this guy (Geary) is the husband of the chick (Marilou) who was the accomplice to the shooter (Stephen). Geary is NOT the shooter and AFAIK not connected to any of this.
However, just looking at that, it appears he's pretty far left on the political spectrum. Don't know about Marilou, but I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say she's likely far left as well, being his wife (or ex-wife?).
Granted, the far left stuff could just be a coincidence or completely unrelated. But again, I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say it may likely be a strong part of the motivation, if I had to guess. Combine this with it being a country concert (where I assume the attendees are likely more republican/conservative/right wing).....well to me, it looks like the motivation is political.
Again, no reports out yet that I could find saying what the shooter's motivation was, this is just my 2 cents.

I actually have a friend who has been married for 15 years and has not seen her husband in ten years (they are on facebook together) so if her current boyfriend did something similar you would check out the husbands facebook. What a fantastic detective you wpuld make
