I'm planning a vacation to Las Vegas this summer and I wanted to get some pointers before doing so. Are there any casinos where the free play you download to your machine can be moved to another game if you're running bad? For example, if you remove your players card the free play automatically goes back into your account for later use. There's nothing worse then putting all of your free play onto a machine that's cold.

Suggestions can be big strip properties (like MGM or Caesars) or off-strip/downtown.

Thanks!

Most places allow you to break up your FP

I.E.-- One has $100 FP, they can download $20 only

I know that, but sometimes a machine is so bad you want to leave before the $20 is done, haha.

Pretty much every place works like this. You're not allowed to cash out free play until you've played it through. So if you have $100 in free play, download it to your machine, then take your card out, what do you think happens? You're not allowed to cash it out because you haven't played it... Of course it's not going to "disappear" people would throw a huge fit about that.

...It goes back on your card and you can use it on another machine.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Where have you been where it goes back onto the card? Usually, it stays on the machine. Surely you've vultured this.......

Most every place I've been the free play returns to the card... It can't be cashed out until it's played through, and it's tied to your card as free play. If you pull your card and it remains on the machine, why couldn't you then just click the cash out button? The machine, without a card, has no clue that's free play and just see's it as credits.

Also, I would never vulture this. Someone else's free play is the same as someone else's money. Sitting down to play off someone else's free play they left behind is the same as sitting down and playing someone else's real money if they go to the bathroom/etc. You can quite literally be arrested for it.

Actually at most places on the east coast if you remove your card the free play just stays in the machine. You can't cash it out until you play it though, obviously. But once it's on the machine it's stuck.

What makes you think that the machine loses the ability to track a promotional credit balance just because the card is withdrawn? Once the balance is established, the machine is more than capable of tracking it to completion. Also, what happens if I have an odd number of remaining credits? I have to withdraw in $5 increments, but I play one hand of $0.25 VP and have $3.75 remaining...if the $3.75 goes back on my card, how do I get it back off?

Perhaps I haven't been far east enough to see some of these. I've been all over and decently far east but I've always seen it go back on the card. I asked previously what would happen in your $3.75 situation and they informed me that if it's under $5 you couldn't re-download it so it would be lost. So they told me to play it through to completion when it's under $5 basically. What you're saying makes sense though and perhaps I haven't stumbled on those machines or perhaps I haven't ever tried "switching" machines because I was running bad while running off my FP =P.

I believe most of the newer/updated player tracking systems will put the credits back on your account.

There are some older machines that are only capable of transferring one way. They can put credits on the game but not take them back off. Some of the IGT Game King versions have this limitation.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I don't always remember what places have what system because it's rare I would want to move to a different machine. Most of the newer systems seem to allow you to DL free play and to remove your card anytime and the remaining FP will be loaded back to your card. Old systems make you play it though 1 time.

Hey man, sometimes you gotta switch machines to switch games. You have one of those days when the deuces come on DDB or the aces come on DW and you just can't look at that cruel, cruel machine anymore...:-)

Hmmm.

Seems odd someone would determine where they were going to play based on this information.

What's the real reason? Don't answer that.

As stupid as this sounds, if the slot I'm playing doesn't hit a bonus round fast enough I like to bounce around a little bit and try somewhere else. I know it makes no difference at all, but it makes me feel better.

One must receive free play first in order to use free play.

What's the point of knowing how the DL system works without knowing if or when you'll actually receive any? Obviously you'll have to return to pick it up, or have someone do it.

Is having someone bank it for you so you can play it later part of the reason you're asking specifically about systems that work like that?

Try SLS I'm fairly certain they do that.

Personally I would rather play at a place that gave good free play.
