With all the discussions on tipping, at the tables, restaurants, housekeeping, prostitutes, here is an angle I have not seen discussed.

Since it is 'customary' (and I always wonder who is it that decides what is customary), but if it is 'customary' to tip your server/waiter up to 20% of the meal's value, why is customary to tip the person who cooked or prepared the meal, nothing. That seems backwards to me.

Because they make a higher wage. However in some restaurants the servers will tip out to the bartender, cooks, and bus person. So at a lot of places when you tip 20%, approx 3% of that goes to other people. Not 3% of their tip but 3% of total.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW

It's only employees in service oriented businesses that have face to face contact with the customer that get tips.

So cook, generally are excluded. But they are also better paid.

On the flip side often the cook doing omelettes at buffets WILL have a tip glass out.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁
