A lot of thoughts.

We always drive to LV and during a trip we visit more properties than probably just about anyone. A change would affect us as much as anyone.

Realistically, there is close to zero percent chance that anyone will be exempt from a parking fee.

I am guessing the mean amount spent by a parking visitor is ~$100. MGM wants to increase that amount. Assuming a $5.00 parking fee that would amount to a 5% increase in revenue. That is significant.

I doubt even people staying at the hotel would be exempt. It seems like the vast majority of hotels in the mid to high range charge for parking.

A parking fee would be disappointing. Along with free drinks, free parking is a unique and appealing aspect of a Las Vegas visit.

Times change though.

You just know they all have been wanting to do this, but were afraid they'd be out there alone on it. I'm thinking MGM judges that other properties will follow or they wouldn't have done it. I'm hoping they're wrong.

I have always been surprised that no one charges on the strip. Hopefully if they do it, it will be like ac where you can at least earn free parking.

It seems to me that the smart move would be to not charge for parking, period. The strip properties could easily charge a little more for rooms, food, drinks, etc., to bring in a little extra revenue and it would hardly be noticed.

I understand why downtown charges for parking, what with all the street performers taking up space in their garages.

The article goes on to say.....

"Murren stressed that it was “pretty premature” to discuss with certainty how the parking situation would work. Still, he indicated that all options are possible — including charging for parking spots. Doing so, at least during big events at the arena, could arguably help control the supply of existing spaces".

I know of a downtown casino that has high garage parking prices when there is big event downtown. I'm glad they do, because:

a) I can usually get a parking spot in the casino garage

b) after 1/2 hour of game play then parking is free

I can get charging for parking if someone isn't staying at the hotel - but if they are - that would be all the incentive I would need to go elsewhere. It's not like 5 or 10 bucks would kill the bankroll, but it certainly wouldn't help it.

Let's be honest. Most casinos, over time, make a ton of cash. They might want *more* revenue for the stockholders, but it's just plain being greedy. I can't blame them, I like money, too. But, if they want to charge me, I will go somewhere else.

I do not understand why parking at the casino is so expensive! I think that casino owners should pay montly for parking instead of their visitors.. Parking nowadays is exactly the same attribute of necessity as a toilet but somehow toilet don`t costs $100 per visit..=\
Another side of the question is that they want to dispose of crowd of authos
