With this humid weather coming up from Mexico, I am thinking we need to secure the border better. :) (please...not a political thread)

10%? :-D

It's been in the 30-35% range. I know that doesn't sound like much to some, but we are used to 2-4%. lol.

It was in the 5-9% range when I was there. Soon as you walked in a cold area, you started to sweat like a pig. I left a pool of it at the players club at Rampart.
Quote: Gabes22I heard there was some flooding in town over the weekend. I hope everyone is okay
Yeah, Sunday night there was major flash flooding. Been here 6 years now, and I continue to be amazed that a half inch of rain turns into such a major flooding event. Koval Road, running parallel to the strip is always a huge problem area. I learned on the news the other night that Koval Road was actually built in a way to serve as an intentional flood zone, diverting water away from the strip.
Quote: Gabes22It's amazing how different ecosystems work. Where I live, I could get 3 inches in a day and nothing would happen
I think part of the problem is the ground is so dry and hard it acts like concrete and water doesn't soak in, it just runs off.
It takes a couple hours of rain to get the ground to soften up and we just never get that kind of prolonged rain. When it does rain, it is usually a half hour event.

We need to send them all back to mexico or wherever the hell they came from
I'm talking about the weather of course.

But what would we do about the heat "Americans won't deal with". You know, the ones that are too hot to do because it's easier to sit in the AC and enjoy it.
Quote: SOOPOO80 and sunny in Buffalo. It's why when I move to Vegas it will probably be for 7 months with 5 months still in Buffalo.....
I seem to recall being the victim of a lot of ribbing back in February. How's it feel now, turkeys? ;)
76* and sun. Bit of a gentle breeze, hearty, moist air full of the smells of life. My total energy bills, gas and electric, was about $50 this month.
And it's only rained twice! Of course, the first time was for 19 days and the second time was for 22, but still! ;)

We the people need to dump this heat into the Boston Harbor and declare our independence.

It hit 87 degrees in Boston today with humidity at 54%. Would you believe that there is still a big pile of snow left over from winter? It's at the Seaport where it was brought after the storms. I heard talk about a contest to guess when it will melt.

In Boston it's not a harbor its a hahber.

I hear California needs water. Sell it to them.
Quote: RigondeauxA photo of the recent storm, taken by a passenger on a plane.
How the hell was that good of a picture taken from a plane? It makes me wonder if it looks real. But I saw this on facebook today, so the storm definitely makes sense.

The plane picture looks photo shopped to me. The airport is flat but other buildings aren't.
Notice the double rainbow in this picture.
Quote: tringlomaneThe plane body is what got me...that looks really fake imo.
Also, I don't think it would take that flight path, take off or landing.

I'm not a photoshop expert. But there are very strict building codes near major airports for obstacle clearance and other reasons, and as a pilot and ATC that picture looks very correct to me as to perspective. JMO since I didn't take it. McCarran was placed out in the desert when it was first laid out (thinking mid-50's), so they had the advantage of bare ground that then grew up around it under some zoning control, rather than the reverse. So the buildings are going to be low, especially compared to the Strip condos and hotels.
The storm would have disrupted the usual flight paths, and the flight looks to be deviating almost over the top to avoid something (the turbulent area just NW of the field might not be the only storm cell) at maybe 1500'. So it's not too surprising they're there, probably on a really close downwind to runways 1R/L. Notice, too, there don't appear to be any aircraft moving on the surface (at least that I can make out - might be one exiting midfield near 1R); I'm guessing they held guys in the gates until the storm passed, because otherwise that's pretty unusual at an airport as busy as LAS.

wait a minute....the pot of gold is at Bally's? THAT is unlikely. lol.
Were the shirts on or off this time?Quote: kewljIt is really not that bad at all today. Just completed a couple hours of playing Volleyball in the park with my brother and a group of other people and it is very tolerable. Themometer says 99 degrees and 9% humiditry which is down from where it's been past few days and there is a breeze blowing. Warm breeze but not that Hot hit you in the face breeze we sometimes get when it's 112+ degrees.
They can keep both the heat and the immigrants IMO.Quote: kewljCurrently 91. A cooler 98 degrees forecast for today (as opposed to 113-115 last week), BUT unusually humid for us, which I don't appreciate.

Vermont here I come. http://vtmapleproducts.com/fishing/vtfishing2.jpg
Quote: AxelWolfWere the shirts on or off this time?
Your funny. Mine was on. There were some people in the park that, not necessarily on the volleyball court, that need to reconsider going shirtless though.
Watching the local news tonight, next 2 days, highs are forecast to be 92 and 93 degrees, with some humidity about 20%. Those are low temperatures for this time of year. :)
It's not that Americans wont do it. Some Mexicans are desperate enough to do it for significantly less. It's a bidding war mob scene just driving up to various locations.Quote: BozBut what would we do about the heat "Americans won't deal with". In Vegas there's so many of them willing to do hard labor for very little. For as low as $150 they will use their truck, load up a 3 bedroom house and move you across town.
Or you can use Ben Dover's moving company. Their motto is: Don't worry, the only thing you will feel is the price.
today by baseball sized hail in TX.
