I gambled with a guy this weekend who was a moron for many reasons, but made a statement I have investigated and it seems to ring false.

He claims he gets to Diamond Status by using the TR Visa card. His gambling will not get him to Diamond.

According to what I read the TR Visa will upgrade you to platinum, but you don't accrue tier credits, just reward credits, so no Diamond that way.

Google also says there is a club called the founders card that will make a member a quasi Diamond but without the hotel and free play offers. But the card ain't free, and my "pal" said he got to Diamond via credit card.

So is there any way to achieve Diamond Status without gambling, or this founders card?

Impossible. You do not earn tier credits for spending with the TR Visa, so there's no way he could get to Diamond with just that. You DO earn tier credits for spending at Caesars properties, but I doubt he made all of his spend there.

Signing up for the TR Visa gets you to Platinum automatically.

The Founder's Card DOES get you to Diamond automatically. I forget how much it costs per year.

Founder's Card is normally 795 a year though I have a link for 395 a year. I don't get a ton of room offers but when I reserve hotel rooms through Caesars website most of my rooms are either comped or discounted by quite a bit. I think got the free show tickets (200 bucks), the free 100 dinner credit and nearly 1000 worth of hotel room for the price of the card alone.

I'm sucked in again... damn!
Founder's card? For Diamond?
I think it cost me a little more than $795 to hit Diamond this year (1st time ever ).
Of course I won all that money back, and of course I lost 2/3 of it again ;-(
Anyone want to share the ins and outs of this offer? Please..

Do you have any thoughts on the process, the costs, the Pros and Cons, the benefits, how does your host play into all of that, just tid-bits that you wouldn't mind sharing with the entire Forum?

Yes.... and? You could just google founder card promo code and find one as well. It is a nice product regardless of if I get a referral bonus or not.

It's a math problem and depends on how much traveling you do and what you do when you're traveling...for me, I was already on AT&T Wireless (got about 12-13% off monthly bill) was planning on joining One Medical already (50% off) so beyond that, you pull up the website, see the list of participants and benefits and just crunch numbers to see if it's worthwhile.

If you're already Diamond through play, it might be redundant.

One thing I had to take into consideration was, having weighed the benefits, I signed up for two years, but they apparently renew their association with CET annually, so it's possible the benefit won't be available next year (but we're all gamblers...)

A few months ago I pondered the card. When I did the math it was going to save me maybe $500 this year so it was only a +100. Was still going to do it but opted against it at last second. After my 40 minute wait for hotel in AC I kinda wish I would have. Would have at least skipped the line.

um.. the math on DIAD with 9/6 JoB is $50k at .5% = $250.

you're better off than the $400 founders card if you can find a Caesar's property that is 1 tier point =$10 coin-in at 9/6 JoB.
(I lucked out and was +$500 at my DIAD with 9/6 JoB)

My problem is that you assume that everyone will lose $250 and that there is no variance. There is plain math and then there is reality which says some people will lose more or less than $250. Sure if you average out a million players they are better off with 9/6 JoB, but an individual is just taking a gamble

Highly exaggerated example.

But technically your right very few will lose $250 exactly some will lose $249 and some will win $4049..

What I can guarantee you is earning it though proper play is 30x more valuable.

There's no way they will let you buy in for all the actual benefits and perks gained by earning it from actual play.
They are probably coming to gamble anyways.

My take on the people who want the Founder's Card are they are not gamblers, but tourist who visit casinos and other locations around the US. To them the Founders Card is like those special passes they sell at amusement parks to avoid lines and get a free meal.

In Vegas, the 9/6 JOB machines require $25 per tier credit, so you'll need $125k in, which is a $575 expected loss with a rather high variance because you'll need to play $5 machines to do this in a day. Also, most people will start making mistakes when they get tired.
I heart Crystal Math.

I disagree completely. Yes, their table game comps are awful. But for machine play, it takes very little to get free rooms.

I gamble quite a bit but there is not a casino around me with an hour that is linked to an Mlife or TR rewards program. So for 395 dollars I immediately get treated better in Vegas at Caesars props and a lot of other player cards will match my diamond status for a year so it is a win win. Like I said before 395 got me my 5 nights in Vegas free. I chose the Flamingo but had every CET prop to choose from, even Caesars. I got the show tickets, free access to the Diamond Lounges and the 100 anniversary dinner. Money off the ATT bill and 3 months of dollar shave club has also been a nice bonus. After seeing 150+ people standing in line with 4 employees checking them in and going to the Diamond check in with 7 employees checking in maybe 12 of us, it was totally worth it.
