It's stuff like this that gets you pegged as Kentry. It's like you are trying to post the stupidest* thoughts you can dream up. Kentry was like that.
It's easy to think we are being had. Are you just trying to get reactions?

What if he wanted to use them for the gift shop as well as food? Can he use them 3 times?
I went so far as to get a manager involved. Anyway, after the dude called me an idiot and moron for getting him involved, I wound up having to pay for gas separately.

And you call yourself an AP. Don't forget to knock a little off of the hotel bill with your points. Four times.
That's five, though, I concede.
What part of the country do you claim to be from again?
Since you
Seem to be a low roller type player let me know what casino you like and I'll find some play close by and fly out and give you 500 freeroll on any game you want to play

I am play $1-3 a spin, so not that low of a roller. :)
Don't forget for rooms in the hotel and, best of all, the spa.Quote: GWAEWhat if he wanted to use them for the gift shop as well as food? Can he use them 3 times?
1) Some places give you free food comps for earning X pts in a day (M Resort)...without using pts. Other places advertise "double dipping" points events (e.g. Harrahs Annual shopping) where you can get stuff without using your "main" points bank.
2) Some places don't charge tax if you pay with pts (but will add tax if you do a room charge, and then use pts to pay the room charge). Some Indian casinos are inconsistent with tax (usually depends on whether the casino owns the restaurant).
3) Some places don't allow discount coupons (or status discounts) with pts, but you can buy a gift card (or preloaded VISA debit card), and use the discounts when buying food with a gift card. However, gift cards usually will cause tax to be charged.
4) Some casinos have mis-set or malfunctioning communications between restaurants & players club, so a purchase might not show up on your account, or the purchase might show up as 1/2 or 1/4 price. In some cases, the malfunction only happens when the restaurant person does things in a particular order.
As monet0412 also mentions, there are lots of casino software glitches. Some I report. Some I use. ...and some I just avoid (since the casino is too stupid/mismanaged to fix them even after I've avoided them).

Some places also charge 2:1 if you use points at the restaurant but if you charge it to your room and then use points it comes out as 1:1
Depending on the person and the situation, I would not always think it was a stupid question. There are places that give you both comps and free play.Quote: BTLWIMy local I get points that I can use for free play and then I go to the desk and get steak dinner comps regardless of current point value. Not really a stupid question IMO.
In this situation I think it was an intentional stupid question. I think he would be able to ask the casino.

I admitted I asked this weird question because I was sleep deprived!

Judging by the content of your posts, this seems to be a regular occurrence.
Ask your mom to buy you a comfy new pillow, that might help.

I don't even think I want a haircut by someone ALREADY TRAINED by SuperCuts.

To be fair, I only started TWO weird threads in my entire time posting on WOV forums. ;) And, I don't live with my mom. I live on my own. :)
I have NEVER asked a stupid question on a FORUM because I was sleep deprived, and I have over 10k posts(ok, someone might find ONE in 10k, feel free to point it out) It takes thought effort to post questions. I have been drunk, sleep deprived, in the hospital and whatever else you can imagine, and yet I don't know that I have ever asked a dumb question. No doubt I have said some incoherent things, but that's probably just due to my sh**ty writhing while assuming people can interpret what I'm saying with some of my neanderthal writting.Quote: NathanI admitted I asked this weird question because I was sleep deprived!
So, I am not buying the sleep diprivaty excuse.
It would be far better for you to just say, "I had a brain fart, and I asked a "dumb/silly" question because I didn't think before I typed.
If you, your wife, family or kids ever need free hair cuts while in Vegas, or if I'm in your area, just let me know, I am avalabale 24/7 365.Quote: GWAEFree haircuts

Now that's funny, all the more so, because and I think it was unintentional.
Nathan was saying he was 'deprived' not 'depraved'
He might be both.
Pity you spoiled the joke by misspelling 'depravity'
Quote: NathanCan you still use your points for food comps after you have played them already? For example, I had 500 points but converted them for fres play, did this twice. On my account it acknowledged that I earned 1,000 points this year. Can I use the points I earned for food comps or will they say,"Sorry, you already used your points for free play, so you will have to pay full price?"
They are NOT comps if you use your points - you are paying for them with points.
Quote: standbymymanThey are NOT comps if you use your points - you are paying for them with points.
I'd say that's kind of splitting hairs, you could argue that the points themselves are a form of comp.
Quote: standbymymanThey are NOT comps if you use your points - you are paying for them with points.
I mostly agree with stand. Some pits still have discretion on handing out buffets, cigs, etc. I get hotel rooms comped separately from points. Also, as mentioned in another thread, I use the spa on comps.
And often, when charging food to the room, they comp that off as well, though CET takes any points I have, then writes off the rest. (So I try to use them up before checkout, natch.) CET also gives folio credit as comps, separate from RC's but used in a similar fashion; you just know in advance what amount you have.
The definitions & usage of "tier points", "points", "comps", "cash comps", "discretionary comps" varies a lot between casinos.Quote: Mission146I'd say that's kind of splitting hairs, you could argue that the points themselves are a form of comp.
What one casino called "points" were like what most casinos call "comps" - not cashable for FP, but usable at restaurants.
Another casino's "points" were not usable for anything...iike what most casinos call "tier points".
Some casinos have "cash comps", comps which you can redeem for cash or FP (at any time).
Some have a special day once a year where some comps can be converted into FP (or a host may be able to convert some comps to points)
Other casinos (like the old LV Hilton) combined points & comps together.
At places like CET, points must be exhausted before "comps" or "discretionary comps" can be used.
At some casinos, "discretionary comps" can not be issued until the "comps" balance is exhausted (but it's usually ok to still have "points").
Sometimes "discretionary comp" hotel rooms will subtract from your "comps" balance (so you buy gift cards with your "comps", before asking for extra hotel rooms beyond what the monthly mailers give you).
Some places give you a "comps" balance on every slot machine you play (or when you use a kiosk). Others treat it as a big secret.
-----
Expirations can be weird too.
Some casinos expire comps at the end of every month.
Some casinos expire points after 12 months, even if you keep playing (e.g. points earned in Jan 2016, expire Jan 2017).
Some casinos with mystery "comp" balances, treat them all like "discretionary comps" - Even if you don't use any "comps", they may decrease the "comps" balance due to hotel stays or other complimentary activity.
Some places points can only be used for comps. Some they can be used for comps or freeplay (and some cash), and some of which give you extra (or a discount) if used as a comp (ie, 100 pts = $1 FP but 75 pts = $1 at a restaurant). And of course some (all?) have a discretionary comp balance that AFAIK is hidden from the user, typically used when dealing with a host asking for a comp.....some (Caesars) will use up all your comp points first and then use discretionary comp balance, while others will use whatever you have in discretionary comps if a balance exists.
But I've never seen a casino use the same points for tier leveling as for comps (some earn at the same rate, but never seen a comp points used to be taken away from tier score).
