Vote early, and often.
Quote: billryanEarly voting in Nevada started yesterday. I drove by a spot and it seemed pretty crowded. There isn't a spot very close to me this week, but my assigned place, right down the block from me, will open November 1st.
Vote early, and often.
Some states make early voting very easy; my state is one of them. In Republican-dominated states, you see much less of it, because it allows more people to vote, especially those who would be inconvenienced by polling locations and crowds on Election Day--and that's the last thing that Republicans want. (I've already voted BTW.)
Also, making it easier to vote is social progress, which means that pretty much by definition, Republicans oppose it. But I think it will be the norm nationwide very soon. If we throw this Trumpian concept of massive voter fraud in the toilet where it belongs, we'll have a surge of popularity in early and absentee voting. After all...why the $#%$@# not?
It's like the electoral college. Having all voting occur on a single day is a concept left over from the 18th century. and was probably necessary back then. There is no need for that now, though. Republicans HATE the idea, because it allows all the inferiors a better chance to vote. I would love to see a nationwide tally of how many of this election cycle's votes were cast early. Might show a growing trend.
Quote: RonCEarly voting is easy in Texas--I prefer it to voting on the actual election day. Not every voting location is open but enough are in my area to make it easy. You do have to show an ID (horror!).
Why are people so opposed to having to show ID? HL you have to show ID in a casino and bar, shouldn't something "important" have the same standard?

Apparently it's racist to the poor minorities. They can't afford that $10 or so ID card.
$54 in Washington state. Good for 6 years.Quote: IbeatyouracesApparently it's racist to the poor minorities. They can't afford that $10 or so ID card.

It is not true you have to show ID at a casino or bar. I visit one most days and show ID very rarely
If you really think they should be held to the same standard, you should appreciate the current system

Ok bad example. However with something as important as voting why not have to show id.
I have no idea what it costs for an ID in PA but I have always considered it an expense that is part of life.
Well don't the poor minorities that get welfare have to have ID to get that?

No, only the poor whites do
Quote: TomGNo, only the poor whites do
That's just silly. Are you implying that there are white folks on welfare?
Say it ain't so, Joe.
First time I heard about requiring ID to vote I thought it was a joke, since I didn't know you did not have to show ID to vote.
It's just common sense you should have to show ID when voting. You're saying, "I am X person and my vote is for Y." Ever gotten a job, credit card or bank account, notarized a legal document/contract, done something at the DMV, or a multitude of other things where you're doing something and saying "I am the person I'm claiming to be" and NOT shown ID?
I vote by mail. My ballot comes in my mailbox, I fill it out and drop it off at a deposit box. I could mail it in too. No ID required.Quote: RSIt's just common sense you should have to show ID when voting.
How would you propose to conduct vote-by-mail with an ID requirement?
They could require a photo copy or make you get it notarized or use various computer technology. I'm sure there's many ways they could do it. I can't see any logical reason you shouldn't have to show ID to vote. Not having to show ID makes it ripe for voter fraud.Quote: MathExtremistI vote by mail. Then, a few days before the election, I got TWO sample ballots in the mail. One had a typo in my name. I guess that's why I showed up as unregistered.
I went to vote Tuesday morning at 6:10. There was a line 7 deep, and people were already leaving after having voted.
When I got to the front, all I had to provide was my name & address, and sign the book. I also pointed out the second, wrong entry in the book.
No ID was required. Total time was less than 10 minutes. No "I voted" stickers were provided. :(
I suppose I could have voted a second time later in the day, but didn't.
I'm sure it happens a lot that'she probably the only reason Hillary won the popular vote.Quote: DJTeddyBearOn the registration deadline date, Google had a link to check. For shits & giggles I checked and was surprised to learn I wasn't registered. So I used Google's other link to print the registration form, which I mailed that day. As I recall, no photocopy of ID was required to register.

I am willing to take action on the popular vote. ;-)
You do realize the numbers are not fully in yet? They will continue to delay in order to fuel the riots.
